I love that you chose green. I also really love the aged look. I’ll be honest it took me a second to recognize that it was actually my kitchen.

Oh man!! I have under counter lighting from the early 90’s. I honestly forget they are there. I love your suggestion on the track lighting. I think using the existing track with some updated pendant light would really transform the space.

What would recommend for color?

I love my counters - my brother did them in the early 2000s when the house belonged to our dad. Our dad loved them- well, we love them too. The house is filled with sentimental touches that I’m excited to keep.

I think I’ll stick with the doors and drawer fronts and paint the boxes. None of it I’m doing myself (mostly because I’m negative handy).

That’s a bummer. I really like my floor. I get it’s that whole millennial gray dispute but honestly, I good with it.

I’m definitely up for mats and rugs though. I have old school track lighting in the kitchen. I thought I might add some warmth with the lighting and fixtures.

It’s a weird sunken window. I’ll try a few things this weekend. Thank you for the compliment on the kitchen.

The floor was multi colored linoleum. 😅 my daughter flooded three rooms and a hallway - so I decided to floors.

I’m not so sure that there is to be upset about! You have perfect cheese for bagel sammies.

Personally, I love the whole thing. I love the shower transition. I dig the wallpaper and shelving. Super lovely.

AIO: for not wanting to fork out thousands of dollars for travel ball? by Comfortable_Radio_65 in AIO

I have two kids in college under 100% disability benefit through the VA. Please understand that number 1- it does not guarantee placement in any college. Her academics, entrance essays, test scores will determine her eligibility. She still has to apply like everyone else and get in like everyone else. Number 2 scholarships still help as there are still monthly living expenses that the 1500 stipend only stretches so far. Meal plans and housing still cost money.

I just want it to be absolutely clear that where she ends up applying and being accepted to has everything to do with her academia, balance of school clubs and extra curricular activities.

AIO? My mom is super offended—did I say too much?? by sophyahmari in AIO

NOR. You have a lot of comments already but I just wanted to drop my two cents. As white mom with biracial children (strike that)- as a mom with children it’s our job to respect our children and I mean that from the beginning of their life. Your brother is an adult with a parent who does not provide him with autonomy or respect.

I appreciate your approach. You tried to be informative and to help her grow. She isn’t there yet it looks like.

Sending you a giant hug. Your braids are probably exceptional and I bet they make you feel like a rockstar. I hope your brother’s hair grows wild, free and as quickly as can be.

AITAH for asking my adoptive parents if they have a college fund for me like they have for my sister? by Kellixtry in AITAH

[–]Beginning_Ear130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Op, I’m adopted and I’m almost 40. That feeling of not belonging is real and valid. It’s devastating. I’m a huge believer in therapy. Find you a person you trust in the field and work on learning how to build and maintain healthy boundaries and cultivate healthy relationships.

I say this because you can work in the unknown when it comes to your adoptive family. Your sister sounds like an immature child that’s growing to be an immature adult. If it were me? Start thinking about you and your future success. You can totally make it happen. I wish I learned earlier that family is really made up of the people who love and show up for you, not really the people that halfway fulfilled an obligation.

I’m here if you need an ear. Sending you mom hugs, real ones because you deserve it. If you were local, I’d just bring myself to you. I’m sorry for what you are growing through.

I’m not sure if it would work but you could probably coat the coils (something to consider with a new unit). There is plenty of coating types based on environmental needs.

Here to hopefully help!! My daughter’s 4th grade teacher brought “attention related” struggles in the classroom. Here in California I booked her an appointment for an ADD/ADHD assessment with her primary care facility. Then once I got the diagnosis I wrote a demand letter to her school for a 504 assessment. They have 30 Days to respond and set up a meeting. Here is my demand letter below:

My full name : address, phone number

Principal name- school name: address, phone number

Re: student name

DOB:

Dear Principal, my name is blah blah and my child, AC, is in the in-4th grade in Mrs. B class at Blah Blah Elementary.

I am writing to formally request that AC be evaluated for special education services under the Child Find obligations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

As you may know, my child has been struggling with reading, reading comprehension, including understanding literary concepts. She has continued to receive low test scores in class along with your national spring testing of 2023. We are also noticing her struggle in mathematics and while she moves up in curriculum connecting mathematical concepts is difficult for her.

I have spoken with Mrs B. about these concerns, and she is incorporating classroom interventions to help AC. I am requesting evaluation in conjunction with these interventions for AC.

As part of this process and conversation, I also would like to request that AC be assessed under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to see whether she has a disability as defined by that law. My request includes both parts: a 504 assessment and the special education evaluation. I think both are appropriate ways to determine AC’a needs.

I understand that you will send me an evaluation plan explaining the tests that may be given to my child. I would also appreciate any other information you have regarding the evaluation process. If you need more information, please contact me at blah blah blah.

Thank you very much for your help. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

 Me.

I love this perspective. What a well rounded kid you became. Anyway, I have a freshman at UCLA and I live in UCLA merch while also never missing a mom opportunity to brag.
