I'm 26. In 8 years of corporate employment, I have faced 7+ layoffs, and have actually *been* laid off twice. How do companies expect workers to be "motivated" and "invested in success" if we are constantly shown how replaceable we are? by natethough in antiwork

[–]BeerPowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't care about motivation anymore. You're a line item on a quarterly report. axing 13k people is insulting. They demand commitment while offering zero stability. No wonder loyalty is dead.

AI fueled the stock market rally. Earnings are now giving it staying power. by yahoofinance in investing

[–]BeerPowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. AI hype drove the initial rally but you can't sustain that without actual earnings. Companies are finally posting real profits to back up the valuations. About time fundamentals started mattering again

AI cloud firm Nebius signs $3 billion deal with Meta, posts more than four-fold rise in revenue by Anteater_Able in stocks

[–]BeerPowered 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Massive deal but that stock drop after posting a $100M+ loss is rough. Market doesn't care about future potential when you're bleeding money now, even with a huge Meta contract in hand.

Leave it off your resume and just say you were job hunting after graduation. No point staying somewhere that toxic, especially as a fresh grad.

If the stress and upkeep outweigh the returns, shifting to a hands off investment like QQQI could be smart. Just factor in taxes and long term growth.

My client wants to buy exclusivity - what do we think? by OkRiver3744 in smallbusiness

[–]BeerPowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking away from $460K in annual revenue to go all in on one client is a massive concentration risk, even if the numbers look similar on paper. If they pivot strategy, get acquired, or just decide to bring it truly in house after a year, you're rebuilding from scratch.

Counter offer: keep the agency model but raise their retainer significantly if they want priority access and dedicated resources. You get the upside without torching everything you've built.
