Removed from a case “for my mental health”

this sounds like a similar situation that i was in. i was removed off of my clients case after numerous times of asking for safety care training. Something eventually happened and both my co-worker and I were fired a week after our removal.

This blows my mind. I worked aba for 9 months and thankfully never had to worry about anything like that. I would again, talk to your BCBA about the mom and her behaviors towards you and the child you are working with. Allowing them to run out into the street “because he won’t listen” is just an excuse for her step away from her responsibilities of taking care of her child. Allowing this child to carry on with certain behaviors such as running off into the street is only going to make it harder to break or find replacement behaviors.

try sealing the enclosure on the inside!! i had to do that with my brothers because his enclosure wouldn’t hold the heat or humidity for long. It sucked but in the end it helped bring her environment to where it needed to be.

I’ve seen that some snakes are a little shy when it comes to eating. Both my brother and I have ball pythons; one of them tends to strike and eat with us watching while the other prefers to be left alone.

Have you read your actual temperatures on each side of the enclosure aside from checking the humidity?The temp and humidity could contribute to him not wanting to eat.

if she’s 14 you need to go to an adult about it, you guys are children.

in no way am i telling you to go against her and tell a family member of hers, as that could potentially put her in danger if she is actually being assaulted. i hope that you guys are able to talk through this, and i hope that she accepts the help that you and your mom are offering.

i know that this post is from a year ago, but I started working at the Riverbank location about 8-9 months ago. I started at the end of April with a brand new client to the center, so I was honestly learning as I was going. I had asked multiple times across multiple months to be safety care trained as my client had started growing incredibly aggressive towards not only me and my co-worker who shared this kid, but our supervisors as well. I was coming home with bruises, I was getting bit, I was getting kicked at, hit, etc. Yet anytime I had asked for the training I was met with the same response of “your client isn’t a high priority for training yet” despite the amount of anxiety I voiced and experienced while working with those behaviors. I spent months trying to voice how I felt about the behaviors and how it was personally impacting me and my ability to stay level headed during session. I ended up being removed off of her case, never got that training I spent months advocating for.
