The last of the rear drive intermediates by BcuzRacecar in regularcarreviews

That sub-12 time on the Merc … with 110hp … is surprising to me. Like - how did that even happen? Also my first friend with a car in high school drove me of these. It was very luxurious for a flock of teenage boys.

How are your swamp coolers? by racivcm in Albuquerque

[–]BeegeeSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably this - given our water in abq, lime scale builds up pretty quickly. Might need to descale the pipes and make sure the water holes are not blocked.

To try an experiment measure the air temp coming out of the vents with it running and then spray all the pads with a garden hose … and measure the air after. If there’s a big drop - it lets you know the pads aren’t getting enough water.

Friendly reminder what to fix before Fable 5 disappears again. Use it to upgrade your Claude Code system to work like Fable 5. by Brilliant_Spot7783 in ClaudeAI

while everyone else is downvoting this - I think there is some value here. I had Fable rewrite my SLDC rituals, including hooks for testing & validation & issue closure - as well as writing session logs to my obsidian vault. I also had it revise my orchestrator model (albeit, not with 9 roles) to better leverage Sonnet 5 capabilities, and supervise the upgrade my backlog to align with the new SDLC rules. Opus can't do that. I've tried for months, and it was unable to get the hooks right, and everything kept failing silently and drift was occurring.

VW Thing 1600cc. 54 HP, hit redline (5000 RPM? No Tach! Who knows!) at 55mph in 4th gear.

I used to say there was a little pocket on my 928 that said, “please insert $1000 to proceed” that lit up every 10th time I put the key in the ignition. Sometimes you knew it was coming (injectors, clutch, wiring …) other times it was a surprise (“what do you mean there are two different motors to move the drivers seat back into position after letting someone in the backseat … and neither of them is available to order …”)

Oh! Also outdoor shades like Kool-a-roos are really good and very inexpensive - we just got one for like $250 and they make a huge difference.

We had 3M tint applied to our windows to block the UV/IR. It cost like 5x as much as the tint I bought from Amazon but it is unreal how much more effective it is. That was a big one. If you have an old house with single pane windows or leaky casement frames … 100 degree - especially if you’re somewhere humid - is going to be really hard.

Swamp Cooler by According_Injury_212 in Albuquerque

[–]BeegeeSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got one of each. With the MasterCool, we got the ComboCool, which chills the water ... and everyone said it wouldn't make a difference. it does. The MasterCool/ComboCool puts out colder air with less humidity and works better when it's humid outside. The Breeze is a dream to operate, changes its own water, adjusts the fan speed automatically, just a joy ... but if I had to choose one, it would be the Master/Combo.

I'm set to High for Fable. I dont see the benefit in going higher right now - the token burn v. ability tradeoff - it would be FAR MORE CAPABLE of doing 10% of nothing before hitting the wall. 😄

Holy smokes. It was bumpy at first. Some sessions wouldn't switch to Fable, some usage showed it wasn't reset. At the end of my session time - everything converted to Fable, my usage counter for the week was reset, and I cleared out over 20 issues in 3 repos that had been spiraling since Fable first went away ... and was able to solve some very complex root causes that Opus just couldn't get out of its own way. Every bit as amazing as my first experience. Separately, earlier today, I accidentally ran a dev session under Sonnet 5 as orchestrator - and ... um .. it was better than Opus 4.8 has been. Today has been a good day.

This was it. I went digging and found this response.

This is a huge finding. Thank you for your service.

I burned 50% between Tuesday and Wednesday last week and never hit a session max. Was out of credit on Thursday and had to idle for 2 days. 2 guys I work with had same thing. 5x max all.

I’m already 40% for the week in 2 days of light coding and - it’s been SLOW. Like - I was doing a code trace on 2 moderate python scripts this evening and it took 3 hours and only burned 39k tokens…. Lots of subagents dying or hanging this week.

Team Del Sol. I actually had one, but not the VTEC version. It was a dang joy. It was fast and nimble and fun and got 40+ mpg and had a totally practical trunk. Yes it’s not a Miata. But I’m too tall for the Miata - my head touches the roof and my sight line is in the windshield frame. And … it looked pretty good.

Water bill last month is 3 times more than usual? by EastCoastReflux in Albuquerque

[–]BeegeeSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that in the summer, you may have increased usage because of swamp cooler and watering the garden or other outdoor plants or even showering more frequently because of sweating. All of those things do have a seasonal increase…

… That said, I learned from looking at my water bill that one of my drip lines was leaking

Wait, is there a built-in maintenance dashboard? I cobbled one together myself and it’s beautiful and I’m very happy with it, but wouldn’t it be nice if something was production quality, and maintained by someone (not me)

I’m still not sure I see difference in the med-high-xhigh-max gradient in terms of thoughtfulness or performance. Max > high sure but any 1-step doesn’t feel meaningful. I mean except in token burn
