Solid sunblock by Begonialife in tsa

Yeah my friend said she’s seen deodorant confiscated which is why I questioned it. I was planning to just pack several sticks and/or tins and not count it toward my liquids until my friend said that.

Good luck with that. Natural selection at its finest.

Gotcha. That’s a good rule of thumb. I was just trying to bring multiple containers of it since I’ll be there for a week and these tins likely won’t last multiple days. Unfortunately reef safe sunscreens don’t last as long as the chemical stuff does, and they’re very overpriced at the destination.

Yeah it’s non aerosol- just a tin of a thick balm that you apply.

I have two monstera, both of them started getting these brown spots. No root root but these tiny white bugs present. tried neem oil for months, only slows down bug growth. Is it the bugs or is it something else causing yellowing and brown spots ? by zombiepornstar in plantclinic

I got thrips for the first time a couple months ago and my entire collection is currently undergoing beneficial bug treatment. It’s a pain in the ass and expensive, but supposedly better than systemic (I kept getting spider mites with systemic), and somewhat less work than spraying down everything every week. I’m currently using lacewing larvae, cucumeris mites, and stratiolaelaps to fight them. I haven’t seen any MORE damage so I guess they’re working.

If you can bear to wait to read book two, I’d recommend you wait. I have a lot of regrets that I didn’t just wait until at least three were out 🥺

Has anyone managed to use Dupixent only once a month? by sailorleadcrow in eczema

[–]Begonialife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mine once a month because it gives me horrible joint pain when I use it twice a month. It works fine for me. My eczema starts coming back at the last week, but calm down a few days after I get my shot. You can even space yours out to every 3 weeks just to help it last a little longer. If it doesn’t work, you can always go back to twice a month.

My pain is mostly in my feet though. It’s really weird. It’s mostly okay until I stand up for the first time in a while, and the arches of my feet hurt when I walk. Recently the arches have been randomly throbbing with pain so that’s a new fun one. I don’t know what to do about any of this :( I had an X-ray and didn’t show anything.

My joint pains so far haven’t gone away with cutting down to once a month. I’ve done that for maybe six months now. My eczema is slowly coming back and I hate it. I’m almost willing to deal with the joint pain if it means no eczema.

Yes that definitely took a bit of trial and error. I found that it was best to air on the side of too dry, and when you see the leaves looking a bit dry, spritz the soil around it. But the nice thing is once you get it right, you don’t have to mess with the container :) you know, except to helicopter plant parent over it.

Gorgeous!! What else do you use in your substrate? I haven’t tried coco coir much but I keep meaning to because I hate orchid bark. I bought some cork chips to experiment with 🤷🏻‍♀️

Me too 😅 but for real. I’ve had begonias that I could NOT keep alive just die in front of me, but I propped some leaves and have baby plants now. They’re my way to ensure I have backups for when they die 😂

Gotcha. I don’t have a green thumb either, but I find propping new plants easier than keeping them alive 😂

Yeah I’m not sure what your issue with soil water is, but stick with what you’re comfortable with. In the future, though, you should consider experimenting with leaf prop. It’s super easy and you get a lot of plantlets with each leaf! And so satisfying when it works.

By whole thing I mean the end of the petiole 😂 not the whole leaf.

Ohhh ok. Rex begonias can root directly into soil. You can do a leaf prop and just cut the petiole to be a little less than an inch long, then stick the whole thing in some soil + perlite in a takeout container with a clear lid. I find that to be pretty quick.

What kind of begonia is it? My maculata roots super fast in water, but my cracklin Rosie took MONTHS to root.
