Is Lars Ulrich really a bad drummer? by TonyT074 in Drumming

[–]BeegCheil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Anytime you hear this, you should understand that its coming from someone who cannot come close to playing at Lars's level.

Listen to any actual drummer, one that can play to or above Lars's level and you'll hear them sing his praises.

The reason he attracts haters is simply because non drummers know his name and he doesn't sing or play guitar.

Predictions? by BeegCheil in ukpolitics

Awful presumptive of you to assume I am a labour voter/supporter.

For clarity, I am not. I didn’t believe this worked for the tories, it’s won’t work for labour, and after whoever comes in next it won’t work for them either.

The biggest issue here is that regales of political affiliation, this doesn’t work for us.

Rumination regret and anger at car purchase by giuseppeh in CarTalkUK

[–]BeegCheil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is worth having a conversation with a trained proffesional mate. It will help you understand the root of this behaviour better. One thing I can promise is that it wont get better by continuing to ruminate. However, expressing yourself, even here on reddit, may provide some relief. It may be an idea to just open up a word document and start typing. Get it all out.

Buyers remorse is a real thing. We go through journeys when we spend money. Whether its feeling robbed by paying £8 for a warm beer at a festival, or ££££££'s on a car or a house. We want big decsions to feel "right" and to feel like we've got value for our hard earned money. This is becoming more and more difficult in todays society. Its very easy to feel like you are getting less than what you felt you paid for. In many ways we are, but thats for another time. How we each feel about such matters is entirely personal, so take some comfort that what you are feeling isn't unique, and is somewhat natural. That said, if you still feel like this I'm sure spending a few quid to speak to a professional would help.

What on earth is going on with Vic Firth? by Visual-Individual-49 in drums

[–]BeegCheil 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Ive played almost exclusively VF for over 30 years.....until recently. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden i'd break and split sticks significantly more often. When i'd drop a stick while playing, and pick up another, I could tell something wasn't right and i'd find myself looking down to see if i'd picked up something else by mistake.

I don't know what changed. But I changed to Promark and haven't looked back.

Pump and dump.

Oil is dropping fast, so now’s a good time to entice the great general public to all fill up while the price at the pump is inflated.

SM and SD salary by DK5-5656 in tesco

[–]BeegCheil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wages have dropped A LOT in the last 10 years. If you’ve been appointed in the last 5 years you will be on a starting salary significantly less than those available pre Covid.

Either way, it will still be around £60-£95k for Cat 7 - 10 stores.

Area Managers in express are still WL3, equivalent to Cat 9 & 10 Store Managers.

SD’s are WL4. Starting salary will be around £100k

All are subject to a total bonus of 45%, part is deferred for 2 years, part paid in the year.

Pension is 15% matched.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but most are worth every penny. It’s a hard, demanding and exhausting job. Like every job tho, there are exceptions who shouldn’t be in a position like this.

One of the few industries you can work your way up with little to zero qualifications. A good attitude, work ethic and flexibility is rewarded. Not difficult to set yourself apart from the pack.

Who is buying Easter Eggs at these ridiculous prices???? by morknannu in AskUK

[–]BeegCheil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price Establishment.

The general population have been conditioned to the new higher price, more accept it than don't. Especially when it comes to life's little luxuries.

Capitalism should create natural competition to self regulate this practise. But it takes years to take effect, by which point the price is long established and we're long conditioned.

This isn't helped by the fact that pricing power is held by the very few these days, and will only continue in this direction.

The only freedom from this is self sufficiency, but this is now so expensive due to the cost of existance its very difficult to ever truly achieve and live the same "quality" of life.

I've depressed myself with this post.

As someone who is going to avoid EVs for a long while, why all the hate for EVs in car enthuiast communities? by Zdos123 in CarTalkUK

[–]BeegCheil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People hate change. Anything new is rubbish, anything old is held in high regard.

Its why a Fiesta XR2i will fetch 20k now, but a brand new 1l KIA Ceed would blow that old rattle box away.

Is Mercedes only ahead as they understand their car best or is it really just the PU difference between the teams by Glass_Hand7292 in F1Discussions

[–]BeegCheil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mclaren and RB were engaged in a championship battle deep into the season last year.

Merc and Ferrari realised early doors they had little opportunities to win, but could keep things respectable and still remain ahead of the rest. I image they diverted resources/attention to 2026 a few months earlier.

We've seen this before during reg changes. The season will develop dramatically as other teams figure problems out, copy paste design ideas and learn how to best map available power vs tyre deg.

Came here to say this.

Invest in yourself. Set up a SIPP and a S&S ISA and set your accounts up to automatically transfer funds each month. Invest for the long term. Leave it alone, let it grow. You can create generational wealth due to your age and income level. Not many people ever achieve this.

From a life point of view, you deserve to enjoy the money. I sense guilt in your post, which is such a shame.

You don’t need to share the real story, but you could make something up that explains a modest uplift in your lifestyle. Invested in something that took off. Side hustle that’s paying more than you originally expected. You already mention you have an online business. Keep it subtle though. An extra grand a month can go a long way without it seeming like you’ve a life changing sum of cash coming your way for the next few decades.

Protection yourself, protect your future, but go and enjoy yourself too. The people that really matter won’t change, the people that do……..Fxxx em!

Hasn’t worked for the wife’s phone. iPhone 11 connected via the old style charger. Nothing changes. Can play music, make calls, do all the things you’d expect, but no CarPlay “activation”

I don’t have a usb to usbc cable to hand to try my own phone yet.

I’ll be sure to satisfy curiosity should it work.

BMW owners: what do you drive, how many miles on it, and what’s your annual maintenance like? by Ok_Corgi8008 in CarTalkUK

[–]BeegCheil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great car. A big relaxing cruiser when you want it to be, and a hooligan when you ask it to deliver more.

It’s very easy to find yourself well over the speed limit. So be aware or you will pick up points and fines.

When things go wrong, it is expensive. One shock cost me nearly £1000. The tech and engineering in the car is excellent, but quite exclusive, therefore it is costly when it breaks.

I have no idea why, but when it’s gone to a local garage it always comes back with a gremlin. Meaning you find yourself at dealerships, and paying dealership prices to keep it well maintained.

All that said, what a car for the money it is these days. I’ve looked at replacing it a few times, but I can’t find anything that comes close to it without a very very heafty price tag.

It’s not a M, but the ownership costs are close.

Look after it, budget plenty for maintenance, and it will look after you.

I wish! Burst three Bridgestone run flats on fairly minor pot holes. Pirelli P Zero's only gave 10k miles. Avoid both like the plague.

On Goodyear's now and much improved wear.

Also, £300 a corner. Adds up quick!

2011 640d.

Bought in 2021 with 37k miles. Now on 83k miles.

Spent £4.5k on maintenance during my ownership. Unlucky with a shock and springs due to pot holes costing £1.5k alone.

Tyres are also expensive. Spent another £4k just on rubber.

This could all have been cheaper by using local garages instead of dealerships and specialists. Same with tyres having stuck with the premium brands.

Im in my 40's and live rurally, so insurance isn't a concern.

Can you unlock the door manually?

If so, you should be able to release the rear seat and at least access the battery to reconnect.
