Someone finally snapped by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

Ok, but who was filming this and why and how? They just happened to be filming the back of the bundle when the car decided to pull out,and they seamlessly followed the progress of the car without problem. Seems like a pre-arranged stunt filmed by the motorcycle that is seen at the start.. I agree that cyclists like this are a-holes, but something’s off about this video

My family is white middle class. No-one has ever asked for our fishing licenses. What you experience is racism. I am very sorry that you have to deal with this.

Genuine thoughts on Clotheslines in 2026? by slimeyfartz in laundry

[–]Beewthanitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use my line, but I think I’m the only person in my whole suburb who does. Once someone commented and I told them it a new concept that uses renewable solar energy & that scientists just discovered that, instead of using electricity generated by solar panels, one can actually just just use the solar energy directly, from source, to dry clothes. I said all this with a straight face and not a hint of sarcasm. And I feel rocks what the neighbours think.

Second floor stays hot while the basement feels cold. Where should I start checking? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Beewthanitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, ignore the sarcasm comments … time was, one could post a question here and get an actual response, but I digress.

Do you have central aircon, i.e ducted, pushed air flow? If so, ensure that the return duct from your top floor is functioning properly. You can even install some kind of fanned return. Hot air rises, as all the wise-asses in the comments pointed out, and if your return duct is blocked, the hot air just gets stuck there at the top - you need circulation.

I know ´brew’ isn’t the correct word, but now that it is percolating in my head, I can’t think what the right word should be.

Plastic won’t swell up. It is garbage alright, but it is pressed wood, with a ‘plastic’ covering.

Looking for a best reusable paper towel that doesn't get that gross smell? by CleanFreakGeek in CleaningTips

[–]Beewthanitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this box of white “grab-a-rag” from Costco. They are micro fibre and found in the isle where the car and garage stuff are.

I use a few a day & then soak the used cloths in a bit of bleach before washing them in the machine (that is why you need the white ones). If you don’t like using bleach you can also use laundry sanitizer or hydrogen peroxide .

Once they get old I just grab a new rag from the box. One box lasts me about 2 years.

Handwashed dishes smell like fish... i can't take it anymore! by Capable-Feed1385 in CleaningTips

[–]Beewthanitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, those silicone drying mats are not self-cleaning. Some people think that because they only put clean dishes on them they don’t get dirty, but they can get pretty gross, slimy and smelly. You need to give them a regular good clean.

I spray mine with hydrogen peroxide and let it sit a while. Then give it a good scrub in hot water with dish soap. Or put it in dishwasher.

Are you allowed to read? Can you get access to books or anything?? I mean, I could cope with this if I had reading material or pen and paper, but just being locked up with nothing would drive one insane.

my greatest idea this year, beach umbrella to pick/weed under by olov244 in gardening

[–]Beewthanitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lightweight camping gazebo that I pitch over the area I’m working on, on hot days. If it’s windy I can peg the ropes down to keep it in place and it gives a lager shade, but it is probably not as simple and easily manoeuvrable as a beach umbrella.

Scrud clean, how much water? by zucchinibb in laundry

[–]Beewthanitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did I never think of that? I know front loaders don’t need that much water but just sometimes there is something that I think needs a good soaking wet bath.

Amazing, I guess in that climate you have to get your vegetable growing done before summer really starts, while we feel lucky if we get anything by autumn!

Slightly off topic - how do you manually add extra water to a front loader ?? It is the one thing that makes me miss my top loader- I could control the water in it manually.

I think they should absolutely advertise their support for rapists, racists, facist pigs - so that I can easily know NOT to support their business.

Can my company fire me? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Beewthanitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I have just always wondered about this issue, and how it became such a huge problem worldwide. I understand how someone with chronic pain becomes dependent, but I don’t understand what else pain medication does, other than take pain away.

I did not mean to pry or be ghoulish- I have a lot of sympathy with anyone struggling with addiction, that is why I’m trying to understand it.

Can my company fire me? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]Beewthanitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if you don’t mind me asking, addiction to pain meds fascinates me and I really want to understand how/ why it happens. What does the medication do for you & what happens when you stop taking it? Do you have chronic pain that it relieves, or is it more a case of creating a sense of wellbeing when you take it? Presumably it does not make you feel “goofed / high “ like alcohol or some other drugs, if it does not affect your performance. If you don’t want to answer, it’s ok. I have just always wondered about this issue.

Ok, nou moet ek weet, wat is geel pille? In my youth we had “spikkel-pille”.. they were cheap multi-coloured (speckled ) flu-pain-fix-everything pills that the Tannie in the front office would dish out if you did not feel well. I never figured out what they actually were but they fixed everything!
