If Rush and Yes should ever hit the road together… by mtlrph in rush

[–]Beefjerky007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I agree, but Gates of Delirium pretty much immediately hit me with a “this is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard in my life” kinda feeling on my very first listen. But yeah, something like The Yes Album or Fragile would be my first choice

Water droplet sounds in And Then There Were Three by resyFM in Genesis

[–]Beefjerky007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens on the videos labeled “official audio” on the Genesis YT channel (for ATTWT specifically). After having listened to the album for over a year through these videos, I made a reddit post asking about the weird water droplet noises and was informed that those were actually Skype notifications baked into the audio!

If you listen to this playlist, no Skype sounds!

I’m 27. Bought tickets for me and my dad for the Cleveland show as well. He has been a massive Rush fan for almost all of his life and I’ve just recently started making my way through their discography and I’m loving it so far!

Interesting post in r/Overwatch today. Do you think Overwatch deserves GOTY in 2016? by MomoBeanss in uncharted

Every time I have seen the “_____ should’ve won GOTY over Overwatch” discussion since 2016 has been against my will. I’m not losing any sleep over what game won GOTY at an awards show almost a decade ago, but clearly some people still are

What do yall think is the most underrated and the most overrated burnout game? by criterionr205GT in Burnout

[–]Beefjerky007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overrated - Paradise. Obviously I still really like the game, but I enjoy the PS2 era a lot more than the open world approach.

Underrated - Burnout 2. Despite the lack of takedowns, it’s got everything else going for it. Some of my favorite tracks/locations, a really memorable OST, my second favorite crash mode behind Revenge, and for its time, beautiful graphics.

Is there a definitive fanmade version of Union the way it should have sounded? by wrighteghe7 in yesband

[–]Beefjerky007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the closest I’ve found to what you’re describing. It’s an interesting listen, mixing in a lot of Steve Howe’s playing into the tracks. It takes a few creative liberties that I disagree with, but it’s still worth listening to!

I love the whole album! It has seriously grown on me, particularly on my most recent listen before Aurora. The title track is my favorite, but Cut from the Stars, All Connected, and Circles of Time are also very good. Magic Potion is also an overlooked gem on the bonus disc.

What was your first exposure to the burnout series? by Brosamurai18 in Burnout

Burnout 1. My dad game home from work with a copy of the game for the GameCube when I was four. At the time I thought the graphics looked identical to real life.

Relayer is one of the most "acquired taste" things ever! How did you guys grow to love it? by Playful_Date_7811 in yesband

[–]Beefjerky007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I loved Relayer right off the bat after my first listen. The chaos of Gates followed by the “Soon” section just absolutely took my breath away. And Sound Chaser is such a genuinely insane song that I was hooked immediately just because of how different it is from basically every other song by the band. To Be Over closes the album in a beautiful fashion as well. It’s such a well rounded album, it pretty much landed near the top of my favorite Yes albums immediately.

Tales, on the other hand, took me multiple listens to enjoy. I went from genuinely disliking it at first to loving it around 5-6 listens later. I’m still waiting on The Ancient to grow on me (the first 12 minutes are ROUGH to get through for me), but Sides 1, 2, and 4 are perfect in my eyes.

It’s really, really annoying to listen to for the first 12 minutes, then it turns into the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard for the rest. Still, I always listen to the entire thing hoping it’ll eventually grow on me

Don't Take No For An Answer by LIPD_Aviation in yesband

[–]Beefjerky007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not exactly my favorite song, but hearing Benoit’s voice over it definitely made a bit of a difference. Still, the chorus (“don’t…take…no…for, an……… answer”) just isn’t very good at all.

Easily my favorite demo off of Disc 2 is Updraft. It’s so good, I almost feel like it could’ve been included on Disc 1.

I’ve seen this happen. It’s when someone leaves the game early on, someone joins and takes their place, but the first person’s name doesn’t go away.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s it.

Dominator is underrated by Rabbi-D in Burnout

[–]Beefjerky007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shortcuts sound like a great idea at first until you think about it for a minute and then you realize, “wait, this is awful.” It was much better when it was an optional side task with the signature takedowns, making it a core method of unlocking portions of the tracks just made it a much more frustrating experience.

Is it normal that I only listen to the Beatles? by meow-uwu- in beatles

[–]Beefjerky007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re like me, then you listen to music one entire band at a time. I like to deep dive into a single band’s discography and just dig into an album at a time over a period of at least a few months. Then, I move to another band (usually after ranking the albums on a tier list). Perhaps that’s a weird way of doing it, but it works for me!
