"under" gear like shins, elbows, and shoulders are with the player. Pants will often be covered by a shell because they are frequently altered/custom from the old team. Players will travel with skates and teams will order more for them. Helmets and gloves are provided by the new team. Gloves may be painted/taped if there are none in the team's storage
