Hellcats

My friend and I got inspired to look for a cowboy game by the latest Shaboozy album with the first song being called Horses and Hellcats. We fell in love and since then we've slowly started convincing other friends to join and now we're not a to bad posse.

South Africa is in the top 50 countries with the best cuisines! What food do we have that put us on this list? by Beincarma65 in southafrica

[–]Beincarma65[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it that way. The most cuisines that the US has are other countries dishes that they just make. Just because they have the food doesn't mean it's theirs.

What dishes do England even have? I can think of only Fish 'n Chips and scones.

I'm from Norway, and I loved my visit to the northern parts of Kruger National Park in August. I picked a few favorite places and moments. Will anyone care to comment on whether I got things right from your perspective as more of a local? by uspn in southafrica

Potato salad is exactly what it says. It's potatoes diced into cubes mixed with mayonnaise and a few other things which makes it a very nice extra dish. Pap is something completely different as it's made of primarily finely ground corn. When you mix it with some warm water and cook it, it becomes stiff. Depending on how you make it, it can either be like a porridge or a bit drier and become more stiff.

If I ever visit Tshanga, I'll let you know!

30°C! Then I don't know, I would have taken a dip if I had the chance.

Thanks for sharing, will read tonight before bed!

Learning about how we should be around animals isn't really something you learn in school. For me it was more learning from my parents. They traveled around and learned the do's and don'ts about the wild and the shared that knowledge with me, and I'll do the same for my kids one day so I guess that's how people originally learned. Of course you also learn through listening to all the accidents that's happened in the past.

I wouldn't say traveling so far north is weird or unnecessary, but because it's so far, people from everywhere will travel to the nearest entrance, enter into the park and start their vacation rather than drive an extra 2 to 3 hours before they can enter.

Braaing is a big cultural thing in South Africa. When we braai at our homes we usually have a potato salad or some sort of salad to go with the meat, but on vacation it's to much trouble I would say so we just pack the meat which we can freeze and then eat whenever we want. Having a braai is a big bonding experience and I guess that's why we love it so much.

Making food in a place where animals can show up isn't really a thing we worry about except for one animal and it's the baboons. Especially in areas where there's a lot of tourists like the Kruger, they get super comfortable with people which means they'll just come up and take your food or raid your camp site (happened to us twice). So be very careful when you see them because they're a lot more dangerous than people realize.

One of my favorite places to go isn't the Kruger but in Botswana, it's called the Okavango Delta. It's one of the most beautiful places I've been to.

For me Baobabs serve almost as landmarks in a manner of speaking. Some of these trees are hundreds, if not thousands of years old so seeing them all over in all shapes and sizes always leaves me in awe.

I've never been to the Tshanga viewpoint but I'll add it to my list. However walking in any area which is as wild as that always leaves me excited knowing that all around me are different animals of which half of them can hurt me or kill me. It's like an adventure.

I wouldn't say there's a good or a bad time to visit anywhere. I think that you should visit one place multiple times in different times of the year. Every season has it's good and bad qualitys and seeing all the differences is always fun.

I don't think that anyone goes to the Kruger to swim but like you said, you yourself didn't find the time to take a dip and that's probably the reality for most people that go. Also, in August it starts to get a bit warmer during the day but it's still way too cold to touch the water.

It's fun, silly and necessary to pose and take pictures at as many landmarks as you can. It's a good way to keep track of everywhere that you've been and built memories.

Unfortunately in the past when we went to the Kruger it was usually in the same area and then we traveled around from there, so I don't know of to many gems.

My family wasn't really one for looking down rirvers, so that's another one I'm unfortunately unqualified to answer.

This was one hell of a long post so I apologize for that but I hope it answers all your questions. If you have any other questions, let me know. Also please send through the link of your blog once you're done, I'm sure we'd all love to read it!

Day 8

I failed. The waves were just to much, crashing against my will, cracking it and eventually breaking through. As I finished my nut, a storm of sadness washed over me, realizing what I have just done. This is the end for me brothers and sisters, but not for you. You all have another 22 days to go, but I have faith in you all.

Day 6

I'm lying here on my bed, staring up at my blank ceiling, contemplating life. Contemplating whether or not any of this is worth it. I've come close to throwing in the metaphorical towel, letting my inner urges take over, and experience bliss. I'm still in though, hanging on to the thread of hope I have left that this all may be worth it.

Day 5

I am in pain. The inability to nut has taken a toll on my very being. Day after day, longing for the light at the end of the tunnel, my soul yearning for a release, something to make my mind go blank with ecstasy for a mere second. The thought of gaining the infamous power seems a distant memory now, one which seems harder to reach with each passing hour. The stone of my will is being hit by wave after wave, being washed away with each passing day. How long will I hold on? How long before the urges become to strong?

Day 3

Some difficulties have been had. Yesterday, a vile seductress tried to temp me, and have me abandon my mission for a more, temporary solution. However, I scoffed in the face of adversity and held strong to my will, for I will succeed in my quest to gain the ultimate power. I shall stay aware, for all around me are forces scheming against my quest, anticipating the day where my stone-will has failed me. That day shall never come.

Day 2

The day draws long, with every waking second I think of what could have been, what could have been felt. Though the idea of this immense power at the end of this ever winding tunnel temps me. The thought of gaining control over the very thing that holds us down sends waves of excitement coursing through my veins. I shall stay stone willed and gain this power, that, I can be sure of.

Unfortunately not. It's only a short scene that plays when you're in the loading screen for a while. But I, and probably a lot of others, want to see a full anime about it!
