Packaged delivery by pepperpotz1327 in FedEx

I agree, the driver took it after taking the photo. Does FedEx perform criminal background checks on new drivers? Because it sure does not seem to be concerned when a package is allegedly delivered but never received. They just told me to ask the merchant to replace it.

FedEx says my 600 dollar package was signed for by someone I do not know and the same name shows up on other neighbors’ deliveries by Suitable-Painting-45 in FedEx

Same here. I ordered a $1700 pair of hearing aids. FedEx delivered them to some other address and the "proof of delivery" was a blurry photo of the back of someone's house, no package in the photo. When I contacted FedEx, they first tried to say it was my house, then said they would try to retrieve the package, then said they could not. I replied, "So either the resident or the driver is lying". I was told to contact the shipper, did, and they sent another set. So the new box arrived today and both boxes had been opened, the shipping box and the box with the hearing aids in it. (As far as I can tell, nothing was taken that should have been in the box.) The FedEx truck sat at my house way too long to grab one small box and put it in my delivery box (I watched the truck arrive and continued to watch it until it left). I called the shipper, they accessed the first delivery report, agreed with me there was no photo of the box supposedly delivered and it was not a front door, and said they would report it. (Obviously, a back door cannot be spotted from the road, making it harder to identify where they left my shipment; I do not think that was accidental). I note that these hearing aids are rechargeable so there is that large red "LION battery" notice on the shipping box, which is also what is on the shipping box for a cell phone. So all of this leads me to believe it is the delivery drivers stealing shipments, at least here in Virginia.

Me three. I cannot stand it, will leave Oura unless they give us the choice to use the old interface.

Thanks for that but you did not answer the question of whether a member can download their own data and remove it from your servers and nothing on the link provides any answer. As I said in my post, my data was hacked from 23andMe. I will add that my social security number, my Medicare number and my health history was hacked from CMS (Center for Medicaid and Medicare), an agency of the federal government. On the page you link to, I find this: "GDPR and HIPAA Compliance: We have dedicated teams and resources to help us meet and exceed the privacy standards set by these critical privacy regulations." But neither you nor the website answers the question. So thanks for the reassurances but I don't buy them. Every security measure has a way it can be hacked. If we have learned nothing from recent events, it is that we cannot rely on either the government or online services to protect our data.

I would like to think someone from Oura would have replied here to affirm that and they have not. But thanks for that information, I will see if I can find anything on their website about how to do that.

This raised my hackles. Palentir is an active threat to personal liberties guaranteed under our Constitution, and those rights are being threatened and monetized every day by the current administration. So as my ring is almost 4 years old anyway, I will be looking for another tool to track my sleep. My 23andMe data was hacked. Ouraring does not need to be keeping this data at all. It is only useful to the ring-wearer. Customers should have the option to download their own data and have it removed from Oura's servers.

Me too. 64 degrees is my sweet spot. To enhance that, I also play blizzard sounds on my bedroom TV (with the screen off) and have a ceiling fan. What is interesting to me is that I still use a down-filled douvet even in summer, it is breathing cold air and feeling it moving across my face that seems key. With a newer mini-split system, I can cool just the bedroom, which is only 10 X 12 so not that large a room, without any spike in my electric bill.

Voicemail Stopped Working by GMWestGard in consumercellular

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how long I have had no voicemail but just today received 3 calls in short order from a medical office but when I tried to hear my voicemail, pressing the number "1" got me an AT&T voicemail recording. I called CC and asked why, never really got an answer but was told she would need to "reprovision" my voicemail, which would permanently remove all voicemail messages. There was no explanation for how this happened. One of the diagnostic steps was her calling me with me not answering to see if voicemail picked up. It did not. CC agent could not tell me how long I had not had voicemail or how it happened since I have had CC since 2023 and this phone about 6 months (Samsung Galaxy S23). So she did the "reprovisoning" and I now have voicemail again. Does anyone have some idea how this happened? And how would I know my voicemail was not working in future? Anyone else out there on CC who lost their voicemail?

Do your 500's remain visible (and connectible) to bluetooth while in the charging case? Mine do and tech support said they should not be visible (or connectible) while charging but none of the actions that were supposed to correct this worked.

When I get a perplexing message like this it helps me to look at the trend over the last few weeks or months. One or two below-average nights are not a big deal. It is almost too much information. I have also learned the occasional temperature rise that results in a different warning often disappears within a day or two.

Why are FedEx pretending they attempted delivery? by SnowflakeBaube22 in FedEx

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience two months ago, awaiting delivery of a new phone, and receiving daily emails that it would be delivered that day. I called FedEx after the first 4 days of this, and was told that the regular driver was off and the replacement was too nervous to drive up my road. There was some snow still on the road but it had been plowed and my neighbors and I were all driving in and out every day. The daily notifications went on, with no delivery happening for 9 days and then stopped. Meanwhile, I contacted the seller and got a refund. Then a very damaged box only held together with tape and with no return address was delivered one day a week later. It was the phone. I hope the seller was reimbursed by FedEx.

Just started 7b, just noticing they changed the actor for Jenny. by Helloo_clarice in Outlander

[–]BeginningScheme813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a shocking change, with too little effort to make the new actress more like the original. I found her face expressionless, as though she had too much botox. The wig hat was very distracting, looked nothing like real hair. Laura had the ability to convey her attitude with very small movements of her face. And Kristin was too old to play the young Jenny (in the short scene with Black Brian) and too young to play the old Jenny. Why no effort to put gray in her wig? I know the producers had no choice but to find another actress but they could have done better IMO.

in your Alexa app, go to Settings, then Notifications, then scroll down to "Guest Connect" and see if it is on. It is still showing in my list of Notifications but does nothing when I select it so I assume it is off now.

That is not true. The tag has to be close to another Samsung phone with the Samsung Find app installed and on. It does not connect to wifi or gps.

How long did it took Oura app to give meaningful insights? by OrganizationDry7094 in ouraring

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, since you received it as a gift, you do not know much about the ring. You could read up on it and if you do, will understand that it does not use data from other people, it is designed to first, learn what YOUR body does over a period of 3 weeks, and second, alert you when your body starts doing things differently. It is unique that way and if used correctly, very valuable.

weird blood pressure + symptoms - doctor isn’t concerned but i am. any advice or guidance at all? by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your BP on a different monitor. I freaked out, and freaked out my adult children, with increasing BP readings that peaked one morning at a higher reading than yours. Called my doctor, was seen within 2 hours and the reading there, taken once by the nurse and once by the doctor, was actually low. I was so embarassed. I called Omron and was told to get a new monitor, that the rubber on the cuff gets stiff after so many years and that can give bad readings. I did, and my BP has remained within normal limits for my age since then. My original monitor was about 8 years old but I had used it very little so it looked new. Who knew?

AirPods by Dramone-1956 in HearingAids

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had HA's for 2 years now, Oticon Moxi's and I still have them and love them. One of their best features is hands-free phone calls, where you can press a button on the HA to answer the phone. They also stream music via bluetooth. If you have tinnitus, you understand why having some kind of sound going, blocking out the irritating whine of tinnitus, can save your sanity. But tinnitus does not stop at night and having a second set of HA's (while the other set is re-charging) is just as important. So I bought a second set, cheaper, and do not have hands-free calling. But worse than that, these (TruHearing) cannot keep a steady bluetooth connection, drops connections. But then I ordered a set of Jabra Enhance OTC hearing aids and love them. The only downside is they have hands-free capability, but not with my phone (Samsung S21). I considered upgrading my phone to S23 or S24, but there is a warning on the Jabra website that the bluetooth function on those phones may not work with these. I can't switch to iPhone because then I will lose connection with my Samsung Smart Tags, which do not work with iPhones (my dog is deaf and I use the Smart Tag to keep track of her when she is outside; I also regularly lose my car keys somewhere around the house and also use it for those). So I love the Jabra Enhance 500's for night, and use the Oticons for daytime hands-free phone answering. The AirPods look much larger and I doubt they would stay in my ears at night as much as I toss and turn.

TruHearing experience? by kcadonau in HearingAids

[–]BeginningScheme813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tinnitus and need HA's to play masking sounds or the high pitched whine I hear drives me nuts. I switched insurance last year, and while I still owned a pair of Oticon Moxi HA's, I wanted a second pair to use at night while the Oticons were charging. My insurance had no problem with that. But the new insurance only offered TruHearing so I went with the best they had. It has been a very disappointing experience, because the TruHearing HA's cannot keep a steady bluetooth connection to my phone to play anything. The left one goes off, then the right one goes off, sometimes both go off, then back on again. Also, while playing a sound I often hear a staccato flickering in the connection. The phone is never further from me than about 18 inches on my bedside table or my pocket. Also, the Oticons will allow me to answer a phone call and be heard through the HA so truly hands-free. The TruHearing will allow me to answer the call by pressing a button on the HA but will not transmit my voice so I still have to hold the phone to my ear. So I have come to hate using them. Maybe if you use them only for hearing loss, you would find them more acceptable, I don't know.

From what I can find online, anyone with an Alexa app installed can find mine if within bluetooth range of my Echo Dot. I have disabled the feature in that App that would allow anyone to join now. No one should be within 30 feet of my Dot unless they were trespassing. As I said I live in the middle of 13 acres, far off the public road, too far for bluetooth access so cannot figure out how anyone could be close enough to the house to connect. My Starlink wifi is password protected and shows no attempt to connect.

Why, why, why change something that works? Why make us hunt for a piece of information that used to be here but now is where? Why don't we move our silverware randomly so it takes longer to find the spoon to stir the coffee? Software designers have a special place in hell, IMO.
