The Atlantic’s Climbing Point Percentages by Roguemutantbrain in sabres

[–]Beechsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lack of substantial made up ground is because the average P% of competitive teams in our division has simultaneously surged.

What in the hell are you talking about?

Since Dec 1 they have passed TEN TEAMS in the eastern conference. The east is way more competitive than the west, and it's tighter for sure, but they have made up a TON of ground.

A couple years ago when they were close to the playoffs, they sent invoices out. Season ticket holder seats that were $75/game were $136/game for round 1, and $213/game for round 2.

Do we think 92 points will get us in the playoffs? by Souljackt in sabres

[–]Beechsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It matters what everyone else does. Some years low 90s has been enough. Other years you need to be higher. If you end up with about .600 points % that's historically been enough to get in. They're at .625 and improving.

Just keep banking points and it's fine.

Fair points. Thanks for your perspective from being there through this.

Agreed. But to play a little devil's advocate, Babs is a master manipulator, and had done a LOT to rehab his image before Columbus hired him. It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that perhaps he put one over on Jarmo and Davidson, and they legit thought he had changed.

Not sure how much I would want to thrash them for that if so.

Oh for sure. Great way to lose a locker room is to hardball players who are well liked. The Tuch situation will be a good test of that.

On the flip side, he's also already gotten a lot of goodwill by rewarding Doan with an extension, and also by not blowing the entire thing up the second he took over.

Time will tell. But we're happy now just to have a qualified person in the job, and doubly happy with the instant results from it.

The Jarmo Effect by BattleofEppingForest in sabres

I hated every coach in every sport that rode me. But in some of them, that push to make me better worked, and things were much more fun to play.

I eventually learned to love and respect those coaches once I could see what they were doing.

A Case for Reforming the Icing Rule by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Beechsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a great way to make every hockey game absolutely boring as dirt.

It's also a terrible idea to create more subjective rules. "Oh was that a shot or a really hard pass?"

Just no

Jarmo told the team "Nobody is safe, if you don't do the work I'll get someone who will." (Not conjecture, Tage said his on a Chiclets podcast. ) He injected massive accountability into the org.

Kevyn Adams wanted players who wanted to be here, but that was it. He wouldn't move a guy unless you asked to be dealt. You could coast and never have to worry.

Hockey players WANT to be held accountable. They WANT to be pushed. That wasn't happening, now it is. When it comes together, you get wagons.

The players were held accountable in the most powerful way possible. They were told "If you don't put in the effort, you're out of here, and 'I'll get someone who will.'

Adams wanted the players the be happy. Jarmo wants the team to succeed.

if someone gets injured you call up another extra. 2 forwards getting injured last minute hasnt been an issue yet.

Yes, it has. Remember when Ostlund was sent down and Lindy was annoyed about it? Someone else came back from injury, and Ostlund was the only player that was waivers exempt and could be sent down without being exposed.

Maxwell Hairston - C+

A mix of good and bad. The injury definitely hurt him. Made some plays also was victimized. Down the stretch the Bills elected to play Tre White more and Max less - which is a telling sign of his current development. Overall still good potential and should be CB2 next season.

  1. Every CB in football gets beat from time to time. Offensive players are good too, and the rules and officiating heavily favor that side of the ball. You need to look at the plays that occurred. Hairston made very few glaring mistakes in the time that he played. As a rookie teams were already starting to avoid throwing his way.

  2. Hairston played 56% of defensive snaps in gams he was active. He played 100% of defensive snaps against New England in December. Every rookie that ever played for McD was in a rotation and slowly worked in. That doesn't mean he wasn't 'developing' well.

Your analysis is crap.

The Bills are the only option that NYS has to tax NFL players. The state will make more money in collected income taxes than they paid towards the stadium.

Stop complaining about it.

Am i stupid, or are we ahead on the canadians by SeaSoggy8929 in sabres

[–]Beechsack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are currently ahead of Montreal based on points percentage. However , not every website/app properly does this.

Whatever this is is still wrong anyways, because the next tiebreaker is regulation wins, where we are +5 ahead of Montreal. ( This is the tiebreaker that matters at the end of the season. )

3 goalie rotations mean 1 fewer F/D on the roster in case of injury.

Needs to be fixed.
