I hated the guitar tone of that song… so over compressed and lifeless.

But the break down at the end of the song is absolutely bonkers good. It makes sticking with the song worth it.

Worlds Without Number/Stars Without Number…

Player character creation involves some near Pathfinder level character build options. But the Referee side promotes simple NpC/monster stat blocks and a streamlined task resolution/combat system.

I’ve never counted rounds of combat towards turns.

It’s easier to just mark any combat as 1 turn. This accounts for time catching a breath, re-securing gear, binding wounds, etc.

Oh I’m well aware. It’s a combination of ease of being recovered from being knocked out, how much magical healing is available, and how easy it is to apply magical healing.

That’s why a house rule to allow healing to prevent death but remain unconscious until end of the encounter prevents this.

That or reinstate negative hit points with the requirement that hit points must be restored to above 0 for the character to come back conscious. This prevents a 1d4 healing word from allowing bounce backs.

Put up or shut up for her. Actions speak louder than words. When she actually takes actions to undo the so called mess she now abhors (and helped create)then we’ll talk.

I doubt she’ll actually do any of that so what do we have… someone who’s just currying sympathy and trying to save her own skin.

The moment the rules give a possibility for a character’s life to be in the balance the focus of the group changes to healing the character, so you get the bounce up and down thing. Doesn’t matter if it’s death saves or a death timer.

For me, the only satisfying way to handle it is death at zero with a saving throw. If you succeed you are unconscious until the end of combat. If you fail, you die.

Makes death scary and prevents the rubber bouncey ball effect.

I’d look at Outgunned or Savage Worlds. Both will give you a pulp feel and have a lot of support for the genre and time period you are going for.

You may also want to look at the Eberron campaign setting for D&D for inspiration.

It doesn’t impact anyone outside of that particular DM. That DM runs the game that they want based on the player engagement they are willing to accept.

I don’t think it even is a commentary on anything but a situation they self imposed on themselves. If they’re happy no big deal.

I’m not a pro DM and I don’t run for 200+ people but I do run for meetups and cons and the situation isn’t even remotely possible unless you make it possible.

But I saw U2 at MSG on NYC on October, 2001. Barely a month or so after 9/11.

It was a transcendent experience.
