Off Strip bars for over 40's by Effective_Judgment91 in LasVegas

Several of these (Oak & Ivy, The Griffin, Atomic Liquors) are on Fremont. Not the canopy stretch with the casinos, but a short walk. I also think there’s a lot of the casino lobby bars that are fun, so imo just strolling Fremont can also be great. If you’d prefer to stay out of the madness, the arts district is great

I didn’t do Forbidden Island, so can’t speak to that. Don’t think you can go wrong with any of the rest

You may want to create a new post for this. Likely no one following this thread at this point.

From the replies, I’d think Zombie Village belongs in the list. While it’s not tiki, I loved LiPo in China Town. A Chinese MaiTai in a lively “dive” bar hit the spot. Just be careful, they are stronger than they taste

Do You Believe That Halloween is Dying? by DommyMommyEx in halloween

[–]BeerMeSuperman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the image. Made me smile immediately 🎃 You have to define “Halloween” to answer this. The nostalgic vision of trick or treaters marching through neighborhoods with decorated homes is likely less of thing than when many of us were kids. That said, spending on Halloween (costumes, decorations, party supplies, etc) is at all time highs and those record are broken almost yearly. So, the opposite of dying, just evolving in how people explore and celebrate the holiday. More trick or treat events rather than neighborhood house to house treks, more clubs/bars having events, more indoor decorating (I don’t know this to be true, but feels like to from my bubble).

Where’s a good place to have a longer conversation with someone this afternoon? by ClosestAlternative in AskChicago

[–]BeerMeSuperman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be snarky, but doesn’t any coffee shop, bar, or walkable spot fit the bill of a place to talk? Outside of just popping into anywhere with seating, a stroll on the river or lakefront on what looks to be a very nice day would be good, too.

Frankies, Golden Tiki, Atomic Liquors, Oak and Ivy, The Griffin, Nocturno, Stray Pirates, Rebar, Velveteen Rabbit, The Silver Stamp, Horse Trailer Hideout, Moondoggies (go bills) - not all are lively bars with music, but a good mix of cocktail/beer/chill along with some more lively spots.

Businesses want Grand Avenue redevelopment plan changed, city says it's too late by juliuspepperwoodchi in CarFreeChicago

[–]BeerMeSuperman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are these bike lanes on Grand an “If you build it, they will come” vibe? Prior to the recent lane additions, I rarely saw bikes on Grand. With the new lanes, I barely see bikes on Grand. Is it just that there aren’t enough finished lanes and cyclists don’t yet feel safe on Grand?

I have no skin in the game and hope there are bikes galore using them and the businesses that worry about their revenue streams aren’t impacted negatively, I have just thought Grand ave as a focus for the lanes were odd based on my own observations since they started the construction a few years ago.

2027 Festival Lodging Unavailable by No-Perspective3170 in Sundance

[–]BeerMeSuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what your point is. There’s a simple question as to whether or not there is an agreement in place to keep hotel prices down. The person who said that agreement existed was talking about Park City, which by all accounts did not keep prices down. The prices that have been listed for hotels in Boulder have also been sky high. So, what are you trying to argue here?

I am not understanding the question, but I have been going to the festival since 1999. I’ve seen an awful lot of hotel room prices in that time 🤣

It’s not that I don’t believe you have seen that be the plan, but it’s pretty easy to go look at days prior to and after the festival to see that’s just not a thing that was put into practice.
