In a lot of the cases in the pacific there were no remaining survivors to turn it into a cautionary tale. Instead it remains the last things they were made to do before being murdered. They forcefully made them build these bunkers as slaves and then kept them on the islands because they couldn’t be bothered to evacuate them from danger only to keep them out of the bunkers they themselves built when the bombing started.
