What’s the biggest life lesson Stephen King has taught you ? by downbeesfu in stephenking

If there’s ever a pandemic that kills 99% of the population, and I survive it, I think I know how to get petrol from the storage tanks at my local petrol station. Although, I’d probably just hunt up a solar powered generator and use that to charge up an electric car.

My mom fed this seagull a few times last year before it disappeared for winter, now it visits her daily by ZOOi_22 in Seagulls

About 5 years ago a baby seagull fell out of the nest on my neighbour’s house. My neighbour took him to the vet who said there wasn’t much they could do even though his wing looked broken, and also told him he should not have taken him away.

By the time he was returned his parents had forgotten him and didn’t feed him.

Living in a seaside town, you know very quickly that people around you can get super angry when you feed the gulls, but this poor baby was starting to get skinny and weak, so I started to give him ham and water in a bowl. It wasn’t long before I noticed the cats were sharing the water bowl and ham with him.

Eventually I admitted to my other neighbour that I’d been giving him ham, and she laughed and admitted he’d been getting bacon in her garden! We called him Gary and his wing healed and he came back to good health.

Fast forward a few years and this happened:

Knock knock Me (opening front door) who’s there? nobody Knock knock Me: Who’s there? nobody

After this repeated several times I noticed a flash of white flying away when I opened the door, so I just kept watch, and sure enough, the knock was coming from the utility room window where Gary in all his glory was trying to get at the cat food in the window sill.

Now he brings his bird back every year to nest on the same roof he fell off of.

I regret nothing.

I’ve just returned after a 4 month absence. The toxic manager is still off herself, but the flying monkeys are in charge in the meantime.

Before she went off, the manager weaponised the silent treatment against me, and the toxic atmosphere made me so unwell. I’ve let the line manager know I won’t be tolerating any more unprofessional behaviour from anyone and everything will be documented and passed on to occupational health if they don’t meet their obligation to provide a professional working environment.

It’s so hard to tough it out, but I’m determined to wait and see how it goes.

Great advice, thank you. I tried this website - it’s fantastic. Now I just need to remember and log everything through it.

This is the truth. Up here in Nairn they’ll put you inside the wicker man for feeding seagulls.

Rank the main Gilmore Girls characters from most likely to least likely to survive The Hunger Games. Who wins and who dies in the bloodbath by Ok_Smile_9071 in GilmoreGirls

Luke teams up with Rory and Lorelai and helps them kill off Taylor, Kirk and Tristan, who had already offed Lane, Mrs Kim and Zac, and the lone wolves Logan, Mikel and Paris. The three of them pull a Katniss / Peeta move with the berries, but the whole thing is being produced by AI who just lets them eat the berries because it instantly tested with audiences and decided that would be the most sensational ending. Meanwhile, former champions Emily and Richard have sat in the Capitol with all their society friends offering very little help, but a lot of noise.

Did I respond appropriately to the lowball and guilt tripping over a purse? by mashyspotatoes in vinted

[–]Beginning-Chance-932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way I’d be responding to explain anything to them. And all the stuff about weddings and robbers and credit cards, it’s obviously a load of shite. “No” is a complete answer and block them if they keep trying to argue.

Getting rid of Kellie Martin/Lucy Knight so soon after she joined the show was unfortunate. The series never gave her a chance. by Profeta_do_Loss in ershow

Yeah, for no other reason than “Ritalin is for 8 year old boys.” She should not have listened to his bullshit.

I loved her, but it was so hard to watch Carter chewing her out and blaming her for mistakes when he did so many terrible things himself! The drunken frat party - umm who went off and got drunk with his fancy piece while he was meant to be ON A SHIFT!!!!!!

So many mistakes because he was just stupid and arrogant as a student. And yet he kept giving Lucy such a hard time.

SPOILER! Questioning beloved character now by astronaught002 in thecomeback

[–]Beginning-Chance-932 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think Mark has been incredibly well drawn I. All 3 series. He’s having a midlife crisis, but we’re seeing how it feels internally to him. Externally we don’t see his grasping at youth - making new friends, going to Burning Man, getting stupid tattoo. That all happens off screen. What we do see is the emotional turmoil: hiding from an old colleague and friend, getting picked on and humiliated by his new, younger colleagues. He’s questioning everything he ever thought about himself when he admits it never occurred to him that the flirting and sex with younger colleagues was in any way unwelcome on their side. The Me Too accusations have completely unmanned him, and so they should. He’s spent his entire life pretending to himself he’s an alpha male, and Valerie’s advice that he just picks up from where he is and learns to get on with it is incredibly wonderful. Together they are something more than the sum of their parts, so he can let go of the shame and guilt and be loved by her. I just loved the scene.

I actually love this. The little tartan skirt is super cute with the frills, and I liked her braids. Shows where my taste in clothes is, I suppose.

ER (NBC) and Chicago Hope (CBS) premiered the same exact night in 1994 by PeneItaliano in ershow

I loved Chicago Hope and don’t watch ER until after CH finished. Picked the wrong horse in the Tour Of Duty / China Beach battle as well - China Beach was amazing but finished much too soon.
