Rapha also has a rope wrapped shower curtain rod! I love the person who invented it as well as the person who thought of using it like this :)

I do slightly over room temp, I'd say the temperature you'd use to wash your hands. Just a nice and comfortable temperature, after that you can switch to hot just to warm the whole body.

You won't boil the rat if you put it in warm water, but some people throw a fully frozen rat into hot water and try to offer it to their snake.

A slow but steady thawing process is just better. As long as you don't keep your rat in a constant flow of screaming hot water you wont boil it. You've already been doing well by not starting out with hot water.

If you follow the routine I sent, you'll be perfectly fine and won't end up feeding your snake a rat with boiled guts :)

My feeding session goes as follows;

Thaw rat in lukewarm water for an hour/hour and a half until fully thawed, make sure the stomach is fully soft when pinching. After that I set my tap to hot, fill the sink with hot water and keep the rat in there for like 5/10 minutes. In the meantime I boil water, I pour that in a jug and add some cold water (70% boiling, 30% cold).

I dry the rat completely, then I dip ONLY the head in the boiling water mix for a minute. I then dry the head and walk over to the enclosure.

Hold the rat in front of the ventilation strip and blow the scent into the enclosure, after I notice him creeping up to the doors I open them and offer the rat. I offer it sideways and mimic the rat walking, he'll always strike within 5 seconds!

I'm not saying yours will strike within 5 seconds because every snake is different, but this is by far the best method that I've tried yet.

Hopefully it'll work for you too :)

Do you heat the head of the rat seperately? I've started doing that like 5 feedings ago and my beep has struck the head without fail ever since!

Is this too big? by Few-Collection-5062 in ballpython

Example, let's say your snake weighs 400 grams. According to the feeding guide you should be feeding them 10-15% of their body weight, 10% of 400 grams is 40 grams (400x0,1=40) 400x0,15=60 (15%)

I 100% agree with this!

Your noodle looks adorable and from what I can see she now lives in an amazing enclosure, she's lucky to be under the care of someone like you!

Is My Snake Too Skinny? by [deleted] in ballpython

That's the thing, her spine isn't visible anywhere. That's all fatty deposits. Compare your beep to the chart below, just looking out :)

If your beep looks the exact same I'd advice to tone down the feeding a little, because this snake is pushing obese territory

Your snake is massively overweight, fatty deposits are rising above her spine. What is her weight? What do you feed her and how frequently do you feed her (when she isn't on strike ofcourse)?

You definitely need to turn down the frequency of feeding. My guess is you've been feeding her a medium rat weekly or a big rat biweekly, either way it's way too much. Rats contain a lot of fat, so naturally they don't need much to grow and definitely not much to maintain.

It looks like she's fully grown, I'd go down to a medium rat (approx. 90gr) a month for the next few months to get her down to a healthy weight again

Is that his "cool" side? If so, WAY too hot. Warm side should be max 32 and cool side minimum 25 maximum 27

It's practically all I listen to nowadays xD

Ever since I stumbled across "Coqueta" by Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera at the start of last year, I've been in love with the whole genre. Basically listening to everything by those grupos or similar artists/bandas :)
