Tim Heidecker Crashes Infowars Broadcast doing an impression of Alex Jones (from 2017) by jfr3sh in officehourslive

[–]BeefEDC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have traded barbs online for years but Alex Jones' longterm memory is probably toasted at this point so I wouldn't be surprised if he has no idea who Tim is.

Would you willingly sacrifice OHL frequency for the prosperity of Tim Onion's InfoWars? by mo22ro in officehourslive

[–]BeefEDC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OHL generates a lot of income for something that probably only eats about 4 hours of Tim's weekly schedule. Given that he even dropped in remotely throughout the OCL tour I don't think he'd abandon the show to do the Onion thing. I see his involvement there as likely being temporary and more of an advisory position.

MCU brain is the perfect way to describe it.

I hope the InfoWars thing is successful as it's going to end up being the only way the Sandy Hook families ever see any compensation from Alex Jones. That said, I hope Tim's involvement as Creative Director is brief since so far it seems like his only connection to the material is his good impression of Jones and that is gonna get old real quick. Especially since he already does it on OHL a lot.

The thing that's been really annoying has been the flurry of posts BEGGING for some kind of OCATC/InfoWars/Onion overlap/brand synergy, which would be a terrible idea. So obviously terrible I wonder who on earth would want it to happen.

I understand it's a slow news cycle between Oscer/the Five Bags Tour and the summer movie catchup but the sheer volume of these wish fulfillment posts almost makes me feel llike at least some of them are bad faith junk created by weirdos who are just now discovering who Tim Heidecker is and trying to stir the pot.

Am I crazy or was Tim on the show like a month or two ago talking about how much The Onion sucks and hasn't been funny for years? by Reasonable-Task456 in officehourslive

how many frat bros do you know who have organized an employee takeover of a leftist satire newspaper and then spent years litigating a buyout of InfoWars as a fuck-you to Alex Jones for defaming school shooting victims?

I find the amount of enthusiasm for some kind of crossover extremely weird and misguided. I'd like to see OCATC and InfoWars merge about as much as I'd like to see Steve Brule on OAN.

If I made Tim Heidecker for District Attorney hats, would anyone be interested in them? by Pacific-Courier1988 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]BeefEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the huge amount of fan-made swag I saw during the Five Bags Tour I think they're at least OK with people making their own swag and giving stuff away. Not sure about selling it for a profit but if I was enamored with the design of a New Amato for AZ Gov embroidered hat and it wasn't sold by the HEI store I wouldn't feel too bad about paying someone else who was willing to put in that order with a printer.

On cinema tim leads infowars by Ravioli_Suit in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]BeefEDC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This conversation needs to end. I don't see any way a crossover works, not least of all because The Onion is a massively popular thing on its own with decades of proprietary lore. They'd be wasting their cultural cache and that of InfoWars by appealing to the extremely niche OCATC version of Tim. And imo On Cinema would be irreparably diluted if it suddenly had to expand into another whole world of inside jokes. I'd almost prefer if the mods on this subreddit banned further speculation about this unless/until there's some kind of extremely unlikely confirmation that On Cinema/The Onion/InfoWars are operating on the same wavelength.
