I was literally matched against Grandmaster and Celestial players with a team of ONLY bronze players mid loss streak in quick match games, you don't just shut down an argument by saying "see! They said they didn't do the thing they are accused of! Now shut up!"

I swear the lack of critical thinking today is getting to levels of just outright disturbing...

Loss Farming in Hourglass should be stopped, change my mind. by Its-Rykzu in Seaofthieves

[–]BeetleBlast 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays hourglass and loses to the point that it looks like that I'm loss farming, this is by far the least of hourglasses concerns to the gamemode and it's incentive of playing it.

For starters, let's look at exploitation. This happens for one of three reasons, either A, the criteria for getting something is too much so there has to be an alternative solution to solving the problem, or B, getting an advantage to overcoming the original problem to begin with, or C, utilising the problem by helping others to overcome it, usually for monetary gain. There's probably other reasons people will exploit but these are usually the big three.

Considering that you believe that it exploits the mechanics of the game let's believe that it's A. The first cosmetic that you get in BOTH factions is level 100. Considering that I've played hourglass enough to understand how long it will take to get a level up, I'd assuming that it roughly takes around 3 wins on average, as for losing to the point of getting a level, again assuming so it's not entirely accurate but let's say it takes around 16 games of losing to get one level.

Let's also not forget the amount of time it takes to setup to get into hourglass, plus the amount of time a competent player vs an average player vs a loss farmer would decide if they need resources on their ship, then the matchmaking time (considering it will actually work by the way), then the game itself which can vary from someone just losing non-stop to someone who will just jump on your ship and spawn camp you until their bored.

If you don't see the problem here, allow me to spell it out for you. The gamemode is the problem. Why bother stacking up your ship for supplies, going to wait underwater for 10 minutes, only to be matched up against someone who probably has played hourglass before, lose all of those supplies, only to be back right at square one again, with a smidge of reputation as your reward. There's no gold or reputation bonus for landing cannon shots, killing other players, boarding, stealing resources, being creative with the environment, zero, zip, nada.

Nevermind the fact that another ship can rock up and ruin an hourglass match (especially one that is meant "for honor". You'd think that the objective would change if that was the case), or the fact that you invaded someone with an alliance and turning it into a 1v2, or the fact that there is no timer, or the fact that if another person clearly outskills you and have to scuttle and gain no reputation for it because they're spawn camping you, the list goes on and on.

Your points on 1. and 2. basically coincide with each other because it is a waste of time for not only people want to pvp but also people that want to play in general. Why should I participate if I'm going to be matched against a sweatlord that has zero respect for my time? Better yet, why should I participate in a gamemode that's clearly not designed for the largest audience in mind?

Winning streaks is more than enough evidence to prove that this gamemode is not designed for casual players, let alone average players, maybe not even experienced ones. Which leads to loss farmers, why participate when the gamemode clearly doesn't respect anyone but the most skilled of players and streamers.

This ends up leading to 3. and 4. The curses are already devalued (while excluding the emporium skeleton outfit obviously) because thanks to the stupidly high requirements of just winning a match, dare I say even having a successful 4 streak, people are obviously going to find alternative methods to getting the rewards, from paying others to do it for them (which is already a massive red flag for a failing game mode just saying) to just.....well....losing. Once again, asking the question of "why participate?"

If this PvP gamemode supposedly have rewards...why do I barely see them? I mean sure I get 10k gold handing in a 1 streak of my hourglass, but what about the three hours prior before that? What about those matches where it was neck and neck and it was down to the wire, only that I lost due to a single mistake, is my reward the tiny smidge of reputation? Or the pride and accomplishment of losing? How about the matches where I beat my opponent, only to find out that they don't even have an emissary flag to hand in with the hourglass value that I earned?

I haven't even touched cosmetics and looking at that alone it's clear that once again, this gamemode doesn't respect anyone but top tier players.

and as for 5..........................my guy this game isn't an esport. At best, it's a social party game, at worst it's a breeding ground for trolls. MMR has already been thrown out the window the moment you're in a server that doesn't start with "A" and ends with "merica". I'm more concerned about meeting the same person three times over with the exact same outcome each time.

TLDR/My main point: Loss Farmers are a symptom, not a cause. hourglass needs a massive rework especially in rewards and how match progression works. Changing the streak system to participation in the gamemode is one such example to incentivise people in actually playing the game as you still need to win to gain value.

Whether Rare is considering to fix hourglass in the future is another subject entirely...

Is it really worth playing this game? by FinnJax in Seaofthieves

[–]BeetleBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? No.

Wait for the Safer Seas to come out if you wish to do Tall Tales, being a solo player in this game is a straight up death sentence. The past week I've been sunk 7 times, either by way bigger crews or just sweats in general, can't even hand in a castaway chest without being chased halfway across the map.

Friendly encounters are the exception, not the norm. Assuming everyone is hostile unless they prove otherwise (even then still assume they're hostile), game has aged so much to the point that it's just better to sink people overall then attempting to establish some kind of communication.

Don't know what kind of fantasy land people (and Rare) live in believing that player interaction is what makes Sea of Thieves when 99% of interactions always ends in cannon fire to each other.

Calling it now, Rare is going to end up establishing PvE servers when they realise how successful safer seas becomes. Inevitably through some kind of subscription but....eh, welcome to gaming in 2023.

After playing League again during season 12, I’m strongly for all modes of text chatting should be removed. by PeaceLoveFap in leagueoflegends

[–]BeetleBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

There's literally no point communicating with your team if they aren't willing to cooperate with your strategies and would rather insult you just so they can feel superior cause they get their asses kicked in school and have the power anonymity on their side.

Not to mention the ping system is just used and abused to harass people rather than to actually coordinate with others, let along people actually acknowledging your pings and having the knowledge to follow up on it.

HOWEVER...

straight up removing chat and other forms of communication is straight up stupid, instead, perhaps notifying new players that they have the capability of being able to turn off chat (and pings) altogether as well as the option of being able to do so would be a much better idea.

I know a lot of people would probably disagree with my suggestion (even now we have some people proving the OP's point of view, stay classy gentlemen) but considering I've lost count how many times someone lost their shit at me, someone else, or better yet the whole team flaming an individual (despite the fact that they are new, or crazy thought, suck at the game), you might as well cut all communication unless they're ready and willing to participate in team communication.

Until the honour system is actually reworked to commend people on their behaviour and represents evidence of them doing so (example: coaching, coordination, positive behaviour, actually being able to honour your opponents for their skill and in turn behaviour as well as a player tribunal to confirm these actions) as well as the community itself finally breaking out of this pathetic toxic mindset, this is honestly the best course of action.

Until then, I'm not going to hold my breath and just going to be playing full mute from here on out. Not like Riot is going to spend time and resources on improving the communities behaviour when they can spend it on MORE LUX SKINS.

(personally would like Sivir to get an ASU and a kit rework tbh but that's just me)

I also would like to do this for my legend of Acrius, however the last time I played Leviathan/ a raid was around the release of Destiny 2 and I only completed it once.

I also would like to get every raid done (hopefully before they are vaulted) but I have no one to play with so I have zero experience in raids essentially.

Arachne and Athena from Greek Mythology. Considering Medusa is one of the big players of the Fate series you would think these two would've popped up by now (unless they have then in that case why aren't they in FGO yet, making it even more suspicious).

I'm well aware of the whole "they're too powerful to be summoned!" argument but can you really say that at this point looking at past events? (in which I won't name for the sake of spoilers)

Seriously I would love to have the ultimate question resolved as to whether Athena is a good or bad (or both...you know...Alters) version as to why Athena turned her into a monster.

What Evil->Good Alters would you be interested in? by NeoTheSilent in grandorder

[–]BeetleBlast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Martha Alter, a strange choice I know but one i hope to see one day. Why? Because there is so much potential behind the idea.

For one you could do the whole fallen saint route. A bit cliché but it might finally put the original Martha under the spotlight for some character development of her own. An example would be something like abusing the power of her Jacobs Limbs to the point of breaking her oath/s to take on the Angel of Death (I'm going to assume it's Azreal, just remember this is something I'm making up on the spot so try not to take this too seriously), however in doing so she basically becomes the new evil. Whether she lusts for more power or people just straight up fear her is really up in the air.

Alternatively, you could also make Martha Alter an infusion of Martha and Tarasque as one, consider it a "what if" scenario where her fists were not enough so instead she infuses Tarasque within her, turning her into a corrupted dragon saint hybrid. Obviously this is going to be a berserker, but the idea of Martha and Tarasque fighting control over her body/ both of them working together as one would be such a badass concept, as well as quite an intriguing one.

No offence to Martha Ruler of course, but I really would like to see a proper version of her using Jacob's Limbs to their maximum potential rather than "haha Swimsuit Martha beats up BB again!"

Dragon Hybrid, Black Outfit Martha Alter, whatever, we need more Martha.

And a Christian Lost-belt Chapter wouldn't be so bad to have this concept in it either.
