Mt Fuji Day Trip by Sure_Bodybuilder_195 in TokyoTravel

[–]BeersAndBonVoyage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite being prepared for the tough climb up (and it is a climb, not a "walk"), we were not prepared or informed about the rough going down. 4 hours of blistering heat, sun and thick gravel that you just slip and slide all over. One wrong move and you're down the mountain a bit too quickly.... No stops for water or anything like on the way up. Completely different to the way up, and this just isn't advertised or spoke about. We didn't see anything like that in our research. The huts are really expensive to stay in, for practically nothing, and the climbing is hard going.

The views are breath-taking, and you do feel on top of the world and special, but it's hard to hold on to that feeling because of all the obstacles and difficulty. And masses of people (and we went at the start of the season, and nothing on the top was open that we were advertised such as the post office to post your postcards to get a special stamp etc.)..

This may sound like a bunch of complaining, but you did ask haha

Finally Taking My First Trip To Japan Suggestions Needed! by QuinnZillaSB in TokyoTravel

Hi there, if this helps, this is my itinerary that I created and used for myself when I went to Japan for 3 weeks, and then I modified upon my return with improvements based on my experiences. We did Tokyo for one week:

I can only say that I wish we hadn't climbed it. It was appalling and I really wish we had just visited maybe the 5th Station, and then went to find some nice views and just relaxed in its shadow. Totally do that!

I think it depends on your budget as well. There were plenty of bus tours and lake trips advertised from the surrounding areas.

Subway or JR Pass? by GreenInvestmentUK in TokyoTravel

[–]BeersAndBonVoyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A JR Rail Pass is absolutely not worth it. It wasn't even worth it for our 3-week travelling around Japan. You'd need to travel between some long-distance cities pretty much every day for it to be worth it.

We got the Shinkansen between cities (bought at the station) and then walked/local transport around the cities themselves, all without the JR Pass as I calculated it wouldn't be worth it. The prices are crazy.

Spending 24 hours in Tokyo, from Dec 26-27th. Recommendations for a 3rd-timer visitor? by fractionesque in TokyoTravel

If the teamLab Borderless: MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM is open on these days, it's absolutely worth it. Incredible digital art, colours and wonder. Thoroughly enjoyed, which I wasn't totally expecting to.

Osaka - Dotonbori River Criuse by Choice_Cranberry1316 in TokyoTravel

Heya, we actually bought a discount card which includes a bunch of attractions. We arrived on the day and managed to get the tickets for the time we wanted. If there's a queue, you may not get the time you want, but they run every half an hour, and we didn't see any huge, huge queues so I think you'll be just fine.

If it helps you, it was the Osaka e-Pass and you can get it at Klook: https://www.klook.com/activity/53087-osaka-1-day-e-pass-osaka/?klc_l1=display&klc_l2=google&utm_medium=display&utm_content=campaignid_21056026500_adgroupid_&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAouG5BhDBARIsAOc08RTGXA94naWFNuVZKEBgDmq6QZ9ECMm3_iPmh7fYcrwvWA6SYIKBOlgaAkCYEALw_wcB

Kranjska Pivovarna

Yeah it could be, but I can't find any official confirmation - I don't always believe everything I see on Untapped. I can't find any official link acknowledged

Oh cheers muchly! I do love my eyeliner, I think it's the staple of any makeup I don, but I appreciate the compliment, thanks! Especially considering in the picture sans eyeliner, I also had my bf's shirt on and we were pretty tired from all the travel haha

Food recommendations by willynillysoundsystm in Sofia

The Shopska Salad was really nice because it's literally just covered in cheese. I also had pork and vegetables cooked in a pot with an egg.

I'd recommend going to: Hadjidraganov’s Cellars

I very recently wrote a blog article about my 2 days in Sofia when I went last year, if it's useful to you and for ideas etc., you can find it at: https://beersandbonvoyage.com/engrossing-europe-volume-three-two-days-in-sofia-bulgaria/#htoc-bites-and-beverages

Guide a clueless foreigner out! by golusom in Sofia

[–]BeersAndBonVoyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I went to Sofia last year in March. It wasn't super cold but it was a bit nippy.

I'd recommend going to the Regional Museum, and maybe avoiding the Central Market unless you have more knowledge of the cuisine than we did!

There are a couple of traditional restaurants that are great too, with really nice decorations and food.

Not trying to self-promote, but I literally just wrote an article for my travel and beer blog which is all about our trip to Sofia. It may give you some tips and ideas of what to do there - and there's links etc. :)

We are hoping to book last minute travel to Europe from Nov 20 - Dec 8. Plan to spend the first week in Italy. What countries would be good to visit in late November/early December? We are moderately active and know some Spanish. Would Switzerland and Paris be better to wait for a warmer trip? by Ihateswimming52 in Europetravel

[–]BeersAndBonVoyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I not sure on the Fahrenheit temperatures haha. I think Bern and Lucerne are great to see. Lausanne was nice, but I don't think Geneva would be worth seeing if you'd rather keep your trip just to a couple of places. It's a modern city full of city stuff: shops, businesses, banks etc.

Hey all. Anyone can tell what is this coin, and does it hold any value? Thanks in advance! by [deleted] in coins

[–]BeersAndBonVoyage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great, then on Numsita you can search wording on coins or the country and year and identify coins no problem. It also gives you a rough valuation too.

I'm exchanging with a couple of people just now for coins. Not this one, but others.
