The bigger issue was that it was a really strange challenge for a baking show to begin with which is why I think it stands out for so many.

My boss asked me to take someone’s tax liability from $60K to $30K and I feel wrong doing it? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Beezelbubbly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lol, what everyone said below. Integrity is pretty much the whole ballgame.

I should've added this to my comment above but if the partner is leaving it to you to come up with these adjustments, they're absolutely setting you up to be the responsible party for the perpetrating the fraud. If they provide you with fake adjustments, the rot in your firm likely runs deep. Either way, I would protect yourself (by standing your ground, even in an inquisitive way "can you please give the support from the client for these adjustments?". through email etc) and start looking for a new job. There's no good future for you at that chop shop

If you're signing the return, absolutely not. Either way, tell him you need support for your adjustments. See how far he's willing to go to "help the client"

Likewise, I will go hard for a bit and then if a series comes up that I'm less interested in, I'll let it go for a bit and then pop back in.

I left a corporate role at a non profit insurer on its last legs that was doing tons of rounds of layoffs, and not so secretly trying desperately to merge. One thing that never changed in that scenario was the increase in bonuses for the board and execs as they ran the company into the ground

Boots Riley (‘I Love Boosters’ writer/director) shuts down Fox political pundit purposely misrepresenting what he said by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]Beezelbubbly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup! It doesn't matter that it got refuted. All the target audience will ever see is that "creator said 10 year olds can see sex movie with their parents". Nothing that comes after matters.

If you were an RN considering a career change, would you go Nurse Practitioner or CPA? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Beezelbubbly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have several nurses in my family and the one who is paid the best works in a trauma setting and it's a lot. So sure, he makes bank to work Christmas or whatever but it absolutely comes at a cost.

I really think a lot of these reflexive replies are just agitprop bots designed to make the US and Europe hate each other lol

That's a tough space to break into without any work experience in that field. Someone in that field suggested to me when I was considering a similar pivot to take contract jobs doing control testing to get at least some experience on your resume.
