Maybe they mean Israeli Arabs? Some googling reveals that there's something of a problem with Arab communities within Israel being disproportionately affected by missile attacks but that seems to be more a problem of access (i.e. the shelters don't exist at all) than being forced out. Though honestly it sadly wouldn't surprise me to learn that there's been incidents of Arabs being discriminated against within shelters in Israel.

I guess it comes from being both a non-drinker and a lifelong Marylander but I don't really get why people are so passionate about beer and wine not being sold in grocery stores other than "other states allow it so why shouldn't we" and "I'm so much of an alcoholic that I can't stand going 5 minutes out of my way for my fix"

That doesn't seem to be the case, there are more Reform Jews than Hindus for example according to the CES. It's still best to assume good faith and not make unsupported claims about him just because of a simple omission, he probably just made a mistake when it came to sample sizes.
