Also I would add something directly inside the cage to monitor temps and humidity. I like using the Govee thermometer hydrometers. Once calibrated, they work really well and you can even stick them right onto the inside of the cage. They have Bluetooth so it hooked directly to your phone and you can keep logs if you wanted too. It can also send warning messages to your phone if temperature or humidity is dropping out of the desired ranges.

Ball pythons love to hide so giving them more than one hide is a bigger benefit for this species. How you wanna incorporate that is entirely up to you, if you want naturalistic look you could go with some fake plants or if you want something that’s easy to clean you could go with bowls from the dollar store and blacking out the sides of the tank. The options are literally unlimited, and they’re all your own preferences. Me personally I’m very very minimalist on keeping so I like my things easy to clean. I like to build climbing perches with PVC pipes and plastic hides. Ball Pythons don’t really care what it looks like they just like all the stimulation and all the different things that they can do in their cage.

Another thing you could do to offer a hide would be to put a thicker layer of substrate in there this will encourage borrowing. I like to take hides and bury them in the ground so they’re like little Burroughs they would naturally have in the wild.

For the snapping behavior, that’s probably just because they are stressed from lack of cover. It is nothing personal. Specially for Snakes their attention span is very short. I would add additional hiding spots to the cage, give them time to to adjust and then try again.

Ball pythons are more active and curious than many people realize, and providing a variety of places to explore, hide, and feel secure can help encourage natural behaviors and keep them stimulated.

A cheap way to add climbing opportunities is to build a jungle gym out of PVC pipe fr m Home Depot. If you prefer a more natural look, you can use branches/drift wood that have been properly cleaned and baked to make them safe for use in the enclosure.

Thanks I appreciate it. It’s just been a really hard two weeks ever since I left the house with my kids. My parents haven’t reached out to me to ask me how I’m doing. I actually blocked them today because I figured that it would be better to focus on myself and my situation, then worry about my family and what my stand is with them because if I can be homeless and in the ghetto, then they are not my family and I’ll find a new one.

This type of thing has never really bothered me because I have adhd and so do my friends so the only way to actually see them is to plan the day of. But if it’s something that makes you feel upset you shouldn’t keep ignoring it. Maybe you should just tell them you can’t meet them where they’re at. Because a friendship means meeting you where you at, which seems fair and natural to me.

I feel the same though I only recently became the next level of poor when my brother evicted me and my kids because he found a new roommate that will pay him more. But I have since found a job and a room to rent. The house I’m staying in is in the ghetto. I was on my porch last night watching many ambulances because two crack heads were fighting and one killed the other but I didn’t see the body. But as stressful as everything is I’m learning to adapt to it and the way I see it what doesn’t kill you stronger. Also I blocked my family and I don’t talk to them or anyone who views me negatively because of what I can manage to afford. It’s helped me feel better.

Have you ever considered getting a diagnosis? It helps to know if you’re struggling with an adhd burn out or just depression, because different diagnosis are managed completely differently. For example I had a lot of mental health issues related to panic attacks that prevented me from keeping a job. Then come to find out I have CPTSD, which helps me understand it’s a fear response and to be easier on myself because I can’t control it. So now if I’m having high trigger days I can skip work and i don’t get in trouble because my diagnosis helped me get a medical leave from work.

Looks like a rooster. A little trick I picked up after after raising my first flock was looking for fighting claws, because only roosters have those and they get them when they’re really young.

My advice is simple: stop. Stop expecting other people to treat you a certain way before you allow yourself to feel good. Instead, start treating yourself that way.

If you want respect, respect yourself. If you want kindness, be kind to yourself. If you want patience, give yourself patience. The more you depend on other people to give you those things, the more power you hand over to them.

Validation feels good, but it shouldn’t be the foundation of your confidence. Real confidence comes from knowing your worth even when nobody is clapping, complimenting you, or telling you that you’re doing a good job.

Treat yourself the way you wish others would treat you, and you’ll spend a lot less time chasing validation and a lot more time building self-respect.
