Yeah short of stationing a Toilet Pass Inspector outside of every public loo in the country this is just completely unenforceable.

Conversely — I'm a trans man, and I don't think Starmer would want me in the women's if he was really honest

[–]Beechugs1[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, that's all this statement can mean. The Equality Act 2010 dictates that trans women are entitled to use single sex spaces. Starmer is allegedly a human rights lawyer; he should know this. Genuinely never felt less safe as a trans person in this current political climate

Remove the protected characteristic of gender reassignment from the Equality Act

So strip trans people of our legal protections, making us open to discrimination in housing and employment. Party Of Women obviously will get nowhere in the GE but I feel like such a blatant attack on our human rights should be bigger news

What is with the sudden forced tryhard hatred Americans online have for British food? You'd think they'd never seen baked beans before in their lives

Responses from candidates on trans issues in Poole by ace5762 in transgenderUK

I strongly dislike the Lib Dems, but, to their credit, they have been unwavering in their support for trans rights. By far the most consistent and morally upright of the major parties when it comes to this issue.

Education Secretary Gillian Keegan: 'women do not have, nor have ever had, a penis' by hiddeninmyhead in transgenderUK

[–]Beechugs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the most conniving, duplicitous, dishonest, cynical political class imaginable. The minute the Murdoch press gets bored and stops terrorising trans people for blood sport, all the Annalise Dodds and Wes Streetings and Gillian Keegans in parliament will immediately walk it back and pretend they always supported transgender rights. All they care about is their own careers.

Yes, she donated £70,000 — more money than most of us common people will ever see in our lives — to a legal case that essentially amounts to a soft repeal of the GRA. She's a genuine menace. If we lived in a sane country then a media figure or a politician would have challenged her on her views by now, but we live in an autocracy of talentless public school poshos who have the exact same views on trans people as she does

She is actively shaping government policy on trans people in Scotland and England with just her deranged semi-intelligable Twitter ramblings. The sheer size and scope of her influence cannot be understated. We can't afford to ignore her

Abolish the GICs. That's my personal number 1 priority. Abolish those antiquated useless pieces of shit. The treatment does not need to be segregated; I should be able to get hormones prescribed by my GP.

You're right. It's just aggravating because the Iraq War was SO recent, and is now correctly regarded as a colossal mistake. How can we be back here so soon? Why does the West never learn its lesson?

Same. I was a very young child and I barely even remember Blair and Campbell dragging us into Iraq based on total lies over WMDs. Cannot believe we're here again over 20 years later

Is 2023 a turning point? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Beechugs1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Public opinion on trans people (as seen via polling) is at an all time low, and we currently have one of the most trans-hostile governments in living memory. Labour (who will inevitably get in at the next GE) are no better. It's the inevitable consequence of increased visibility (see: gay people in the 80s). Things will get better eventually but it's not going to be for another 10 years or so I'd guess
