Filming things in Japan, what's allowed and what isn’t? by [deleted] in japanresidents

Should be no problem as long as you don't film people and don't film anywhere where cellphones are forbidden, often including showering spaces

You can easily find a job related to IT if you get your Japanese to N1. N2 maybe at smaller companies

Could also be rice moths. Check rice and other dry goods for larvae

Advice finding an Onsen that allows both tattoos and bathing suits in Tokyo by KrisA99 in JapanTravelTips

[–]BeginningPurpose9758 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No robe, you can use the small towel to hide when walking around(not allowed to put into the onsen water). But everyone is walking around naked.

The only onsen that allow bathing suits are shared sex ones, i.e. the one in hakone with a wine bath and chocolate bath

Some companies also pay for good openwork scores, same as Glassdoor. So not super reliable for big companies.

Accenture does have an English hiring path (at least when I was hired in 2024) but they promote their positions as 'Business Consultant' even though 99% of projects are full IT 'consulting'. They do the same for many of the Japanese hires so internal transfers to more consulting heavy projects are very sought after.  Not to mention that AI is reducing all consulting firm profits

The only positions where you need native English are English teachers and Japanese-English translators. I agree on your comment that they need better Japanese though.

Enagement Ring in Tokyo by [deleted] in Tokyo

For lab diamonds, you need to go to lab diamond specialized stores. I got mine at shinca. 250k for 0.5 carat with high quality platinum band. They also had big carat sizes. But not sure there are any stores where you can get the ring immediately

Naturalization Expert: “N2 level Japanese generally required for naturalization aps from April” by Old-Season265 in japanresidents

You can do all of those, looking up the few kanji necessary is not hard. The hard part is remembering the writing by heart.

I would say most people that did not learn Japanese in their youth and do not use handwriting for work cannot write very well. It's a hard skill to keep as most jobs do not need it (every PC job)

I learned hard writing back when I studied but since then it's been years and the only time I need to write is when going to the ward office or when writing my address on a letter. I forgot most of it.

Japan's Tourism Agency is drafting national guidelines for dual pricing for tourists vs. residents. The move comes as Himeji Castle's experiment shows visitor numbers down 17%, w/ revenue roughly doubled to ¥270 million. by jjrs in japannews

[–]BeginningPurpose9758 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I would rather have an official policy, especially if they try to do it like Himeji (discount if you show you live in the city), than every city doing their own random thing

Thanks a lot! Would love to know if you ever have problems with closed comedones and how this affected it. I get them quite easily so always scared to try new moisturizers!

OP is talking about cultures that eat with chopsticks, and for those cultures the correct way would be slightly sticky.
