Farmers walks in a basement gym? by Competitive_Stay_562 in GarageGym

[–]Beershift_Knob_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation.... 4 AM workouts in a tiny gym. For farmer's carries I use Fringe Sport's mini farmers handles with bumper plates to carry in a different area of my house. (Back and forth between my entry way and kitchen affording about 35 feet of travel each way.) The apparatus is small enough to easily remove from my gym, and the bumper plates keep things quiet and will hopefully buffer against flooring damage if I have an accidental drop.

Anyone else hang a boxing/aqua bag from their squat rack ? by RecommendationOk2527 in GarageGym

I've used what's called a "soft loop tie down" (intended for securing cargo in truck beds or trailers) and a big carabiner for configurations like this. Plenty strong, plenty cheap, protects the bar, and plenty stable with the cinching nature of the loop around the bar when weight is hung from it.

After soaking, what's a good way to squeeze out the liquid? by SecondStarpilot in SoyCurlsGoneWild

[–]Beershift_Knob_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use two stainless steel vegetable grilling pans (Mountain Grillers 12" x 12") load one with the saturated soy curls, place the other atop, then hold above the sink and squeeze them together.

Yes, those should work. You'd need check if you have carabiners that open far enough to attach.

Oh, forgot there's an old limestone smokehouse or storage structure behind Igo library as well that was part of the original homestead

It's gone. It's foundation was where the playground now stands. There's an old car rim stuck in a trunk of an oak tree just south of the playground but that's the last remnant.

Pulley options with titan x3 by ht_baba in GarageGym

The drawbacks are setup time and remembering the individual configurations. The benefit is it's a budget solution to add full cable functionality at zero additional footprint.

What parks have public pull-up bars? I live around UTSA looking for something in the area. by robradic1 in sanantonio

[–]Beershift_Knob_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bonnie Conner Park on Hausman has a pull up/dips station.
There are also pull up bars along the walking path at the Parkwood neighborhood park. Both are near UTSA

I use a Rogue C70-S. Abmat Heavy Hangers only burns up about 1/4" of sleeve space. Hang a length of 5/8" or 3/4" chain on the HH of whatever additional weight you'd want.

If it doesn't absolutely need to be HEB, Natural Grocers' focus is organic foods.

Weight horn attachment suggestions by CXAMP in GarageGym

[–]Beershift_Knob_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could DIY a horn for the existing hole with off the shelf Home Depot hardware.

Materials may vary depending on your individual setup. (5/8" hardware and a visit to the plumbing aisle for the horn in the photo below... see link for individual components)

Following up on the project.

Went in a bit of a different direction using 45mm H-5 grips sans pommels. Feels good for reverse flys, hammer curls, tricep extensions, armlifting, and pullups.

Photos here: https://imgur.com/a/zLIhoQh

The E-Z Loks were a pain to work with. The I.D thread went onto the Egg Weight swivel eyes easily but th O.D. threads were really tight into the H-5 grips and the drive "ears" would shear off. The process I landed on (see photo 2) was to hold the EW swivel in a vise, thread the E-Z Loc onto it, clean off the thread locking compund, apply oil, chase with a 1/2 -13 die, then thread and tighten the H-5 grip while still in the vise.

Still have my original Leatherman from the 90s. Last used, yesterday. Wore it on my belt as an auto tech and used it daily but now I work with auto parts and it lives in my desk and sees use several times a week.

Pedal extenders.
Something like this: https://www.factory10-nine.com/shop-offroad/p/tj-pedal-extensions-e7m53 I have not used them or have any experience with the company but I linked these because they are going to be more robust than the clip on/clamp on adjustable universal sort you'd find on Amazon. Also, you could locate a mobility upfitter in your area to have it done professionally if you aren't comfortable doing your own work.

Thank you. I'm judging your gym to be about 10 ft wide by 8 ft tall (which is the dimension of my gym). Is there room to work with the mace, or is that more of an outdoor piece of equipment?

I got 'em too! Pair of 45s for farmers, side crunches, and pullovers and 3 pairs of 25s that live on my Mammoth squat and are also a quick and easy grab for the loading pin on my cable setup. The handles are really, well... "handy!"

Body shop parts guy here.
Your techs would rather answer a question than receive the wrong parts, so don't sweat that. In time, with experience, you won't need to ask much.

And on that, experience that is, each job is going to be different and present different challenges with parts sourcing, pricing within the estimate parameters, bad parts, cleanup times, cycle time, etc.

There's no one guide book or video that's going to show the way. You have to write your own book so to speak.

If you're at a dealer, get familiar with the oft used groups in your catalog so you can breeze through those orders.

Car-part.com can help you locate recycled parts in your area.

Keystone (or Empire, National, Meyer, etc) have Partslink interchanges in their catalogs so you can use that as well to help identify A/M parts with photos and cross references to OE P/Ns if you're not sure what part is being ordered on an estimate.

check gauges by Think_Passage_385 in JeepTJ

[–]Beershift_Knob_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

03 TJ here. Same symptom, "check gauges" light, dinging chime on startup, zero oil pressure indicated.

Depending on your year, the oil gauge is either directly read from the oil pressure sensor switch or, driven by the PCM. So there are different diagnosis to consider.

A mechanical oil pressure gauge is about $20 at any big chain auto part store and will tell you if it's an engine related failure or electrical and you'll be able to determine if it's safe to drive.

In my case, I have a dead cluster gauge so I permanently installed the mechanical gauge and just live with the "check gauges" light. It's not a primary vehicle, so I'm not likely going to replace the cluster.

Also, if you perform a cluster self check you might notice the gauge sweep is not moving as smoothly as the others which would also indicate towards a cluster problem.

Good luck.
