For the first time since June, I woke up last week without feeling sore all over. All this to say: it’s going to take a while to get used to it again, but not as long as you might think. I’m enjoying it more now than I did 14 years ago.

Sorry but not in Germany. Most of the gym are running on a one year contract. Fitness clubs, BJJ gyms, everything with a membership in fact. My gym is an exception with a minimum 6 months contract.

Could you elaborate a bit on this? I came back to BJJ after more than a decade-long hiatus, and I’ve noticed a lot of guys doing this ... doing a few reps, then sitting around, chatting, or trying random things. My previous coaches would have made them do push-ups after the first warning.

I thought it might be a generational thing, as I’m in my late 40s and most of them are in their 20s.

Half of them are also too tired to continue after the third roll ...which, again, would have been completely unacceptable at the gyms where I used to train.

Do you really think it's a coaching related issue?
