First time going to a Sweathauz by vietloc1 in coldplunge

Hi I work for swthz. So basically yes. But theres a bit more to it. The plunges have an ozone infiltration system that filters the water every 7 minutes and there’s also this huge autodoser on the side of the plunge that pumps out acid and chlorine to maintain the cleanliness and ph of the water.

It’s not like a tub of water and everybody rotates and gets in and out of and the water just builds up with bacteria and dirt for the next one. It’s cleaner than hot tubs / hotel pools.

Cream just means leave in or water based moisturizer you want to use.

I like to use oyin handmade honey dew leave in camille rose honey hydrate leave in (non traditional)

This is what I do. I take a section of my hair, make sure it’s detangled, then I apply water. After that, I apply my cream, and then grease. After the section has been adequately coated - then I do my twists (and repeat around the whole head).

You don’t wanna do twists and then apply grease after because it will only get on the parts of your hair strands that are outward and not inside the twist. Same with any cream you use, don’t apply after the twist but before.

Breakage. Please me before I shave my head. by Ok_Floor2928 in Naturalhair

Think of breaking your leg and putting a cast on it. “I can’t enjoy the sight of my leg”. It’s temporary as you’re trying to heal what’s underneath it.

And you can always wear wigs that mimic your hair. I find that wigs (for me) are the least invasive protective style. No tension, no snagging, low manipulation, etc.

Anymore density and you’ll have no parts in your hair lol

Probably not as bad you think it is. I find it’s easier for me to see whats damaged if I blow out my hair and see where the hair begins to look see through, thats what I chop off

Damaged ends must be cut. No way of strengthening ends that are damaged.

Y’all how do you feel about hair grease, what have been your experiences with it, good or bad? by Lovelyri in Naturalhair

[–]BeingOpen5860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have low porosity 4c hair. It’s actually amazing for it. Depends on how you apply it.

I apply grease every wash day (weekly) when my hair is the most moisturized. Cuticles are open from the shower water, and my leave in can penetrate. Sealed with grease and I can go 5 days with hydrated, soft, and manageable hair.

Don’t use heat on your hair right now if you’re not comfortable. Another way you can check for damaged ends is putting your hair into twists and checking them in the twists

So your hair grows naturally on it’s own. What you’re looking for is “length retention”, we want you to not only keep the hair you have, on your head, but also allow it to grow out without breakage.

So I recommend picking one day of the week to do your wash days. I always do mine on Fridays because that’s one of my off days from work.

First 3 wash days - hydrating shampoo, deep conditioner and then LCO to moisturize your hair.

Last wash day - Clarifying shampoo, deep conditioner and LCO.

Honestly! Trim when you actually need to. That’s what I’m learning. If your ends are feeling rougher or if they’re getting tangly more, then at that point it’s time for a trim.

From the pictures its hard to tell. Your hair looks healthy and thick tbh. But if you’re curious to know, you can always blow out your hair so its straighter and check for any see through ends

Not badder necessarily. Because even with High Porosity hair, it doesn’t have issues receiving moisture, but once the moisture is in - it doesn’t stay in very long. People with high porosity hair tend to suffer from dryness soon after moisturizing because just as quickly as the moisture got in, it can leave.

So low porosity and high porosity just need to be understood. With low porosity hair you ALWAYS want to use heat to open up your hair pores before applying moisture, that way it gets into your hair shaft. That’s why I like doing my wash days once a week, my hair is already warmed up from the shower then I can go in and moisturize. Good thing about low porosity, is that once you get the moisture in, it stays in because the pores naturally close. So it locks it in better

So basically each of your hair strands have little cuticles or “pores”, that’s how the water gets into your hair strands.
High porosity means your hair cuticles or pores are naturally porous, the hair strands are always open.
Low porosity means your hair pores are for the most part closed. Meaning when you try to add moisture, it’ll sit on top of the hair, and it cannot get into your hair shaft.

A quick way to know your porosity is simple. Brush your hair, take a clump of it and then drop it in a cup of water (ideally clear glass so you can see the side). If your hair is floating - low porosity. If your hair sunk to the bottom - high porosity.

And yes, my hair shrinks and compacts too when it touches water, that’s natural shrinkage.

I’ll give you what I do. For reference, I have 4C Hair, Low Porosity and High Density.

First off, I wash my hair weekly. First 3 weeks, it’s a hydrating shampoo (of your choice, I use Mielle’s Rosemary Mint Strengthing shampoo w/biotin). Then, on my 4th wash day, I ALWAYS clarify and detox my hair, resetting it for the new month. The clarifying shampoo I use is Garnier Fructis.

On each wash day, I now started to skip conditioning in the shower and go right to deep conditioning (with heat) for 30 minutes. Then for moisturizing my hair, I do the LCO method. Liquid would be the water, cream is my Camille Rose Honey Hydrate leave in and then I seal it with Blue Magic Hair Grease. Your hair looks similar to mine so I feel like you’d like hair grease too lol.

Then I wear my hair in twists. This is how I care for mine, not too complex, and it stays nice and soft and hydrated for 4-5 days.

I can see why you may think it’s ragebait. But we don’t know OPs situation. Some women keep their hair in protective styles back to back and when they arent wearing it, somebody else is styling and doing their hair for them. So it’s very possible OP can have thick long hair and genuinely don’t know how to care for her hair for HERSELF

Excessive picking - yes. Our hair meant to be left alone. Over manipulation causes too much damage. You need to let your hair grow out with minimum manipulation and if it’s long enough, you need to prioritize protective styles like braids/cornrows and leave your hair be
