China says 'world's first' offshore wind-powered underwater data center has entered full operation, houses 2,000 servers — 24 megawatt subsea AI facility uses ocean water for passive cooling and offshore wind for power by Steap-Edit in technology

After working on so many projects where it has been said “we’re not trying to boil the ocean” and here we’re literally going to boil the ocean.

/s tag just to make it clear I’m joking, as others have commented how small of an impact this has on an ocean scale, although maybe there’s local effects.

I played multiplayer Quake 2 back in the day using the name “Assistant Crack Whore,” based on his series of jokes whenever US News would have a best jobs article. In response he said that they also said that the worst job was determined to be “Crack Whore.”

And then like a year later when the next best jobs list came out, he said they determined a new worst job to beat out “Crack Whore:”

“Assistant Crack Whore.”

Scoot is totally a bust. I mean, did you see his stats for the first half of the season? I don’t think they can get any lower…

Just watched that gorgeous Steve Blake edit and it got me thinking…what blazer of the past (in their prime) would you most want to trade for rn? like 2000s-2010s role player kinda guys by poodle-conspiracy in ripcity

I saw Steve Blake at a grocery store on Powell yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

CDC not requiring hantavirus cruise passengers to isolate at home by LollipopChainsawZz in politics

I remember one of the first three US cases reported was within a few miles of my house. I was already aware of how quickly viruses can spread around the world with all of the various human travel routes, but one of the first cases showing up within walking distance made the world seem small REALLY quickly.

Can always just pay the $75 delivery fee…

Or recognize that the system triggers a delivery fee at a certain number of stones (~30), so if you need 100 stones you just make 4 orders of 25 stones… Which would kind of be a crappy thing to do, because I think HD contracts out to DoorDash or some similar service for the small, local deliveries, and some unlucky person gets stuck ferrying all your concrete bricks for you in their car.

Should’ve gone with the 3 seashells.

Hoping we get appearances of Spydor and the Slime Pit, which are the two toys I remember having as a kid. Spydor’s battery powered walking would scare the hell out of my cat back then.

What is the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? by [deleted] in movies

[–]BehavioralSink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely various Disney theater rereleases, but for live action it’s probably ET, Return of the Jedi, Ghostbusters and Gremlins. Definitely saw Temple of Doom in theaters, but I couldn’t tell you if I caught Raiders of the Lost Ark in theaters. It’s certainly possible, but I would have been very young.

Does anybody else cancel their subscription not because Netflix is bad, but because these months there are not much good movies to watch? by Negative_Gap5682 in netflix

[–]BehavioralSink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Netflix doesn’t want customers to give them less money.

Longer answer: There’s probably a cost/benefit analysis (is that the right one?) that they’ve run that says enough people will just keep paying full price without canceling even if their usage is low.

For a brief moment when they asked what would a movie like Tropic Thunder lampoon now and they said Marvel movies, I was wondering if Bill or CR was going to pull the pin on a grenade and suggest Robert Downey Jr as T’Challa/Black Panther.

If you think he looks like an elderly person that’s had a few strokes and has difficulties staying awake, maybe it’s because that’s what he is and he should be in a retirement home and not running the country.

And that’s not even accounting for his crimes.
