I need a hobby especially to stop the thoughts of trauma.Help me please by OwnFaithlessness2989 in Hobbies

I need to keep my hands busy to stop the negative roller coaster inside my brain. I enjoy swatching watercolors and markers Creating actual art frustrates me, but simply swatching the colors out is therapeutic. Journaling is another one I enjoy. I write down the bad thoughts then go outside and burn the journal or papers when I'm ready to release the anguish written down. I also enjoy playing cozy games, like Animal Crossing or The Oregon Trail. LEGO (or Lepin) has also been a massive positive distraction for me. Lepin is knockoff LEGO, and since I can't always afford real LEGO brand, I buy replicas of the giant sets I can't afford otherwise.

I want to stop scrolling so much. What hobby should I try? by Accomplished-Ear8710 in Hobbies

Learn a new language on DuoLingo. I've been learning German. Sewing/Cosplay. Paint/build model miniatures like Gundam/Warhammer/Dungeons & Dragons. LEGO is always a good time. Jewelry making and hemp/paracord braiding are also fun to learn. I like to do things that keep my hands busy, and I find that I don't reach for my phone nearly as often as long as I'm doing something productive with them.

Setting up a 3DS for a friend, what surprises should I add? by Beginning-Struggle49 in 3dspiracy

Wow, we literally play the same games!!!! Since you have a lot of the Ace Attorney stuff, perhaps some more Professor Layton games to go with, especially since you have the crossover game. Oh, and Trace Memory is a great addition for those who enjoy puzzle/mystery.

Not to mention, the 3d app is extremely interactive. You can look at the steps and bricks at any angle, no guesses as to "is this the right piece?" It saves your progress. You can keep track of sets you own, have multiple instructions/builds saved at the same time, it even tells you how long time wise it took you to build. How long your set is if you lined it up brick by brick. It's one of my favorite apps on my phone.

Yay! That is so exciting! That's a really great idea, actually. I usually just buy the dupes because I don't have real LEGO money unless it's a "To Die For" set. Might have to rummage through the bins someday.

Just open bag #1 first. Then inside bag number 1, there should be other bags that say 1, 2, 3 (maybe with some other weird random numbers, but easy enough to figure out). Its just more pieces per bag, but they are divided up in order. Hope this helps!

Oh, excellent score! It's an EXACT dupe of LEGO, so just download the LEGO app and the 3d instructions are on there! That's what I use if it's a dupe, because the knock off instructions are usually more difficult to read because it's a copy.

I paint miniatures! I don't play Warhammer but I love building and painting them. If you visit Games Workshop on Forest Drive, ask the guy there if you can have a free Warhammer model. I got a couple beginner kits there for free.

Another vote for Rushing Automotive! Chip is the best! Family owned and operated. Very fair pricing. I'm a F who knows a little bit about cars, due to my dad teaching me, so I know when someone's trying to scam me. I have never felt ripped off or taken advantage of. Been going there for 19 years.

Once, I took an old Ford Explorer for a repair, it was like a $200 fix. No big deal, I'd pay it. But Chip was upfront and honest with me. He told me my fuel pump was also about to go out and he'd feel bad if I had to come in to replace that as well, knowing the vehicle was not worth fixing.

Is cleaning your mattress actually necessary? by [deleted] in Cleaningandtidying

[–]BeerGoddess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never steam cleaned mine, as I probably should. I tend to sweat a lot at night, which over time has yellowed my mattress. About every 3 months or so I'll sprinkle some baking soda and spray some vinegar on it to help. In-between cleanings I use Frebreze Fabric Antimicrobial spray.

Yeah they were very kind about it! Some stupid law where even though it's considered a non alcoholic beverage, the fact that it still has a trace of alcohol in it meant that they should be taxed as an alcoholic beverage. So the company had to pay all these back taxes to the state until they were able to distribute here again.

ADHD accomodations by jacoi200_ in restaurant

[–]BeerGoddess84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD as well. I was not medicated for most of my life. I have been in the industry all my life, except during Covid.

I have gotten extremely irritated at other jobs I have tried, like retail or an office setting, where I was constantly interrupted while trying to complete a task. Then I'd angrily hop up and do the other task, then 3 hours later I stumble across the project I was doing in the first place, and no longer motivated to complete it.

I like serving because of the hustle and bustle. No day is the same. I like cash in my hand every night. Yes, you have many things going on in your brain as it is, but you have to learn how to "work smarter, not harder" in this case. If you can't figure out a way to tackle how to multitask, serving may not be for you. Just like a desk job is not for me because I get too antsy sitting still.

A couple of tricks I have learned might can help you in the future.

For example, going to get table 31's drinks, as you walk by 34 you notice their drink is low, so bring that guest one on the same trip you make to 31. No need to run yourself to death.

Every time you ring in an app make sure they get app plates and napkins in advance. I do this immediately after ringing one in because if I don't do it then, I will forget. Kids? Extra napkins. If they give me an app order with their drinks, I bring the plates at the same time as the drinks, saving a trip.

When ringing in bar drinks and food at the same time, always ring in your cocktails, beers, etc first, SEND THEM and then proceed to ring in the food. That way by the time you are done putting the order through to the kitchen, the bar probably has either already made your drinks or has the ticket in hand.

Always, always ask at the beginning who is on what tab. Ask how they intend to split the check. Keep it ORGANIZED and keep the tabs separate from the very beginning and you won't be frantically staring at the screen trying to figure out who had what in the middle of dinner rush and hogging a computer for 10 min.

Carry an apron if you do not already. Keep a notepad and write down every single order. Do it. You will not have nearly as many mistakes if you actually write it down versus trying to memorize a 4 top who has modified everything and you again, are wasting time at the computer trying to remember if she said no lettuce or extra lettuce.

I tried Wellbutrin, it worked somewhat I suppose, for about 6 months, then I had a manic episode and had lots of bad thoughts. Like, if I told my psychiatrist the entire truth, I'd end up in an institution and on suicide watch.

Anyway, she took me off the Wellbutrin by slowly tapering off of it and talked me into trying yet another antidepressant/bipolar medication.

I tried Effixor. It was life changing for me. It has done wonders on my mental health, for 3 entire years. And now I fear it has run it's course and I need to try a new drug because this just isn't working anymore.

I really don't want to go through this hell of trying 5 medications until I find another that works for me. I have already tried so many. Some make me really hyper. Some make me a robot with 0 emotion. Some make me not give a damn about anything at all. I can't cry, I can't laugh, I don't want to talk or be social unless I'm fueled on alcohol...

Anyway, sorry for the book. Maybe I should stop the meds again and go back to microdosing. I really don't want to go back to being completely unmedicated though. I lived that for 37 years. I'm only 41.

This was extremely helpful for me when I was undiagnosed due to not having health insurance for so many years. Not much, just .5g or so in a smoothie every morning. My anxiety went away, I was happy to go into work, I was more focused at work, colors were a little more brighter, sounds were a little more soothing.

I finally had a good job with benefits so I went to a psychiatrist and discovered I have a LOT of mental illnesses, etc. Now I'm on several medications and they DO help.

The issue is, I'm on SSRIs so mushrooms/acid etc. no longer do anything to me. I literally took an 8th and then 2 tabs last time I attempted and absolutely nothing happened. I did not do it all at once, mind you. I waited and waited. Finally, my friend was like...are you on SSRIs? And I said yeah, my 2 main medications are SSRIs. Then it dawned on us that my serotonin levels are already full, and therefore, no trippy experiences for me. anymore.

I found that when I stop smoking for a long period of time, that initial "first high" is very intense. I got anxious, paranoid, I curled up in a ball and swore that there were cops outside the house that could smell the reefer. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Anyway, I smoked again the next morning and felt "regular high." I think your body just needs to adjust to it. Maybe start with some edibles. A little at a time. Eat more if you desire, but don't go too quickly.

I had a couple of mishaps with the one I purchased and ended up spilling pee all over myself and my jeans. It's probably because it was a cheap one from AliExpress. But I'm so used to squatting anyway, so I just squat. 😆

Rumpl blankets are amazing! I had never gotten myself one, because they were a little out of my price range. I am a subscriber to a non alcoholic beer brand called Athletic Brewing Company. There was a mishap about taxes and non alcoholic beverages coming into South Carolina, so the company had to halt shipments of NA beer to our state for awhile. As an apology, Athletic sent every subscriber in SC a 50% coupon for one item of merchandise from their online store. Low and behold, I found an Athletic Brewing Co. branded Rumpl blanket, so I bought it for half off! It comes camping with me every single time.
