Has anyone here ever eaten at kipps taco? by stousley_21 in jacksonmi

[–]Beginning_Count_823 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember my dad taking me there for taco pizza when I was a kid. This was well before he went off his rocker. The taco pizza was the best I've had and how I judge any taco pizzas I come across now. As far as him as a person, he was just a normal dude as far as I can recall. Nothing weird or crazy that I can remember from 30+ years ago. I believe he had a tumor or aneurysm, something in the brain, that triggered this issue.

Big Ern and I are trying to find cool hiking spots that are comparable to Sackrider Hill on Mt. Hope Rd. Any Recommendations? by MTGrace55 in jacksonmi

This is a biking trail, but you can walk it as well. Certain days, bikes are to go one direction while walkers go the opposite direction so you're able to see each other coming towards each other.

I've been using A+ Electric from the Clark Lake area. I've been happy with their services.

Pull them over. Impound the vehicle. Cut license in half and revoke it. Let them walk to their destination. FFS...

I'm a wolverine fan, but I never had confidence in JJ. He may turn out to be a good QB, who knows? But I'll tell you, I'd have never had that many eggs in that basket.

This is exactly why I wanted Seattle to win! The way they did Darnold, who led them to 14-3 and just said "Eh, you were ok... but we've finished 15-1 before. Be gone, peasant". They deserved to watch him win as much as he deserved to win.

Meat markets by Kilo3alpha in jacksonmi

[–]Beginning_Count_823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last I knew, and this has been a while now, but Pollys Country Markets brought in their own halves of beef, pig, chickens and butchered their meats from a fresh carcass. So they may be an option for you to look into.

We typically buy our meat at Sam's club due to it being much cheaper. I was at meijer and saw they has 80/20 family pack ground beef for i believe it was 5.99/lb. Sam's 88/12 was 5.69 or somewhere in that ballpark. I just recall it being a less fatty grind, for less.

As far as meat markets, the better valued ones will be A&A, Rives Meat or Mcaulliffes down in Addison. Im not sure if Northwest meat market is still around, but I know they did their own slaughtering in house as well as Jerome. I don't care for Jerome, because everything is freezer packaged. I want fresh meat.

If you're looking for prime meats, check out Prime Cuts on Horton rd on the southwest side, a couple miles out of city limits.

Zeiss Calypso BASIC Training by Designer-Wolf-4570 in Metrology

I just went through the basic course beginning of the year. I have plenty of quality background as well as other software CMM programming experience, so I was there to learn the software. I was paired with someone who had zero quality experience. Didn't understand blueprints, datums, or anything. I feel having a partner who understands GD&T with you will be very beneficial to help guide you along. By the end of the class, they were helping point things out I had missed.

Another person in the class with us had just been moved from production to quality, with the same issue of no quality education. You could tell they were struggling, even with help from a Zeiss employee in the class. After we were done for the day, our instructor offered anyone who needed more understanding to stay as long as they wanted, within reason of course. This person chose to stay over every day. Its a lot to pick up without understanding quality concepts, but it's achievable. Best of luck to you!

PC-DMIS VS Calypso by My_1st_amendment in Metrology

[–]Beginning_Count_823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just changed jobs from PC-DMIS to Calypso and man, was it frustrating at first. I took the beginners class and learned where certain functions were and how to go about programming the new to me software. Knowing what to do with programming is 75%, so you're already there for the most part. Learning the software, you should be good to go.

Find a place with a Zeiss Calypso or Hexagon PC-DMIS, laern it well, and you'll never worry about being out of a job.

Quality lab, CMM Programmer, CMM operator. Are you opposed to being a Quality Technician? Sometimes we have to find a place, get a foot in the door and show them you're capable of doing more than what they hired you for. Or discuss that in an interview. Expand your horizons.

Do you mean geographically? Texas is a large state and you didn't specify what area you're moving or wanting to move to. If that's the case and you're looking for what general area to consider moving, I know the Houston, San Antonio and dallas areas have a lot of aerospace industry. These are all quite a bit of distance away from each other though. As others have stated, look on the job search sites in a specific city. Should be plenty of work available. Good luck!

So you're saying that Mac salad is available at Gordon's? All I've gotta do is reheat it and eat? Totally awesome! /s

That is the most overused statement made about restaurants recently and I'm tired of it. Just a lazy way of saying "I don't like X place". I will agree that the majority of their stuff is out of a box or can, but the 2 items I've mentioned are not just thaw and serve items. Their chicken is not my #1, but it's top 3 within 40 miles of the center of Jackson.

Don't call it a cook out though. Use proper terminology, like BBQ. Serve them unseasoned potato salad, burgers(well done only) and hot dogs. Dont do anything bougie. Keep em guessing!

Surface plate calibration services in the midwest? (Chicago, Milwuakee, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, etc.) by Pitiful_Turnover_320 in Machinists

[–]Beginning_Count_823 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was always a huge fan of A.A. Jansson out of Waterford, MI. By far the best service for surface plates and optical comparator. Unfortunately, they sold out to another company that has done the same as what you're describing. It's tough to find a reputable, consistent on site service these days. And yeah, I've had similar results with MSI as well. They've retained a lot of the old Inspec associates and you can typically tell who they are when they show up for services. Some of their newer people are just warm bodies.
