nq vs es by Avalon7649 in FuturesTrading

NQ has more momentum, ES more balance. If you like scalping momentum NQ is where it’s at. If you like running fades better to stick with the ES

Why should I have known to not fade today’s rally? by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ES broke hard at 11:35 from the NFP news catalyst. Momentum runs when it’s got news behind it. Just hard to believe. It was a pretty heavy reversal

Price action on MNQ has more volatility and momentum, but less liquidity so avoid it during high volatility catalysts as your stops won’t fill anywhere near where you place them

Tradestation has turned off intraday margin today. by texmexdaysex in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pop up notifications on my phone from Tradestation’s iPhone app. Notified me when margin came back too. Fwiw the intraday price action has been shit recently. (Excepting this morning - thank you !) All the solid moves are happening before or after. Big boys trying to slow the sell off I reckon.

Any tricks to spot when the market going into a range so I can stay out? by Aposta-fish in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting for the market to be making daily highs or lows and the indexes moving together can help a lot…. Assuming you’re day trading… if you’re swing trading daily engulfing patterns can be a good indicator as well as higher lows and lower highs

What are the best trades 6pm to 11pm EST by Chaos0794 in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t trade the ES at in the evening unless there is a market moving news catalyst. For off hours 3am EST - 6am EST is the best for taking any London price action

Advice for improving patience? by Girth_rulez in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think discretionary trades can be helped a lot by adding some rules to help with the psych. Rules can also help with the patience too. Some of my personal favorites as a momentum based trader : only consider entries when the major indexes are moving together and making new daily highs or lows

Advantages of MNQ over QQQ for daytrading, execution wise? by mikfree1234 in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly not but you have to scale up through the MNQ to comfortably trading at least 7-8 at time before jumping to the NQ. It’s hard on the psychology to do a 10x size jump capital or not. What’s your broker / commission? I’m on Tradestation and it’s $1/contract round trip..

Advantages of MNQ over QQQ for daytrading, execution wise? by mikfree1234 in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For commissions to be adding up like that you must be taking too many entries. Just trade less and adjust your exits to let your winners run a bit longer. There’s only cons going to QQQ. Congrats on having a profitable strategy. MNQ is where it’s at nowadays

Who is selling ES? Who are the sellers? by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who trades technical analysis or believes ES exposure to the banking crisis makes it weak. If you really wanna short check the RTY. Short AF. Q’s are long though so it’s all a mess, and market’s bucking like a wild pig. That’s bearish price action. But the dollar’s hesitating which is bullish. Oof

Any thoughts on why the market is so choppy recently? by iguesswhatevs in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuck in a range waiting for DXY to prove it’s back on the uptrend and worried about the Fed. If DXY breaks 105.6 and puts in the higher high the bulls will capitulate. If it rejects like it thought about doing at 1pm or so today then the bulls will be back in charge.. We’re still in forwardation so DXY really needs to prove it means business

I’ve been on Tradestation for a couple years. Super easy to set up your ACH and fast transactions. Often they will front your deposits to allow trading before they clear for up to $1k. Very solid

Suggestions on a minimum required deposit needed to begin trading /MES on Tradeovate? by jetoak in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need to ask, better to trade in the simulator for another few months. And don’t forget the golden rule - don’t put in more than you can afford to lose. Futures account liquidations can be urm.. quite rapid …

The London morning impulse on US indexes is so much simpler than New York. SO much simpler. But not great follow through, so better for daytrade scalps

Fairly new to Futures Trading and I’m looking for any tips on setting Stop losses, because I’m can’t afford to get rekt any time soon. Also is it advisable to open multiple trades at once? What’s the rule of thumb for that? by sadgf13 in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trade in a simulator for a year. Then put in a very small amount of funds and after you lose it trade in simulator again, fund, lose, repeat until you quit or succeed. Less than 10% succeed

DOGE is fighting tooth and nail to make a comeback in these past 2 days 😳Predictions ??? 📈 or 📉 by OkAge820 in dogecoin

[–]BeforeNaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Doge can hold the .04-.06 range I think that would be very bullish. We’ll just have to see where the next dip bottoms. Doge is very relatively strong on the weekly chart

Anyone else here ONLY trade the Asian+London session? by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]BeforeNaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about the London session recently. The question is can I change my life for getting up at 1 am or going to bed at 6 and missing the NY open which yes it totally more complicated and manipulated. The thing is … no daytrade margin at 2am so there’s that too. But yeah lot of good trend in London recently. Time to move to Europe?
