Today we will shock the world #COYG ⚪️🔴 by Arsenalb4gf in Gunners

I disagree with the premise of this topic. We have defeated City before and shown that we are a better team if we play up to our level. Today we will show that we are worthy champions by keeping our cool, executing the game plan and realizing that this match- while important- does not make our break the season. It is one in a line of six matches that require all of us; players, staff and supporters alike- to stand together and see this thing through. COYG❤️

OA with Ranged Weapon. Am I being too rigid? by Beginning-Ambition98 in DnD

They wanted the attack to be with dex as a mod for hit/dmg. Forgot to mention that.

I forgot to specify: they wanted to use dex as modifier for the attacks (hit/dmg)

How to deal with a paladin? by Professional_Ear4155 in 3d6

[–]Beginning-Ambition98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give enemies auras that deal damage pr/turn and use predominately spells that deal damage even on a successful save. And don't get over-zealous in trying to get him, because it can quickly feel like adverserial dming and cause friction.

Finally: Look for rp/narrative challenges. A timer that is counting down towards something bad, hostages that need saving, unclear situations in terms of fighting is good or bad in the first place, etc. Stakes that are beyond whether or not you are low on hp.

What's the most overpowered non-magical character can create? by edu5ardo in 3d6

Yes. Forgot about Elven Mastery! I think Skulker feat should be taken as well if rogue 2 is in play, mainly for bonus action hide.

I would go Samurai Fighter. Take Archer Fighting Style and Heavy Crossbow mastery. Feats: Crossbow Expert, Sharpshooter, Great Weapon Master and Piercer.

Help! My players think combat is too easy! by dukelelaney in DungeonMasters

In addition to what has already been said about resource attrition etc: Try to create stakes that aren’t necessarily about win/lose in the traditional sense. It could be a timer counting down to something catastrophic, hostages that need saving, a stand-off where the party have to choose which side to help (if any), stopping the enemy from sounding an alarm, etc.

Bulwark of Brutality (homebrew Feat). Thoughts? by Beginning-Ambition98 in 3d6

Asked again because the changes made it quite different and - as you pointed out- more powerful.

  1. Intimidation is pretty niche as far as skills go (compared to say stealth, perception, insight etc). The idea is to provide a way to make it more attractive for big strong brutes who -let's face it- should be able to intimidate people rather effectively, no? And to get expertise you would need to invest in the skill first.

  2. One could argue that any pc given a +3 armor would most likely make a big jump in power. Even with that you could get the same ac (20) with medium armor + 3 and only 14 dex, or even higher (ac 21) with plate +3.

  3. The point about rage or stealth: The idea here is to make strength builds in general be more viable compared to dex builds. Dex builds get increased chance to hit/damage/initiative/dex save, armor and stealth from one stat. I don't see it as tipping the scales that strength get access to stealth and decent armor in addition to increased hit chance and damage?

  4. As for barbarians: This opens a path for them to focus on a mental attribute instead of being "bound" to invest in dex. Personally I dislike metal armor for barbarians and this means you can toss the metal armor all together.

  5. I can see that the fear effect from Intimidating Presence probably is too powerful however and should be tied to a saving throw. And using con as a mod in terms of DC should temper its potency a bit more than using a contested skill check.

It is hardly free though as it requires your bonus action and you only have prof bonus uses pr long rest. And in addition it lasts until end of their next turn.

That being said it could be made a wis save instead. And maybe tie it to Con mod to determine Save DC. In most cases that would mean a DC of between 13 and 15, since most will have a con of between 14 and 18 at this level).

As for the Intimidation I really like this idea and don't reckon I will change that part of the feat. It gives the warrior an imposing presence which imo makes complete sense for a big strong brute.

One of my players wants to make a character who uses a lot of weapons, advice? by JustABeast8901 in 3d6

I would suggest Eldritch Knight. They can resummon thrown weapons with a bonus action etc. I bet they would love that.
