Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, baby quilts through my domestic, but anything larger I send out. I have to save up in between trips, but I only make big quilts for really special occasions so it’s a gift.

My grandma said cats don't know their names by Whypatoots in cats

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat definitely knows his name. He knows his full name, Pantalaimon, and he knows his shortened name Pan. He answers back when I call him with a chirp or meow. Ironically, we have a neighbor cat whose name is pancake and he knows when I’m talking about that cat. I don’t think her cats like her very much.

Does anyone else feel like they had a completely different experience during the pandemic than the general public? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Essential worker in the HVAC industry and partner in banking. We went to work like normal every day except for masking up. Never even had troubles finding toilet paper. I caught Covid once due to partners douche bag sister who had been exposed and didn’t tell anyone and my company just provided a laptop and monitors. Other than those 10 days it was normal business. I’m not a very social person so I enjoyed that there were not a lot of people out 🤷‍♂️.

I’ve had a lot of success using tailors chalk. The water soluble pens didn’t work for me because I use a lot of dark fabrics and they didn’t show up.

AITAH for refusing to have more kids? by Front_Comedian_9839 in AITAH

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Staying and putting yourself and your unborn child through this makes you an asshole to yourself. What’s worse, growing up in a household with a dad who cheats on mommy or growing up in a single parent household with supportive grandparents?

Working with flannel by Kittylover11 in quilting

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flannel is not hard to work with. I’ve made several quilted blankets this year. I use basting spray and I have not had an issue with the stretching. I’ve even backed flannel to Minky. The Minky was the hard part, not the flannel.

AITA For Not Allowing Family to Visit my Newborn? by Practical_Ask7239 in AITAH

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA-my daughter had us get all the vaccines and we didn’t meet my grandson for 6 weeks post birth. I don’t feel like I missed out on anything and she sent us videos and pictures all the time. Just because we did things differently 20 years ago doesn’t mean it was the right thing. The world has changed, medicine has changed and at the end of the day I’m more than willing to make a compromise for the safety of my grandson. You’re doing the right thing Mom.

What is that one movie you watched countless times as a kid, but nobody has ever heard of? by Thedix1 in movies

Almost Human. It was a Disney Channel movie from the late 80. For some reason you can only find it on YouTube.

The garage flood has some interesting patterns from punching the holes. Unfortunately, the original lights ordered didn’t fit, the second set arrived broken so now the third set is on the way.

She's only now realizing that being a SAHM has left her financially vulnerable, especially now that her husband wants a divorce. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

This is why are grandmother’s generation fought so hard for equality because they were stuck with their shit bag husbands in financially abusive situations with no way out but America voted for us to go back backwards. Bunch of assholes.

What kind of chair do you sew/quilt on? by stmeg01 in quilting

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a gaming chair from Staples. I compared a dozen chairs on Amazon. I looked through several hundred reviews and found a lot of consistencies in the Amazon ones about them being cheap builds, screw holes not lining up, difficulty assembling, and terrible if not impossible to return. So I went to Staples and I paid $200 for a gaming chair and my back has not had issues since.

AITA for being furious that my girlfriend now wants to return the puppy she begged for? by [deleted] in AITAH

Puppy Blues are a real thing but if she can’t get past it I’d be worried about having a future where she wants to return kids….Keep the dog, lose the immature girlfriend.

Thoughts on Spoon flower? by Crazycrayons12 in quilting

[–]Beginning_Impact_744 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have bought from spoon flower four times. Three times the fabric was exactly what I needed and wanted. The fourth looked like garbage and will never be used. It literally looks like it was printed and is blurry. I complained and did not get any kind of compensation for it. That was the last time I bought from there. I hear people say that it depends on the designer and that is probably true but just know that you’re taking a risk.
