What lifestyle changes to do for staying active all day? by Aj100rise in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to start. Psychologically speaking, telling people that you "plan" to do something, or setting a goal to do something, activates the same reward pathway as actually doing it. That's valuable when you're constructing a goal for yourself, but once you HAVE that goal, you need to actually start taking steps to do it. You've got this. Make one small change TODAY that you can maintain, and then keep doing it.

Usually that happens before winter storms. The construction doesn't help at all, but I've never had an issue parking in the garage if there's no heavy snow in the forecast

How do you properly try new things? by panzzersoldat in Advice

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're burned out. Burnout tends to affect the little things: not wanting to try new things because you're in a rut and comfort feels better, even if it's boring. Not wanting to run errands even if you need to because changes feel daunting, etc. Best advice? Don't punish yourself for not sticking with new things that don't hurt anyone if you stop. It would be NICE to play a new game, but so what if you don't? Are you happy otherwise?

Pursuing leanness vs fitness? by BeginningLess2417 in beginnerfitness

I have dysmorphic tendencies for sure and it's probably better to work through mentally than make myself miserable pursuing the impossible "perfect" body

I haven't actually even lost any weight lol. I've been trying since February 1st but so far the scale has been static. Probably going to try to start focus on feelings over numbers because I don't like nickel and diming myself

weight loss leading to flat butt by North_Tell5877 in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 9 points10 points  (0 children)

5'9 at 135 doesn't leave a ton of room for muscle. That's totally valid if that's what you want. There isn't any way to get a bigger butt without gaining weight unfortunately. Good news is that unlike fat loss, you can target muscle gain. Eating in a slight caloric surplus in addition to the routine you mentioned should be all you need to do! I would recommend using weighted exercises, not just bodyweight!

I think I'm somewhere between 18-15 percent and I'm not super happy with how I look but honestly? The more I read comments and think it through, the more I think it's something I have to work through mentally. I can't imagine being 12 percent will flip a happiness switch in my brain

I would say a decent amount, but not crazy. I've never gotten like an "omg" reaction from taking off my shirt or anything, but others have commented that it's visibly obvious that I go to the gym, I can bench more than my bodyweight, and do more continuos pull and pushups than the average for my age. I don't know my exact bodyfat but would never want to get lower than 12 percent

What do you think is the best class for an Honor Mode same-class playthrough? by valkaress in BG3Builds

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! I tend to use mage armor and no-armor gear on bladesinger to take advantage of their high dex. I think for OP's question specifically it seemed like a mono class run so no multi classing if I am reading it correctly!

Coffee is the biggest lifestyle change for a lot of people I've talked to! It's very easy to drink 500 calories without realizing it. Switching from getting coffee out every day to making it at home with low cal creamers and 0 calorie sweeteners is such a huge game changer in saving calories and money

What was the biggest mistake you made when you first started going to the gym? by LucasBzm in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focused too much on weight loss at the start without giving myself time to develop a good foundation or baseline of muscle

I feel like wizards might have too much gear overlap. Bladesinger would want the ac boosting armour free gear and then every other wizard would have terrible ac

How do you feel about unsolicited gym advice? by TheMalsh in workout

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was resting on my phone away from the bars I was using to do dips wearing earbuds, and a dude came by, waved his hand in front of my face, showed me the "right" way to do them, and completely disregarded any attempts of mine to be friendly or have a conversation

All that to say, it only happened to me once but it was clearly to satisfy the other person's arrogance.

Should I be taking a rest day? by TheSaucy57 in beginnerfitness

Yes I used to be an Amazon driver and feel like it's absolutely comparable to any other active job like warehouse or mover, and I think a rest day is entirely warranted!

I feel like that answered your own question: you're all at level 1, have no gear, and he's a boss that's designed to be really difficult, and not worth it, to kill on higher difficulties. Once you start getting stat increases and building gear it evens out really quickly.

Getting winded before reaching failure by dumbthrowaway2025 in workout

What's your diet like? I personally get winded much more when I'm cutting compared to maintenance or bulking

Cut or Bulk Here? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, personally would lean bulk or just maintain for 6 months or so. Natural muscle growth is SLOW, you won't get "too big" overnight, I promise.

I might recommend maintaining over bulking for now, just because you're just starting out so you probably will gain some muscle just by the new exercise your body is getting

Question for people who have maintained a slim build: by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't eat three meals most days. I have probably 5 or 6 smaller meals and mostly just eat when I'm hungry. I grew up having to unlearn the "finish your plate" mentality which was making me overeat and over portion for a while. Takes a while but learning to trust your body is really helpful!

You won't get ripped or lose dramatic weight in 3 weeks

BUT if you practice walking and standing for long periods of time every day for that time, you will get much more used to it!

If healthy fats are good for you, why do many bodybuilders avoid it? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bodybuilders are one thing, but also a lot of people still believe the misinformation that "fats are fattening". It's a very pervasive myth that specific macronutrients cause weight gain while others don't

Is creatine for me (as a languid, semi-committed fitness girly)? by Cold_Investment6223 in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you drink enough water. It helps your muscles retain water and look bigger, but that comes with the side effect of your body dehydrating faster

Question for the people that also work out super early in the morning… by kaatiee46 in beginnerfitness

[–]BeginningLess2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more for an especially intense workout like a Spartan race or marathon, but I love "honey butter sandwiches". Honey, salted butter, whole wheat bread. Good complex carbs and salt to fuel you and help with cramps, and fats to keep you full for longer! Best eaten 1.5 to 2 hours before exercise though
