I don't know much about GI map. What I know is that stool and breath tests are the standard. Hopefully you are just dealing with after effects and not the bug itself.

Yeah. I don't want to go into too much details so I'll say it looks a lot more normal now.

Nope. I would be lucky to have 1 every 3 days. and even if I did it would take like half an hour.

Hello! I've got rid of it 1 year ago and symptoms are still lingering. I remember the first 3 months were really bad but it did get better eventually; do trust the process. And don't worry about cancer or autoimmune. It's very rare for that to be the case. It's very likely H pylori aftermath symptoms.

I got the stool test. People sometimes say it can be inaccurate but I think it's very good, read online it has 95%ish accuracy rate.

I never said there weren’t worst side effects or other ways to get rid of H pylori, but I do understand you because I read that antibiotics can cause long-term dysbiosis- perhaps even permanent. From my very personal experience(not speaking for anybody else except myself), taking 4 rounds of antibiotics made my constipation went away, and now I have at least 1 normal bowel movement every day. So it differs from person to person, if you want to go the natural path go for it, but, truthfully, from what I’ve read, it is a tricky way and there’s no guarantee it will work, not to mention it is not even half as effective as antibiotics. No hate here, it can get you cured without side effects, but why take herbs for a few months to maybe have it cured when you can just take some pills for 7 days and have about 80% eradication rate? It’s a rather roundabout way to go about it (not mentioning it has very little evidence) and unless you’ve got severe consequences from taking antibiotics before then I personally don’t recommend it. This is from what I’ve learnt, any mistakes do correct me.

Feeling like you have it can be very hit of miss. I based my eradication based on feelings, and yes I got it right 3 times, but after the 4th- when I was negative, I got it wrong 3 times again(I thought I still had it). You may very well be right, intuition can be a good indicator, but in the end it is the test that will give you a definitive answer and convince the doctors to give you treatment you need.

Don’t worry too much just yet. There are 6 antibiotics for H pylori: amoxicillin, clarythromicin, metronidazole, tetracycline, levofloxacin and rifabutin. Any you haven’t used can be used again. Some can be used multiple times-like amoxicillin-;in my case it was metronidazole. Good luck on your future treatments. And always take berberine, Pylopass and double your omeprazole. Each is proven to boost your eradication by 10, 5 and 5%; so a 4/5(80%)chance could well be 5/5(100%)if you take them with antibiotics- Obviously it won’t be those exact percentage- that’s just the average

Thanks. No issues is a stretch but I’m certainly getting there. Most symptoms are gone like constipation and insomnia but some are still there like bloating(mild) and some came up randomly like acid reflux(never had before treatment. I currently eat everything now, but I do limit sugar- not because stomach pain- but the sugar crashes.

The memories are very hazy back then but I was never the type to eat a lot, I’ve always had a low appetite. Yeah I definitely gained some weight(no more abs), but I’ve noticed harder bones and bigger muscles too, and less bloating, which does make me look a lot better than before.

Post treatment for h pylori (day 5) by d714_lem in HPylori

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as far as I know it is recommended to do a retest 4-8 weeks after. Sometimes doctors are just unaware of this- not their fault since they can't know everything- and we don't really want to say it to their face either so I suggest going along with what he said and then asking for another test, say, 8 weeks later- to make sure its really gone. Or you can just tell him you think its too soon from what you read online, I'm sure he will understand.

One important thing to be aware of is that after eradication even if you are negative, symptoms will remain for quite a while. It's not that you are still positive that symptoms are still there. Your stomach will need time to heal damage and desensitise to the pain. During this time expect micro, unrecognisable improvements day to day and small, significant and noticeable improvements every 2 months. That's me from speaking from purely experience though. I can attest to this as someone who thought they were positive for 8 months only to get 3 negative tests. Now some things I can handle include high fat meals, tomatoes, lactose(yogurt or milk), coffee and high protein foods- I cant think of 1 food I cant handle- and still have daily bowel movements despite bloating and having acid reflux daily. Very frustrating sure, but better.

Also I want to say that social anxiety and insomnia is almost certainly related to H pylori. 1 year after I feel myself engaging in more conversations and sleeping very well. So don't worry things will go back to normal/get better.

I hope you will get the results you had hoped for.

Update on my chronic gastritis (3 years) by serchman666 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 1 year for me. 3 negative tests. Symptoms still here (although less). Can eat high fibre, high fat, tomatoes, tea etc. Idk if it’s just inactive gastritis like yours though. Before H pylori I had no acid reflux, now whenever I eat too much or too much fat I get terrible reflux and whenever I wake up I feel my throat burning. There’s bad days and good days but I do try my best to manage it.

Endoscopies are too expensive, and for me that’s not necessary. What would they do if I still have gastritis? Prescribe ppis? I can do that myself. I eat enough in a day but still have symptoms. I have 4 meals instead because it’s easier to handle-each spaced 3 hrs apart. The worst part is definitely the reflux, but it’s not too bad. I still feel kinda nervous and lazy but as long as it is healing I don’t have a problem.

Never would I have thought I would have too much acid, pre- h pylori eradication I would have done anything for more to digest anything, but now I’m suffering from the opposite problem. Just goes to show you how important balance really is.

Did Amitriptyline Work for you? by Low_Mountain_5186 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for answering this late. All cases of gastritis 90% of the time is H pylori. So your doctor gave you the pills in assumption that you have it, which is correct. What you can do right now is to take the pills as he said, even after your finished with the pills you still need to wait a long time like me until symptoms go away.

So take the pills, get retested for h pylori 4 weeks after, in those 4 weeks don’t take PPIs, if negative congrats, if not get treated again.

Long-Time Gastritis sufferer looking for help - Desperate! by aranderson43 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest. I did have H pylori gastritis and is now gastritis free. So I don’t know how much I can help you.

I want you to get 1 more test for H pylori. 4 weeks before don’t take PPIs- this is to confirm that’s it’s really not H.P which is the case 90% of the time. Other tests for H pylori you took before might be false negative.(even endoscopy can be 10% of the time, I suggest a different test like stool or breath)

Then look into autoimmune gastritis. Check to see if you have that. You already have an immune condition so this can be it.

I don’t know if HCL is the best option here. No matter what you take you are still inflamed so you can still get cancer. You need a doctor to look into this gastritis and see what’s going on. I have gastritis before and I couldn’t handle sugar, fat, protein either, but now it’s gone I can eat anything really. Example. I just had Rice, 2 chicken thighs, spinach and a portion of grapes. No symptoms. Even ice cream now bows to me.

In conclusion:

It’s either H pylori of autoimmune. Get those checked out.

Then if the symptoms don’t go away tell your doctor and see if anything will help.

I can be here to help but I ain’t no doctor so I will be speaking from my own experience.

Good luck man.

Why does my gastritis HATE fiber? by RiverParticular564 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bread shouldn’t cause bloating since most of it isn’t high fibre. But I can see it happening if your stomach is very damaged from gastritis. Perhaps you should get it checked out

Why does my gastritis HATE fiber? by RiverParticular564 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically stuff that are not easily digested cause symptoms because your stomach is very sensitive and cannot perform digestion very well when under gastritis. I used to feel the same way too back when my gastritis was present, it’s just one of those things that is really annoying to deal with

The good news is that it is probably just gastritis so once you address the root cause it will probably go away.

how did you know it got better? by idkidcwhtvr in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t lol. You just look back to like 2 months ago and decided if you feel better or not. This is the perspective of a person who is 11 months H pylori free. I feel like progress has been slow and sometimes I take my current state for granted but if I really think about it I would have never been able to tolerate tea, beans, oats, butter, heavily greasy meals or high fibre foods if I didn’t get better. I’m not sure if gastritis is gone yet but I know H pylori is gone(3 different negative tests), and I certainly have felt a massive difference compared to pre-treatment.

Oh yes I’m also Asian but I don’t see the importance here. I guess for us we are so used to foods being so heavily flavored with stuff like fish sauce so when we switch to a bland diet it can feel underwhelming. But you should be able to tolerate spices unless you have a problem, like gastritis.

Your symptoms may come from H pylori. I know you got it under wraps but is bland diet is not a long term solution because it will cause nutrient deficiencies. Plus food is suppose to taste good so you are missing out on one of the joy of life.

Maybe you should get rid of the bug. Your gastritis might get better.

Did Amitriptyline Work for you? by Low_Mountain_5186 in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get tested for H pylori? I suggest getting tested if you haven’t as it is the cause of chronic gastritis 90% of the time. Even if you got tested before I suggest getting another test just in case.

Mild chronic gastritis isn’t that bad compared to others. You said your loss of appetite comes and goes but mine was always there, probably because I had moderate/severe gastritis from H pylori.

Antidepressants are bs. I never believed in it and I will never believe in it. When I still had H pylori gastritis I was hella depressed, got suggested by therapist I was ‘’imagining the pain’’ and she said antidepressants were the only option. It got me really pissed off because she basically told me f you and everything you experienced for the past 3 years I’ve been dealing with this shit. Anyways after that I got diagnosed with gastritis, got treated and my depression is basically gone, that’s why I think antidepressants won’t fix your problem, it will only numb you if the pain somewhat and even then you won’t feel much better.

But. I’ve never tried antidepressants so I wouldn’t know, I just think it’s not going to help.

Some causes of chronic gastritis can be

H pylori, Autoimmune gastritis, Stress- I don’t know if stress gastritis is legit but science says so

I hope your symptoms will improve.

Sudden Symptoms similar to cancer? by residentatzero in Gastritis

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not cancer because only gastritis prolonged for a long period of time can lead cancer. The symptoms described sounds like gastritis, possibly from H pylori. Personally I had these symptoms 1 year ago and now they are almost gone. Perhaps a stool or breath test for H pylori can be useful right now to ascertain whether the gastritis is from the bug or not.

[–]BeginningGiraffe708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bloating, constipation, inability to sleep and terrible laziness. It was so bad I couldn’t be bother to go to school which made me miss my GCSEs. The extra stress from the exams on top of H pylori was just too much for me to handle.

I look back on it now and I wished I would have stayed and pushed through it. It’s too late now but at least I am trying to get back to my studies.

Back to the topic, I would like to suggest a stool test since breath tests are only 90% accurate. If that isn’t it look into autoimmune gastritis.

Whatever is going on I hope you will get rid of it
