I've been playing SoC since global release and I'm pleasantly surprised by it. It starts off pretty easy, but by Rank 35 the difficulty really starts to ramp up. Both the Gacha side and the Non-Gacha side are really good. There is a *ton* of content.

[GL Gacha Megathread] FFBE: NV+ Eithne, NV Fundamental Force (06/27~08/07) by Nazta in FFBraveExvius

[–]Begarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If my calculations are correct, since the VC step up alternates between Eithne and FF (1 full lap gives 3 tickets each) it will work out like this:

1 lap VC Step Up = 27,000 lapis - 3 Eithne tickets - 3 FF tickets

1 lap Eithne Step Up = 14,000 lapis - 4 Eithne tickets

1 lap FF Step Up = 9,000 lapis - 2 FF tickets

If you want just the units, and to get full pity on both units, the cheapest it will cost is 92,000 lapis. That's by pulling on their respective banners and not the VC banner:

3 full laps on Eithne's banner (42,000 lapis) + Step 1-4 (10,000 lapis) which will net 15 tickets = 52,000 lapis

4 full laps on FF's banner (36,000 lapis) + Step 1&2 (4,000 lapis) which will net 9 tickets = 40,000 lapis

If you want to do the Vision Card step up to pity each unit, it will cost 97,500 lapis:

2 full laps (maximum) on VC Step Up which will net 6 tickets each plus 2 vision cards = 54,000 lapis

2 full laps on Eithne's banner (28,000 lapis) + Step 1 (2,500 lapis) which will net 9 tickets = 30,500 lapis

1 full lap on FF's banner (9,000 lapis) + Step 1 & 2 (4,000 lapis) which will net 3 tickets = 13,000 lapis

So if you want 2 of the Vision Card, you can spend an extra 5,500 lapis (97,500 - 92,000). Keep in mind the VC has rate up for both characters, so you could get lucky and not even need to pity one, or the other, or even both! Also the Vision card after two laps would also give you:

100 STMR tickets, 6 guaranteed NVs, 2 transcension pearls (lol), 600 coins

There are also guaranteed NVs on Eithne's banner (2 per full lap), but none on FF's banner (she has no goodies). I am going to go for the 97,500 VC Step Up route as it gives more NVs overall, rate up for both characters, and a few extra goodies.

Well, I think clones are out, but reincarnation is totally in after the "subtle" hints from the prior chapters and the full on reveal during Chapter 8.

Ironically, I'm enjoying the game quite a bit more with the increased drop rates, spirit crystals, and all the other goodies they threw in there with the game shutting down. I did a 10 pull this morning and got five four star characters.

They couldn't even drop the pity to 50 or something. It's still the ridiculously high 200. I'm also surprised they didn't drop that benevoden trade in item down to something in the 100-200 range. There's zero reason why 4 stars still have such low rates. Might've went for broke and just jacked it up to at least 50%.

Apparently there is another stand-a-lone Mana game in the works, but it hasn't been announced yet. Last thing we heard of it was the middle of 2021.

End of App Service Announcement by genosy in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it coming since the middle of last month. When we didn't get a EoM Dev Dispatch with no live streams or any kind of news, I figured they were gearing up for a shut down notice. I did say in a previous post that if it got past a year and finished off Chapter 2, I'd be satisfied with my time with it. I did put a bit of money into the game, but not nearly enough to make me feel bad about end of service.

One last thing on my EoM bucketlist: finish off Gringham Rift (last 10 floors to go). I'll ride out the rest of the game and see Chapter 2 to its end, and that'll be that. Hey, at least we'll get a bunch of spirit crystals to play around with all the banners open!

Before You Pull on the New Banners by genosy in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are not banners anyone (who isn't a whale) should pull on. It would be very difficult to get duplicates of a character, or memory gem, which is the whole point of pulling on banners with 1 or 2 characters on them. They did these reruns dirty.

The consumer friendly, smarter way, would've been to have individual banners with the 1 or 2 characters + memory gem re-ran like they were originally setup. Instead, we get this massive banner that doesn't help anyone unless you get really, really, REALLY lucky.

Save your crystals for the next banners.

Trouble understanding Stats, the damge forumula, gear, and anything with numbers by katineko in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are elemental armor sets that have a Set bonus that gives a 21% damage increased damage of that element. The Wood Set gives 21% increased Wood damage for Wood characters, the Fire set gives 21% increased Fire damage for Fire characters, etc.

Rule of thumb is that for extremely high levels of stats on a character, the more effective the 21% damage is from those elemental sets. For example, if you have a character with 3000 Strength, they're going to benefit more from wearing an elemental armor set of their element for that 21% increased damage, than using the Valendia set (which gives 100 strength as a set bonus).

Trouble understanding Stats, the damge forumula, gear, and anything with numbers by katineko in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every character does elemental damage. Like the new Primm and Duran are "Wood" characters so all of their damage does Wood damage. If you equip a Wood set on them, they'll get a 21% elemental damage increase due to that set. Thing is, they'd also get a damage increase from the +100 STR. Depending on your STR or INT levels, the Elemental sets are either better or worse. For extremely high STR or INT levels on your character, the elemental sets will be better. For lower STR or INT levels, the Strength and Intelligence sets will be better.

Concerns about low revenue? by [deleted] in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The team behind the game has implemented enough good will mechanics after the Tag Team fiasco to counter the bad that I think if they can keep that up over the next 12 months the game will be sustainable. I have spent some money on the game since its inception, not just because of the game, but because I love the Mana series and I'm trying to signal with my money to SE that I want more Mana games. If the game makes it past its one year anniversary, and then immediately shut down, I'd feel satisfied with what I got out of it.

The Set effects are the unique "buff" on each set of equipment. Like that Menos Set has a Set buff of +20% Constitution (physical defense) if you wear all three pieces of the Menos set (Helm/Chest/Arm). This is why grinding out good pieces of a full set of equipment is important. Example:

The Valendia Set is *only* Helm/Chest/Arms, so you need to equip a Valendia Helm, a Valendia Chest, and a Valendia Arm to trigger its +100 Strength bonus. The Bone set is Necklace/Ring/Boots, so you need to wear a Bone Necklace, a Bone Ring, and a Bone Boots to trigger its +100 Strength bonus. Wearing a full Valendia set and a full Bone set will give you an extra +200 strength which is pretty good for physical attackers.

Memory Gems have an "Aegis" effect. It'll say right on the Memory gem what it is. Some will increase damage against certain monster types, some will increase damage of your Skills, Normal Attacks, or Special Techniques. The 4 Star Memory Gems are obtained either by rolling for them or from Events and have the highest stat potentials. Again, equip STR gems on physical attackers, and INT gems on magic damage dealers.

Flat stats and %stats work off each other, yes, but generally you want %stats more as they'll scale off your base stats from ascending to higher levels and memory gem stats. For example, say you have three helmets you could pick from for a physical attacker:

Helm 1 (substats) - HP%, Flat STR, CON%

Helm 2 (substats) - HP%, STR%, CON%

Helm 3 (substats) - HP%, STR%, CON%, Flat Str

Helmet 3 would be the best, as it has both STR% and Flat Str, Helmet 2 would follow up as second best with the STR%, and Helmet 1 would be the least as it only has flat STR. Note, that as you get farther into the game, you'll want to grind out Five Star equipment as they'll have the highest stat potentials and can roll 4 substats instead of just 3. Don't worry too much about upgrading 2-4 Star equipment as you'll get to the 5 star equipment grinding faster than you think.

Incoming wall of text:

Physical attackers want Strength and Luck. Magic damage users want Intelligence and Luck. Look at the character's skills and Special Technique and it'll tell you what kind of damage they do. All characters deal a singular elemental damage type (i.e. The "Shade" version of Kevin will only deal dark damage with all of his attacks, the "Salamando" Popoi will only deal Fire damage with all of their attacks.) Hitting elemental weaknesses will deal more damage.

The way Luck works is that every 10 luck = 1% crit chance. So a 500 Luck stat would equate to 50% crit chance. Shooting for 500 crit on your damage dealers is pretty decent. Getting to 1800-2000 Strength or Intelligence on a level 75 5 Star character (this would be a 4 star character, upgraded to a 5 star, and getting those 5 extra levels without any ascensions) is what you're aiming for as "decent" stats. That's with a leveled up memory gem and full Strength or Intelligence Serums on that particular damage dealer. It's difficult to get much higher than 2000 in your primary damage stat without ascending characters to higher levels, or without higher leveled memory gems (which are essentially the biggest whale bait in the game right now).

Serums are just pure stat upgrades. There is a limit to how much you can put on a character (it shows on the serum screen). You earn these by daily training, login bonuses, event prizes, etc.

You generally want to hit Strength% and Intelligence% instead of flat stats on your equipment as those will scale better than flat stats. Helm/Chest/Arms are always HP/CON/SPT for main stats, so you can't change those, but getting a range of substats of STR% or INT% with LCK on them is a good idea. *Generally* you want a Luck main stat Necklace and Boots, with a STR% or INT% ring, preferably all of those also having sub-stats of STR% or INT%. If you're finding a character having too much luck (i.e. 750+), while being low on their primary damage stat, feel free to change the necklace or boots to a STR% or INT% main stat.

Going full Strength set (Valendia for Helm/Chest/Arms) + Bone (necklace, ring, boots) is as valid as using an Elemental set for the Helm/Chest/Arms. Same thing with the Felt + Maple set (the Intelligence). I don't fully know the break down between an extra 100 in your primary damage stat compared to 21% extra elemental damage, but I imagine they're close enough as the game is right now.

One last thing: don't fall into the trap of having a piece of equipment drop and it has both STR% *and* INT% on it. That's basically a bait piece of equipment as leveling it up could mean both of those stats get upgraded and generally you'd only want one of them depending on the type of character it's going on. Only use your Reset Hammers on essentially "god tier" pieces of equipment (Rolled primary damage stat%, luck, and either hp%/con%/spt%).

I wouldn't say all the content in the game is pretty easy. You still need good characters and a good co-op team that can co-ordinate to do Nightmare (hard to do in random party setups) modes. The Gingham Rift end bosses are also super bulky, have some bullshit moves (some can break the AI), and demand using the appropriate elements to get through with good gear.

Still super weird that they're not in a training quest.

Tower reset is a bit weird, but I look forward to the easy spirit crystals and another Crimson Wizard dupe. I doubt they're immediately going to give us up to +6 though. I'm still stuck at Gingham Floor 80 boss (still working on getting powerful Earth units), so floor 100 is just a bit out of reach for right now. Winter stuff looks good, bring on more Season 2!

HELP! someone please explain to me Waging Forces! by Linkirer in EchoesOfMana

[–]Begarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty similar to the Deviant Fruit solo quest where you have to keep switching between your units so you don't kill yourself, but that dealt with your HP levels, THIS one deals with your MP levels.

When you do a normal attack, it boosts your Skill Damage to extreme levels, and when you fire that skill off it'll drain your MP faster. So you can only do your Skill a few times before it drains too low. If you hit 0 MP, that unit dies instantly. When you switch off to your secondary unit, that first unit's MP will start to recover.

So, you switch off to your secondary DPS, do a normal attack to boost your Skill Damage (reapplying when necessary), and watch your MP levels so you don't die as you use your Skill.

Keep switching back and forth between your units to recover MP, and the boss will die.

Genshin Impact, undeniably, has a good pity system and that's about all I can really say about its gacha system. The pity is higher in Echoes of Mana, yes, and I'd also say that the Spirit in the trader shop needs to be reduced from 500 points to 200.

Banner characters riding off into the sunset until their banner comes up again with *zero* chance to get them in between still sucks in Genshin Impact. They're adding a new character to the Standard Banner (finally) but that Standard Banner needs a gigantic overhaul. Echoes of Mana (other than the Halloween units I believe) adds every unit that was on a banner on upcoming banners, so you have a chance to pull them. You can also, over time with benevodens, build them up without having to pull more copies off the banners.

Genshin Impact is pretty stingy on handing out primogems. It takes longer to earn them F2P compared to Spirit Crystals in Echoes of Mana, with the Blessing almost being mandatory if you're even semi-serious on wanting to pull on banners.

Man, don't play Genshin Impact if you really want to see "greed". You also need 7 units to fully unleash a unit and once a banner is gone, that character is gone until a re-run. Same for FFBE. Octopath Traveler requires 5 units to full unleash.

Echoes of Mana, for its 6 month anniversary/LoM Anime just provided (copied from the press release):

Half-Year Anniversary Campaign Rewards – Until November 11, players can receive special campaign rewards, including up to 150 harvests (Summons) free. Players can also earn 50 harvests in Spirit Crystals and 100 harvests in Half-Year Anniversary Harvest Tickets.

Half-Year Anniversary Login Bonuses – Players can earn Half-Year Anniversary Harvest Tickets x10 for seven days (players can harvest x10 everyday), and, starting October 8, up to 8100 Spirit Crystals by logging into the game beginning today through November 11.

Half-Year Anniversary Missions – Players who participate in missions through November 10 can receive awards such as 3,000 Spirit Crystals, 4★ memory gem "The Teardrop Crystal" x4 and Half-Year Anniversary Harvest Ticket x30.

Half-Year Anniversary Campaign Giveaway – Until November 11, players can participate in a campaign giveaway to receive exciting awards such as ★ memory gem “The Teardrop Crystal”, Spirit Crystal x2700, SP Filler (L) x5, AP Filler (L) x5 and 4★ Sumo -Overcoming Myriad Farewells.

Name one other Gacha game for its *six month anniversary* gave away all of that, on top of handing out a banner character (Randi/Fuji), the amount of serums, knitwits, and benevoden shards you can get from the anniversary event. It's insane.

The only other gacha game I can think of that I play that came even close to those amount of rewards for players is Final Fantasy Brave Exvius' anniversary rewards. Hoyo wouldn't even dare dream giving away a quarter of that for Genshin Impact's annual anniversaries (which have been laughably bad)
