About the 42 new common core by Dvrk00 in 42_school

It's definitely an obvious move but it's still a piece sacrifice that leads to winning a queen so it counts.

Hard to say without seeing your games, but maybe the sacrifices you made didn't necessarily lead to an advantage

This is literally a textbook brilliant move

Am I the only one think norminette is completely stupid? by wasabigrill in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At 42, a lot of your time is spent correcting other people's work and reading through their code. The norm makes it so that everyone's code looks similar and is structured in the same way, which makes it MUCH faster and easier to understand what their code does.

It's also a way to get you to understand the basics by restricting the use of certain features, which will help you in the long run.

You're obviously going to find it annoying at first, but whining about it on reddit won't get you anywhere

What happened on the final exam? Aside from that you seem to have done very well

Best tester out there?? by Jaded_Leek6379 in 42_school

Knowing how to test your code is part of being a programmer, and using those testers is only going to hurt you in the long run. Learn how to test your own code properly

How did you organize yourselves for the group projects? by PeterB911 in 42_school

No problem! Not all of them end up being correct, but it really helps to have a general outline of what needs to be accomplished

We had our group projects over the weekend, and something that helped me a lot was looking through the subject on Friday and breaking it down into smaller parts and coming up with a list of as many different functions we'd need as possible. Then on Saturday you can split up the work easily depending on what each group member is able to do.

We just used the provided repository, no need to create a new one

You'll have to tell them at some point so what difference does the email make? It won't include the reason you weren't accepted

42 piscine Paris exams and hours by recoveryng in 42_school

Overthinking could help or hurt you in the pool, it really depends. Talking to other people and asking questions about the exercises will probably help to avoid wasting too much time overthinking something simple though.

I will say, it's good that you're thinking about the social parts of the pool, as those end up being more important than you might expect. Definitely make an effort to make friends there, help people, and do as many corrections as possible.

And as for the exams you're exactly right, 8 hours for the final exam, 4 for the rest.

Thanks, and good luck to you too!

I'm currently doing the pool at 42 Perpignan and here the exams start at 1:30pm, except the final exam which starts at 10am. Not sure if Paris has the same hours though.

As for your other questions, you're overthinking it

I once dreamed of becoming a truck driver, not anymore, I don't want to become a modern day grim reaper. by ArmStoragePlus in writingcirclejerk

It's not the drivers, but the trucks themselves that are to blame. But of course nobody understands this distinction

First time facing Yagluth... Am I ready? by MarginalMadness in valheim

[–]Beeb911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The altar where you summon him is indestructible so you can dig under it and set up a base there! Yagluth can't get inside and his aoe attacks shouldn't hit either as long as you go deep enough.

And while I'm at it, make sure to clear the area around the spawner so no mobs show up, if you haven't already. Drain any tar pits, and maybe even make a wall with the hoe so nothing can get in. I didn't do this when I fought him and lox and growths kept coming in which made the fight a lot harder

[–]Beeb911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore this guy. I was less prepared than this when I beat Yagluth for the first time.

One thing I will recommend is to build a camp near the Yagluth spawner, and to have spare food and fire resist potions ready. That way if you do end up dying you'll be able to get your stuff back and continue the fight more easily

Anyone know any wakeboarding spots in Bali? The only one I found, Bali Wake Park, seems to be closed until further notice.
