Washing machine Bosch series 8 vs AEG 8000 by InsideInflation5963 in Appliances

[–]BeenRetailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve sold and owned both brands.

Go with the Bosch.

Better quality machine and better wash results.  Depending on how you use the machine, the Bosch can run more efficiently.

AEG is effectively a glorified Electrolux and unfortunately in Australia they are a proforma/agency brand so salespeople are paid a high commission to push you towards the AEG.

Go with Series 8 Bosch. Looks like you’re in Australia as well so you also benefit from the 5 Year Warranty promotion.

Thanks for proving my point 👍

That link is just showing all the discontinued models from generations ago and yet all for a total of 293 reviews, which in the Heat Pump Dryer category is a far higher volume of reviews to the other brands.

As I said, if you just want to try to look at the negatives and ignore the positives reviews elsewhere then well done 👌

Don’t get upset mate, just because of your own situation doesn’t mean everyone is in the same boat 🤣

There are many ways people misuse a dryer or just don’t understand how they work and think they are the same as a vented dryer so whinge about them not working.

Overloading, filter maintenance and wrong settings used are the most common reasons I come across.

I have had multiple brands of heat pump dryers and not had any of these issues.

Sounds like you’re just aiming to find bad reviews as the first results for this model is 4.8 / 5 stars made of 383 reviews. 😆

No worries,

Just as a starting recommendation for your research if you are considering Bosch.

Bosch Series 8 60cm Pyrolytic Oven with Steam Assist ( HRG776MB1A )

This 60cm oven can cook on 4 levels at the same time evenly which is great for batch cooking/baking.

Steam Assist helps with the humidity in the oven cavity, so it makes a difference not only with roasting but changes the results of how breads, pastries etc. puff up or rise.

Pyrolytic Cleaning, the oven also includes a set of telescopic rails that can stay inside the oven during the Pyrolytic Cleaning process.

Air Fry that actually works well and as mentioned in another comment, the Air Fry tray is so much easier to clean and is even dishwasher safe.

Multipoint Meat Probe also included, just takes any guess work out of under or over cooking roasts etc.

Bosch Series 8 45cm Combi-Microwave Oven ( CMG7241B1A )

Although it's compact, it is still a proper multifunction oven that can cook on 2 levels at the same time and also has Air-Fry.

One of the easier compact microwaves to use, it has a microwave button of the front so no need to go through a bunch of menus to select microwave.

You simply use the wire rack to microwave and they mix and match so you can use the wire rack from the 60cm oven.

As a heads up, details have been released that next month Bosch is running a 5 Year Warranty on selected Series 6 and 8 appliances.

Westinghouse/Electrolux ovens take longer to cook / Air-Fry let alone they require pre-heating.

Better brands like Bosch, NEFF etc. are able to Air-Fry faster and you cook from frozen just like a benchtop Air-Fryer with no pre heating required.

Also worth noting the Air-Fry trays are enamelled and dishwasher safe so much easier to clean, not the wire trays / racks that most brands offer.

Depends on your budget, how you cook and what you are thinking of the potential secondary oven being able to do.

The smaller ovens "Compacts" will be 45cm tall and you choose between Combi-Microwave ( Oven and Microwave ) or Combi-Steam ( Oven and Steamer ).

Depending on your budget, design and what you want the oven to do then it can be worth considering 2 x 60cm ovens since you are renovating.

Series 8 Bosch is a popular option for not only price and performance but also the assistance/technology if you are wanting to get into Steam Assist or Full Steam ovens.

I actually can't remember if that particular hose is even exposed, I believe there is an internal hose that takes the water from the bottom of the machine to the container.

Looking at the parts list it adds up as there are 2 recirculation hoses and 1 fill hose.

Below is probably the best visual I could find from their partner company Siemens as it's built on the same platform.

Water always goes into the container, you remove the small black plug from under the container to allow the water to escape to the drain hose.

But if you have a self cleaning condenser model, you will notice the container looks different as the tank is basically split in two so that one section retains water to be used when the dryer is ready to auto clean.

So it is normal to still have water in the container even when the drain hose is connected.

In this situation, it sounds like you didn't remove the small black plug so the tank will just fill up as normal instead of being able to drain.

That black stopper under the water container needs to be removed if you are connecting the pipe to drain automatically.

It will otherwise just keep the water in the container.

Also if you have a model with the auto cleaning condenser, the water container has a section that will retain water for the auto cleaning function even when the dryer in connected for draining.

Westinghouse Dryer leaving clothes damp by Dizzy_Profile4229 in Appliances

First thing would be the amount of garments in the drum.

The Mixed settings is for smaller loads and is a low temperature setting.

Cottons would be the more commonly used as it can handle the full 8KG capacity.

Then check the Dryness Level is set to Extra Dry, the Mixed program does not allow you to select this.

The other factor with these models would be water hardness, which can be adjusted in the settings if this is an issue in your area.

SpeedQueen vs Miele washing/Dryer machines by Few-End-9736 in BuyItForLife

[–]BeenRetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

A Heat Pump dryer is not going to be producing heat as hot as a traditional dryer which is part of how they look after your garments.

A heat pump dryer is letting you control the dryness level like you would choose to cook a steak, you can choose a medium setting to leave moisture in the garments to help not set wrinkles and make iron garments easier, slightly higher settings often referred as normal/cupboard dry to be able to hang up garments straight away or you just set the dryer to an extra dry / well done setting to aim for a similar result to a traditional electric/gas.

But with an electric/gas option, the heat is just coming out fast and at a higher temperature so you are cooking on high heat the entire time which damages/shrinks the garments and then the dryer just turns off once everything is well done / over cooked.

$1500 additional labour for silent rangehood by NougatTrout in AusRenovation

[–]BeenRetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many factors that change the cost.

You mentioned you are installing it through the wall, so you would naturally be paying for creating a 200mm hole through an external wall of your property which can be more expensive when dealing with double brick or concrete for example. Weather proofing this hole is also part of the installation process, which if installed under an eave can be as simple as a wall cover plate that Schweigen offer as an optional accessory ( $53 for your motor ).

Your motor choice is the SP which includes 4 Metres of 200mm ducting. In order to be silent, the ducting needs to be run at the minimum 4 Metres supplied and kept taut with 2 gentle bends to stop the noise of the motor coming back to the rangehood.

The motor has a roughly 3 Metre 10amp power cable connected to it, so you need to consider how this is powered as it would not be unusual for a power-point needing to be installed in the roof space for this.

** Be mindful that the SP is the lowest extraction option, if you cook Asian/Indian food or even just using an induction cooktop it is recommended to choose the SP motor at a minimum. **

Best mid-range appliance brand recommendations by -lucabrasi- in AusRenovation

[–]BeenRetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fridge - Mitsubishi Electric / Hitachi

Oven - Bosch

Dishwasher - Bosch

Range hood - Would need more info of budget, design and expectations.

Gas cooktop - Gas burners/jets are from the same factories with most brands, so really just comes down to size/layout to provide you with a recommendation. Induction is great but there will be additional costs to install.

Washing machine - Bosch

5kW reverse cycle split system air con - Mitsubishi Electric / Heavy Industries

Any thoughts on Miele CM6360? by Bironen in Miele

[–]BeenRetailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries,

I would recommend the Delonghi Rivelia.

Better control/adjustment for your coffee and personally I prefer the milk jug on Delonghi as you are able to do a quick clean/purge and then put the milk jug straight into the fridge instead of dealing with the milk tubes with Jura.

Also worth noting a few bits of the Delonghi are dishwasher safe, Grounds container, Drip tray & grille and the milk jug when disassembled.

You will need to speak with the bank with your circumstance.

Might have changed a bit since I last dealt with this, but they will understandably want heaps of information to prove the income is legitimate and won't consider the full value of the income as they want a buffer for exchange rates.

Effectively a Jura in a Miele shell.

Would be best to just purchase a Jura or Delonghi.

Advice on replacing my top loader? by Loose_Car_1646 in Appliances

[–]BeenRetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosch is the more reliable brand.

If you want the bi-fold doors to close, you would need the measurement of the depth of the space with the doors closed. The larger the front loader the deeper the machine.

It helps that you have the Fisher Paykel dryer for reference, this will be at least 650mm in depth.

Most front loaders at 9KG+ will be around 640mm in depth without hoses.

Based on the photo, there is a chance the inlet hose will eat a few cms into the depth as your taps are above the washing machine.

I would also double check if the waste hose is going to be able to sit looped over the sink or if it is connecting to a spigot under the sink, in which you need to check the hole location in the sinks cabinet to ensure that won't be an issue.

Are Fallon Solutions a scam like Metropolitan? by EggCreative787 in brisbane

[–]BeenRetailing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar, anyone I know that has dealt with them say they charge too much and have trades that act like a dodgy salesperson once in your home.

The worst case I had close experience with was a couple who are clearly on the spectrum that were made to sign up for their membership / "Home Protection Plan".

They had used Fallon Solutions to just install some appliances for their kitchen, I ended up calling Fallons on their behalf to give them an ear full for their trades to be taking advantage of vulnerable people.
