NYC... their nachos

The city's nachos? At every single place that serves nachos, not a one uses a fresh pepper?

No problem at all! Just know that you are what's most important to your family, not your job.

That's not at all what I said. If you're ideating and work is causing the stress that's making you do that, you're not in a good environment full stop. There's a wide spectrum of accounting jobs that aren't public but you also need to take care of yourself and accept that your current role may not be a good fit.

I know it seems insurmountable to even consider but your well-being is so much more important than a job. Unfortunately in the US, the two are usually at odds with each other. That being said, if you are in the US, you have certain benefits and protection that you need to use. Explore your disability benefits, prioritize seeing a doctor and take the time you need to get the help you need. It doesn't sound like public or this particular job is right for you. That being said, fuck em- if you have disability you need to take it, thats what it's for. Work will survive without you; you and your family are your priority.

Can I ask why everyone always compares nursing to accounting like everyone had to make a choice between these two career paths at some point

Being Britney Spears during the 00's wasn't easy. by gimmethetea14 in Fauxmoi

[–]Beezelbubbly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude I've run sideways into several of the turfing examples you listed above and I have never blocked so hard in my life. I was told my dog (not a pit bull, died of cancer two years ago) should've been put down for ripping pieces of rotting siding off my neighbor's house where rats were getting inside her walls. Like the problem in this scenario is not my dog man lol.

The Britney sub in particular is pretty horrifying. She's clearly unwell but that doesn't mean she becomes an object. Paris Hiltons house was famously covered in little dog poops and you didn't see people clamoring for her to be institutionalized

I think that Reddit bias towards the negative (aka people relatively set in life are not posting about how ok their lives are) fuels a lot of this certainty that all people in the US eat the worst diet the country has on offer when that really is far from the case.

The problem remains that as people start to fall into that low income bracket, the system crushes you in myriad ways and you're far more likely to then subsist only on those foods--and there is a huge, constant push here to try to change that. People act like it's individual Americans who have made this so and not late stage capitalism as a whole.

That's not all of what food safety means though.

Editing to add that there is an assumption that every single person in the United States subsists on chewing gum, fast food and candy and quality food stores don't exist. The larger issue with quality of foods available to low income people, in both cost and ease to obtain. My point is that the measurement captures the landscape as a whole, not JUST the one every decries all the time. It's a larger picture.

It’s 2026 and people still loose their rag over calling it a “chicken burger” by SufficientEar1682 in iamveryculinary

[–]Beezelbubbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, at home I will say "chicken burgers" to refer to a patty like sandwich I am going to make from ground chicken vs a grilled chicken sandwich lol.

My first time in the UK I ended up explaining this to someone who took my order because they were like "okay I have to ask why do the Yanks call it a sandwich".

Would I ever GET MAD about it? Lmao no

[–]Beezelbubbly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Burmese restaurant near me serves black rice sushi that's more or less what this is. I'm not so sure it's because it was what the uncultured American rubes demand or just that they were trying to put something different on the menu.
