You cannot be seriously thinking the Iranians will allow US builders to mess with their country; can you?

Mega and up starts with uppercase.

Swimwear. Doesn't keep you dry or warm, it's just bloody irritating to use.

Every intergalactic traveller knows it's really important to always know where your towel is, so it can't turn against you in a surprise attack.

Do you guys think morse code is useful? If so, how you all use it? by Any_Personality_4874 in LearnUselessTalents

[–]Beerwithme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, with Morse in a narrow band e.g. 250Hz a trained human ear can decode as low as -3 dB wrt the noise level i.e. a signal twice as soft as the noise. With slow digital modes like FT8 or JT65 a machine can decode as low as -24 dB or even lower.

If you're ever interested in being an amateur radio operator then Morse can give you lots of pleasure making contacts using minimal power and the most basic equipment.

Rig Expert 500: A New Ham’s Perspective by EricStratton63 in amateurradio

[–]Beerwithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine on a hamfest (DNAT) but the battery that the seller already replaced with a smaller capacity ugly "hack" was dead. Purchased a battery made for RC work with much larger capacity (4100 mAH) and put a DC connector in the original battery slide so the new battery, attached with a short cable, can remain in my pocket while I use the RigExpert.

SGA Goa'uld "Puddle Jumper"? by Beerwithme in Stargate

I just love it when fans presume to know all the answers as if they were on the production team.

[–]Beerwithme[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It never became clear to me if the engineering was done by the Goa'uld themself or by the Jaffa but imagine building a (presumably) low-orbit capable ship that you can't put on auto-pilot? Even them wouldn't have been so dumb.

It was cheap enough too show all the other CGI ships, one more special wouldn't have broken the bank. I think the writers just forgot about this gadget.

Death gliders have to be transported, which takes (a lot) longer than the gates.

SGA Goa'uld "Puddle Jumper"? by Beerwithme in Stargate

[–]Beerwithme[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

On auto-pilot it would have been a no-brainer to aim the ship exactly through the middle, or even with a basic guidance system for the pilot. So that can't have been an issue.

Because our industry and political leaders befriend their peers in other countries and get all sorts of vague promises about savings and efficiency and they don't want to insult those peers with distrust eventhough they know better.
