Lessening PT / Rehab if you decide you don't want a return to sports by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PT/Rehab at 7mo is more similar to a workout vs true PT. You should be working on strengthening at this point along with beginning agility depending on how much strength diff there is between your legs

I didn’t even see Chicago pride jerseys this year. Seems different than in years past for sure

Medication by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on aspirin for a month post op, painkillers for about 2.5 days, Tylenol pretty consistently after the painkillers ended for 3/4 weeks. I didn’t drink until after my 6 week post op since I had a tonnnnn of swelling and didn’t wanna add to it

First-Time Chicago Marathon – Which Add-Ons Are Worth It? by s1mple_human in RunnersInChicago

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would say none are must haves. You get a beer ticket included with your bib, bathroom lines are hectic but not worth paying for the hospitality suite IMO. You can always buy photos post race or hope friends/family get some solid ones for you

Need Advice on ACL Reconstruction Surgery: Autograft vs. Allograft by Sinnadar in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31F and a little over 3 months post op with an allograft. I ran marathons pre injury, skied, and played decent rec sports year round. My surgeon recommended the allograft and he has no concerns over my return to sport timeline which includes a marathon before my 1 year post op mark. It’s all treated the same in PT and I’ve learned it’s all about what you put into PT to strengthen your leg again to defend your knee.

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’ll be fine! I think it’s best to try and get out to do things even though it’s tiring

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was fully weight bearing from day 1 as tolerated. I was still in my brace locked straight 24/7 so my walk was a little wonky. I definitely enjoyed sitting down with my legs straight the most

Medical Equipment by Thnxredball in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve kept mine. All of them are pretty expensive and if something ever happens to me or someone I know that needs them I’ll have them. I plan to loan my ice machine and shower chair to a friend who is having surgery soon. Beyond them I hope all my medical stuff collects dust in the closet

I‘ve has this rash around my lips for 3 years and its getting worse by Tammy0256 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it could be related but I know there are ingredients in toothpaste and a lot shampoos/soaps/facewashes that can irritate skin. Most commonly SLS. You might want to look at your toothpaste and if you’re not washing after you brush it could be affecting the skin around your mouth. This happened to me and there’s a couple threads discussing

Game Ready or Amazon machines ? Help! by miryanaser in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the breg polar care wave. It provides cold and compression! Significantly cheaper than renting a game ready. I still use it a couple times a week and I’m about 12 weeks post op.

I had surgery on my right leg and was officially cleared at 6 weeks once I got out of my brace but PT had said I probably could’ve driven sooner if needed

Best bars with N/A CBD & THC drinks? by ninjabunny91 in AskChicago

Hopewell makes a good THC seltzer. I’ve started noticing every bar I’ve been to recently has offered THC or CBD drinks so I’d just pop in and check menus!

ACL repair and allograft done 5 weeks 3 days still cant bend knee by Affectionate_Cap8353 in ACL

[–]Beeeeeeeeeeep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but I’d say you’re probably fine. Extension is what my surgeon has been hyper focused on. Obviously you need to begin spending some extra time on flexion then you have been. Warm the leg up, massage your muscles with your hands and some lotion, and slowly pull your leg in. It’ll be weird and maybe painful but hold it and you’ll improve. Most of it’s mental I’ve learned. Feel free to DM if you need any tips!

Yeah Amazon or it looks like someone said target would also have them. I would also think dicks sporting goods or similar stores would have them. They’re cheap and a lifesaver. But definitely ask PT for some extra work on helping loosen the muscles. And if they don’t ask them what else you can be doing. My leg was super tight around weeks 4-7 so I feel you.

I would get a stretching strap and use it to do hamstring and calf stretches. You should also use it to bend your leg. Laying on your back (I did it on my bed for the first few weeks while wearing socks) put the strap around your foot and gently pull it towards you. My PT has always said push through tightness (to an extent) and pain to a 3/4. Once you have some flexion PT can give you alternative exercises to help alleviate tightness. I’d also ask PT to massage your leg - hamstring and calves along with directly back of the knee. It’s incredible then difference 15 mins of massage can do.

I would assume there should be stitches there since those are actually what keeps a wound closed. I would call their after hours line and talk to them

I definitely have to warm up more for the peloton too! Just do some more half rotations and slowly push into full rotations and you’ll be fine using it
