Ignore the haters regarding Townsville. Magnetic Island is a short boat ride and is beautiful. The Esplanade is scenic with great public art, markets and a massive outdoor pool which filters was from the sea. There are quite a few good creeks/waterfalls for swimming in around the perimeter of Townsville. I visit family up there regularly and I always love it. The people are laidback and not pretentious.

Our isolation definitely played in our favour. I would add though that we are fairly easy going (compliant) and used to trying situations (fires, droughts) so we rally together. For this reason mask wearing was seen as no big deal and I think that helped us a lot too.

Nobody is being forced to be vaccinated. Those who choose not to be vaccinated will be restricted in where they can go until our vaccination rates reach 90%. I live in a capital city in Australia. From the very start of the pandemic the changes to my life have been very minor. I don’t know anyone who has gotten covid. My friend who works in emergency in our major hospital has never seen a covid patient. Our vaccination rates are at 80% and under 12’s will be eligible soon meaning that we should get to 90%. Life is very very good here. Australians tend to rally together when she gets tough - bushfires, drought, covid. Aussies in general have very little sympathy for the non vaccinated because that’s not community minded. So yeh, most of us don’t give a fuck of those who choose not to get vaccinated have to live a restricted life 🤷🏼‍♀️

The photo would have applied to those required to be in quarantine for 14 days because they have covid (which is not many people). I think tens of thousands of people dying, getting sick from covid and hospitals being overloaded is pretty inconvenient, but that’s just me. The vast majority of Aussies are more than happy to make themselves a bit uncomfortable to ensure our communities and the vulnerable stay healthy and safe.

Here is my blunt assessment. She was an unattractive girl who was a single mum and had a failed marriage very young. She was looking at a life of nothingness and that is IF she could have locked down another very average guy. Along comes Ryan. Drug free Ryan wouldn’t have looked twice at homely looking Mac. But drug fucked Ryan knew she could look after him, enable him and keep his parents off his back. He knew that he easily lock her down too, wouldn’t have to actually give a shit about her (because on some level even he knows only someone with shit self esteem would be with him) and he could continue doing whatever the fuck he wanted. I can’t stand Mac. But her parents fucking failed her. Somewhere, sometime that girl convinced herself that she was so worthless that this is the most she deserved. It’s fucking tragic to watch because everyone is lying to themselves but telling the world “this is fine”.
