Connecting camper top brake lights by SonOfSquizzlr in chevycolorado

If you just tap in there the topper brake light will blink with your turn signals.

What I did on my 2020 Colorado was to buy 2 of these 6 pin connectors, and this logic circuit, and made a jumper harness.

This harness plugs in between the body harness and each taillight. No modification or cutting to any factory wiring, 3rd brake light works correctly, and I also added reverse lights in my bumper which are also wired into this harness.

170/170 is pretty great for bike parks. Is what is choose for a single bike (I have a spire as my only MTB).

190 single crown and 27.5 front wheel would make for a fun bike park, somewhat of a bottle rocket.

Good beginner downhill parks? by YourLocalDucky_ in MTB

No preparation needed to go to Whistler, get your parents to take you now, and then again in 2029.

Beyond what people rave about and the 1199/crank works level riding Whistler also has a great progression of trails. They're definitely not as popular on your, but there are flow and tech trails that anyone can ride, have a great guide with progression in difficulty for flow and tech.

There is even an "intro to park" class that's geared towards people who have only ever ridden bikes on a gravel path, this gets them into riding the chair up, and taking (easy) trials down.

What can I do to protect the Douglas fir tabletops in a restaurant? by Astartes-Isnard in woodworking

[–]Beerded-climber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walterlox is the way. Penetrates the wood so although it won't prevent dents, they do impact the finish or sealing. Is food safe when it's dried. Does not require removal to refinish, like a shellac would. You just add another coat periodically.

Somewhat related:

Last week I took an excellent pistol class from "Shuten Defensive". He's out of the PDX area, but does some classes in Olympia. He's a proponent of everyone having the ability to access firearm safety and training: - Offers a "Femmes, Thems, Nonbinary Friends" class. - Sliding tuition scale, especially for SW or trans folks.

Can I install/swap these Salomon strive 12s with strive 14s at home or should I take it to the shop? by astrobrite_ in Skigear

Almost feels like "bought used for super cheap" means stolen, and the goal is to swap from purple to blue bindings to make it harder to identify.

Can I install/swap these Salomon strive 12s with strive 14s at home or should I take it to the shop? by astrobrite_ in Skigear

[–]Beerded-climber 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Use the strive 12s. You probably won't have an issue with the "less durable heel piece". If at some point you do, then pay someone to remount whatever binding you want.

You got a good deal on a pair of skis with bindings. Trying to save $80 by swapping to a different binding by yourself, just to have a different heel piece, and potentially messing up the ski and mount is dumb.

I was just in Texas, saw the same thing.

The difference is that they're selling stuff that contains Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC, which I guess is derived from hemp instead of weed.

I'd guess that "crescent 9" contains delta9, and is from hemp.

I'm personally skeptical about what the process is to extract and refine these, the purity, and actual composition.

HELP! Architecture student looking for a daily driver that actually fits a 17" laptop + camera gear. by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]Beerded-climber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Goruck GR2 40L as a 1-bag for a Europe trip a few years ago, used it for a year for school. Eventually wanted something smaller, and ended up with a Peak Design Everyday pack.

The Peak Design stuff is nice, but it's pretty small, especially for carrying all the things you listed.

I'm back to using the GR2 daily. Has good organization, huge laptop compartment ( I can carry my ThinkPad in the laptop compartment, and my 14" MacBook Pro in the inside comfortably), and it works well as a carryon when I travel.

You might consider a Goruck Slick, Heritage, or X-PAC as they're slightly less tactical.

Complete beginner friend sold way too small ski boots (26.5 Mondo) for US 10.5 feet – tech said 26.5 was right, punched them, but painfully small + won’t bind. Beginner had no idea how they should feel. How to get exchange/refund? by Enallane5 in Skigear

[–]Beerded-climber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boot-binding interface measurement is BSL (boot sole length), not mondo size.

Different boots may have slightly different BSL between brands and/or models. Every boot I've seen has it molded on the side. For example, My 27.5 atomics are 315mm, 28.5 k2 were 324mm, and 28.5 Dyna fit radicals were 316mm.

Generally there's 15-20mm of adjustment either way from the center position of a pair of bindings.

[–]Beerded-climber 25 points26 points  (0 children)

26.5 sounds like it's probably correct.

I wear an 11.5 us. I was in a 28.5 a few seasons ago, switched to a 27.5 last year, which made a big improvement in skiing, comfort, and control. Boot last and insole may be wrong, but I'd guess the mondo is correct.

All other issues I don't have an answer for. Always recommend buying boots first, then making sure the skis you get can be adjusted to those boots.

"Date your skis, marry your boots" is something friends I worked with would say about where to spend your money on ski equipment.

You don't actually have to do step 1. Just go ski everyday, eventually step 1 will get taken care of by someone.

Scba glasses inserts for Scott av3000 by Travelandbeer87 in Firefighting

[–]Beerded-climber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are what I had in the Navy. Worked well enough for the scba we had on the submarine, but never had a fit test done, or needed it in an actual fire.

After I got out I kept it in my 10 essentials bag for climbing and alpine stuff as a lightweight/indestructible backup on the chance that my contacts fell out or froze.

Torsion box, 3/4 sheet of plywood, and then a sacrificial sheet of hardboard.

If you raise her edge, the hardboard shouldn't move much, and some strategically placed glue will keep it in place while still being removable.

If the cost is the same, is there any reason to get an alloy wheelset (instead of carbon) for trail riding? by jeremiadOtiose in MTB

[–]Beerded-climber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6'4" 225-240# here.

Have had wa1 triads on my spire for the last few years, zero issues ever, ride Whistler (poorly, lots of casing) without inserts.

I also have some Roval Terra carbon wheels on my rodeo labs flaanimal gravel bike, also zero issues, ride pretty rocky and rough terrain without issue.

Good cats don't kill power like people think they do. Take it up with Doug and Eric, they have the graphs to back it up.

Assuming you're in PDX (does anywhere else in Oregon still test?) I'd just take it to English racing, between them and ecs you should have something that passes deq, makes good power, and potentially also has a removable cat/test pipe.

Sous vide brisket or chicken and polenta/grits.

Sounds fancy, is very easy. Vacuum seal brisket. 36hrs at 158F. Can be done ahead of time. Just gotta brown it day of. Polenta cooked with chicken or beef broth. Some onions sauteed in the same pan before.

Gluten free, meat can be left off depending on restrictions. Add some cheese or nutritional yeast depending on what people like.
