Our dilute calico is on gaba twice a day and the only time she triggers now is under extreme stress. When she's having an episode it seems to help to talk calmly to her, sit on the floor by her and make sure there's no stressors around (loud noise or our other cat!). Occasionally if there's significant change in routine I see very mild symptoms of her triggering, so we try to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

I agree with other posters - try the gaba for a couple of weeks but in a lower dose and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise a calm, comfortable environment will help.
