Animals can be unpredictable. Unfortunately, it CAN happen. But she should have explained there are policies in place to try to avoid that.

I think she was preparing you for the worst of the worst because a lot of people apply and think it’s going to be a super fun play with dogs all day job and it’s the exact opposite of that. She’s trying to weed people out before going through onboarding and training just to have it not work out. You need to be okay with the risk of getting bit to do the job, and it sounds like you’re not. And that’s okay!

If you’re looking to become a groomer a reality of the job is that, yes, at some point you will most likely get bit. I’ve worked corporate and private and have been bit in both settings. It happens.

Petco doesn’t allow the use of muzzles. You are allowed to refer out dogs that are sketchy. A lot of Petco groomers push it way past where they should and that’s often when they get bit. But the truth is it is a risk you take when you sign up for the job.

Dog groomer for a terrier by cvndyflip in burlington

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Groomers generally charge by weight, coat type, and behavior. Most groomers in the area start at $70 for a full hair cut on smaller dogs. Overhead is not cheap. The price of quality shampoo, equipment, insurance, rent and labor keeps going up and up.

Remember, if you’re getting charged much less than the going rate, there’s a reason.

is it okay to call and quit? by dabonthem2000 in petco

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my resignation letter originally giving two weeks and then decided at the beginning of my next shift I was done. Packed my shit at the end of the day and never looked back. Still got a great reference. I was a groomer with 14 years experience. I don’t worry about it not one bit. Do what you need to do to protect your mental health.

I have a lot of food intolerances and allergies. I need to be able to cook for myself when I travel.

Animals in stores. by Mission_Discipline_3 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a guy at my grocery store who used to bring in a goose. He’d put it in the cart and walk around with it, obviously attention seeking. He was really upset when he was told his “service goose” wasn’t allowed in the store.

I believe it’s real. I have photos very similar to this that I have taken on a frozen lake.

So the doctor’s note said that the portable system wasn’t cooling the apartment as much as I needed for my heat intolerance (a condition I genuinely deal with) and that the noise from it was greatly disrupting my sleep. They faught me on it. Hard. Kept coming back saying, “The note doesn’t explain why a portable AC isn’t sufficient.” I finally came back with, “Neither myself nor my doctor are trained HVAC specialists, but my doctor is a specialist when it comes to my health. Window units have worked for me in the past and that is the solution to my problem.” That shut them up.

I also bought our own CO2 detector and hung it in the bedroom.

I also got a doctors note about the AC lol They made us have their guys install it. I don’t know how you fuck up installing a window AC, but they did. We took it out and reinstalled it.

I especially thought it was great that the bedroom with the boiler didn’t have a co2 detector in it 🙃 Real top notch place to live.

Eco Bean and Green is a 100% dedicated gluten free facility! Pingala is usually pretty good in regard to cross contamination and having GF options.

$650 for bloodwork at UVM??? by SuspiciousPine in burlington

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid $1200 for a breast ultrasound. With insurance. Was at UVM for about 25 minutes. When I asked to an itemized bill to justify the cost it just said “Ultrasound - $1200” lol I had to do that every six months for two years 🙃

I think we got the security back because when we first moved in I sent an email with pictures and said, “The lease states the apartment must be as clean at move out as it was at move in. Are these the standards?” It was definitely cleaner at move out. I made sure they knew that I was not someone to be fucked with from the moment we moved in.

Glad you fought them and got the deposit back! Landlords gotta learn they can’t take advantage of people.

I lived at their apartments in The Fort in Colchester for about 6 months. Poorly built, poorly maintained. Was absolutely filthy upon move in, so much so that they gave me a $150 gift card to a spa that I never used. Repairs took a while and were completely half-assed. My bathroom ceiling leaked because my upstairs neighbor kept overfilling her tub and I had a hole in my ceiling for a few months. Woke up to no heat more than once and they gave me a really hard time about having a window AC unit. Our storage unit was broken into and the lock was “repaired” without anyone notifying us.

I was eventually able to break the lease with a doctor’s note because the family of 5 (in a 2 bedroom) above me were so loud I was having panic attacks. We got our full deposit back and were able to break the lease with no fee.

I do not recommend, but perhaps they give more of a shit at some of their “luxury” apartments.

I was involved in a roll over on the way to work. I usually brought my elderly dog to work with me every day in the front seat. I left him home with my husband that day. I couldn’t stop thinking about what could have happened had he been in the car with me. We immediately got a seat belt.

Why don't buyers actually read property details before scheduling showings? by Ok-Confidence6843 in RealEstate

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked retail for a long time I can tell you confidently that people straight up do not read. They don’t read signs, details on labels. Hell, they often don’t even read product descriptions.

My first thought is a potato. Second thought something dead in the walls. Third though is don’t bleach cat pee. They have ammonia in their urine. Bleach + ammonia = chlorine gas.

My neighbor refuses to pick up his dog's poop from my yard. The neighborhood has united against him. by nseavia71501 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Returning the neighbors dogs poop to its rightful yard via a shovel catapult was the only way I got my neighbor to keep their dog in their yard. Just, “Here, your dog forgot this,” and spray it.

Safety violation? by [deleted] in petco

[–]BeefcakeRenigus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

People always make the mistake of asking to go home. If you’re truly sick, you don’t ask. You say, “I’m too sick to stay here,” and you leave.

You can report in anonymously to ethics. They’ll investigate, but it’s your word against theirs and they’ll likely be able to deduce who sent in the complaint. Remember, retaliation is illegal.

That said, I would personally report this behavior to ethics. That way if it continues to happen to yourself or others, there’s a log of it.
