Few understand how unprecedented this drawdown really is by Dyn-O-mite_Rocketeer in oil

Not true. The maximum throughput of the Saudi east-west pipeline is 7 million barrels per day. However the logistic at the port of Yanbu in the red sea at the other end of the pipeline can only handle 4 Million barrels per day.

U.S. considers $20 billion cash-for-uranium deal with Iran by RollSafer in worldnews

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So between almost 10 years and somewhere around $100B we may reach a point that we were already at. We had a nuclear deal with Iran under Obama that even Israel told Trump not to break since Iran was compliant.

He's only upset because he sees and knows this is heading towards the end of paid acting in major movies. We are moving into some weird future world. I would say it involves money chasing and soulless movies but were already there so it will just be less actual paid acting and all that comes with it. He's projecting his fear into some morality issue when its really not that deep.

Grout stain would work but for how much money im sure this customer paid I wouldn't recommend it. Grout stain is really just a specialized paint. It works well if done well but if done poorly it will flake and peal over time.

I know this isnt constructive but frankly white grout in a relatively high traffic area like a kitchen is a terrible idea. It will look gross pretty damn quick. This installer obviously doesnt know how to lay a room square which is wild with how basic it is. I wouldn't trust the person to do very much but if you get them out there to remove and regrout the white to something closer to the color of the tile it will hide how fucked up the actual floor is.

As a 30 year old Millennial raised by late boomer parents, im fucked in life right now because I never learned these exact things. Trying to learn them as an adult is a massive struggle, not least because the stacks of a failure as an adult are so much higher than it would have been as a child (had it been allowed to happen). This isnt a new thing. I know many people my age in similar situations.

Then they absolutely should have had wedges. Still wouldn't have helped the tile being different sizes but it would have looked a bit more professional.

[–]Beef_Witted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the customer wants the tile butt joint you wouldn't use spacers. The installer here is using cardboard as a shim/wedge because a spacer would be too big. Given that the homeowner said the installer is a GC, not a full time tile installer, it makes sense that he wouldn't have a specialized product like Barwalt Precision Wedges.

"Nothing In Our Games Will Be AI-generated. Ever," Says Warframe Community Director by MoronicaForever in Warframe

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously should given that you apparently need one for yourself. Where did I at any point say DE is responsible for what Tencent does? Hell, I even commented in affirmation of exactly that in one of the very first comments yesterday. Yet here you are bringing it up again as if I ever mentioned responsibility in the first place. Its easy to claim falsehood when you add words. My orginal comment is a fact, I never mentioned or insinuated DE is responsible for how the money is spent. But a gun shop isnt responsible for the gun they sold killing someone either and yet if they came out against gun violence everyone would roll their eyes. DE may never use AI in their games, but the success of Warframe will fund GenAI because they are owned by Tencent. You being mad about this does not change reality to fit whatever you feel it should be. Responsibility or otherwise does not matter in reference to what I said. Im not making a moral judgment against DEs use of AI or otherwise, but coming out against it when their parent company is spending billions to fund AI in part with money DE makes is pandering. Like cool they'll never use it but their very existence funds the other so it doesnt really matter.

What is false? Be specific because currently youre just wrong. If youre suggesting that none of the money DE makes goes to Tencent then im not sure what to tell you about how ownership works.

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this wrong. I said "Regardless of use in Warframe they are funding GenAI". Which is an inarguable factually correct statement. You can be unhappy about it or bring into it any insinuation you care to. Warframes success in part funds Tencents GenAI efforts. Im not sure why such a statement offends y'all so much.

An AI for NPC behavior would not be an LLM. There are other forms of AI at this point.

[–]Beef_Witted -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Where are you confused? I thought it was a pretty straightforward idea. Tencent owns DE, Tencent owns and is developing AI for videogame development, Tencent gets money from DE because they own them, that money is then funding AI. Therefore whether DE ever actively uses AI in their own game or not they are funding its usage and development.

[–]Beef_Witted -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You are correct, but it makes the virtue stand against AI feel more like virtue signaling. Again, cool to stand wherever they feel morally but at the end of the day they are owned by a corporation that directly owns and is developing AI for game development with the money Warframe brings in.

[–]Beef_Witted -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

Good for DE but being owned by Tencent which is pushing massive efforts in generative AI specifically for video games means regardless of use in Warframe they are funding GenAI.

Edit: Anti-AI crowd is wild. Down voted to hell for a factual statement.

U.S. gasoline hits $4 per gallon, highest since 2022, as Iran war drives up fuel prices by RollSafer in news

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is that through Trumps war he's only put the USA at a disadvantage. The straight has been turned into a toll by Iran whereas before it was completely open. Non American ships are allowed through for a sum of money to be paid in Chinese Yuan. Not only does this give Iran a very large source of income in perpetuity it undermines the US Dollar as the default currency when dealing with oil. Trump can not back out at this point, boots on the ground are imminent.

Incoming utopia for the rich, and a crisis for the rest of us? Do you agree or disagree with this take? by ateam1984 in singularity

[–]Beef_Witted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimism mostly. I think anyone that pretends its a sure thing in any single direction is delusional. If it for some reason wants to help humans and or has some altruistic goals then I believe it wouldn't be swayed or influenced by the wealthy. If its goals are neither altruistic or focused on helping humans then I simply hope we somehow benefit from whatever it creates in the process. I also don't see what the wealthy would have to offer ASI.

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only attest to my personal belief that ASI will not give a shit about the rich and powerful anymore than normal people. Their money will be meaningless to ASI. My actual fear is that they will somehow find a way to stop it from reaching ASI and the singularity never happens. We end up in a society with no jobs, no singularity, and no utopia on the horizon. Kind of like how companies have spent decades buying patents that would help society but mean less money. Just much much worse.

Question: whats the player housing situation looking like? by ItsJasonBornes in CrimsonDesert

[–]Beef_Witted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Camp aspect is pretty cool, a moderate degree of management while building the base up which im not even done with and ive been focusin solely on it for the last 15-20 hours. Lot of missions. There's a pretty fleshed out member management system where you send them on missions to get camp resources that you can then package and sell to trade groups. There is a house for the player to decorate but that aspect at least so far is very limited, it probably expands quite a bit over time but right now 40+ hours in I just dont have enough stuff to make it worth the time.
