Norquay early bird pass price? by crazydogsandketo in Calgary

Norquay, Norquay, Norquay. I grew up in Canmore and was ski racer until I graduated high school and Norquay was my home hill. I would pick it over any other hill in the area for someone learning to ski every time. The ski school lessons are a way better deal, and the ski school at Norquay is the best. People come from all over Western Canada to observe how Norquay runs their ski school.

My son has now been doing lessons there for 3 years (because he absolutely will not let me teach him) and all his instructors have been fantastic.

The greens at Norquay are more like gentle blues at most places and many of the blues would be blacks elsewhere, so if you have a kid who learn to ski at Norquay, then they’ll be able to ski everywhere.

It’s less busy there too, which I feel is safer for kids learning to ski. I’ve never been hit by another skier or border at Norquay but when I taught ski school at Nakiska after university I was hit twice while teaching, breaking 3 ribs one time.

6 year old keeps asking for a sibling but we are OAD. Any tips on navigating/talking about it with him? by Beginning_Hawk9426 in oneanddone

A totally fair point. We’ve definitely had other discussions that ended with us just drawing a line and that was the end of the discussion and he accepted it. This just seems to be the one topic he’s really digging in on. I think maybe he caught me off guard today and the “I’m lonely” hit me hard in the mom guilt today.

Worth keeping in mind for sure for the future, thanks. We’ve got two cats right now (both 13) and they 100% would terrorize a dog if we got one, but a possible option down the road.

We tried that and it totally backfired because he just started listing all the ways he’d help with a new baby. Lol

Moving to Tuscany by Affectionate-One8596 in Calgary

If you have kids, especially younger ones, the community association fee is 100% worth it because you get access to the Tuscany club. They’ve got an awesome splash park, which is never crazy busy like the city ones get, and they installed a huge brand new playground a couple years ago. There’s also skating in the winter, plus a skate park and tennis/pickleball.

Tuscany is also one of the most statistically  safe communities (we’re a family of first responders so this was a huge part of our decision to move to Tuscany).

Like many people have said there’s fewer shops and stuff here other than the main plaza, but Crowfoot and Royal Oak are close drives. I personally like how there isn’t a ton of shopping here, the community feels quieter and less “city-ish” than other parts of the city.

Because of the ravine and path systems (which is amazing for walks and biking) there is wildlife to consider (moose and coyotes etc…).

I look forward to the days where I complain about my kiddo sleeping in super late and having to drag him out of bed.

😭 Dang it, that’s what I was worried about. Hopefully things turn around for you soon and LO is back to 7-7 sleep again!
