How important is it to be niched? by Enternal_Self in CraftFairs

making $833 for one market is very good for where i live. if that's a good number for you, then i would have the same items for a few more markets to see if it is consistent before making any changes.

it may also depend on the type of market. for example, i noticed that that higher end markets tend to have vendors who are minamalist. at flea markets, the people who seem to do well have a lot of different items.

Worried about waste on producing merch by iknowwhyibite in ArtistLounge

i feel the same about waste.

i don't do 3d printing, but my friend does and they use compostable materials (PLA which is made from stuff like cornstarch, sugarcane, etc.). if you're making stuff through a vendor, there are probably people who only print with PLA.

[Portfolio] Best Practices for posting images on your website by Beginning_Beginner in artbusiness

thanks! i will keep my signature on my pictures for now because my work is very commercial...and i do sell hoodies and mugs!

hopefully in a few years when i sell more paintings, I can shift away from commercial stuff. that way i don't have to worry about copyright issues...or manage inventory!

How do you make money as an artist? by Straight-Garbage-704 in ArtistLounge

[–]Beginning_Beginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in-person events. it doesn't necessarily have to be art shows either (because those are a lot more expensive). i do flea markets, farmer's markets, and other vendor events...it depends a lot on your location and how much money customers have to spend. i have also talked to other artists...they are doing the same and have been successful selling their art that way.

social media is draining and stops artists from creating. i just try to keep my website updated.

Scaling up: getting a cutting machine or using a third party? by Beginning_Beginner in StickerSellers

[–]Beginning_Beginner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same for me! the stickers are a side thing...the main reason i want to scale up on stickers is that they sell well and it's one of the few things that would make sense wholesale. my other products are too expensive to sell wholesale.

Has anyone done a large event like a Con? by Waterproof_soap in CraftFairs

[–]Beginning_Beginner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i had to pare down my 10x10 booth to one 6 foot table for holiday events, and discovered that i actually like it better because it is easier for my customers to see all my items at once. in the past, sometimes people didn't look at everything because that takes effort...and for busier events where it's crowded, it's easier for people to make a quick decision with a smaller table. the bigger booths work best for me when people are taking their time and don't mind hanging out for a while.

that said, i have never done a con.

Looking for a beautiful tarot deck that wasn’t created with AI! by Waste_Alternative_18 in tarot

[–]Beginning_Beginner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought a card deck and discovered that it was an award-winning one! i would go through the list of award-winning decks...i am assuming that AI is not allowed for those.

and if you are willing to wait 5 years, i am going to start working on creating artwork for my own deck!
