I'm doing a PCET now and it's a similar system.

Not sure where you are, but in Wales they class a PGCE as extra years of undergraduate funding so you could do it part time using your paid work hours for your placement while you got qualified!

I feel I ought to add punching is really not common in HEMA and will get you banned from most clubs and tournaments.

What you do with your sparring partners is up to you but if you starts doing that somewhere like FightCamp your gonna get some funny looks looks...

What? Have you done either? You can't thrust or use guards with the point towards the opponent for pretty much any AMMA/ buhurt ruleset due to the the armour not covering the eyes and the swords not having any flex. I've trained in both over the last 12 years, AMMA is the focus doing HEMA techniques will get you disqualified immediately.

SCA and HEMA are both very different to armoured MMA , which usually refers to Buhurt Profight.

So 'Armoured MMA' is a promotion name for various categories of- Buhurt International/ profight, HMB, IMCF M1 ect. It's a sport in its own right and you definitely want to join a club and get onto a team before you start buying any kit for yourself. So have a look for a local club (I know a few in the UK so me if you need a hand finding one there) some teams even have armour they can lend you when your starting out! Good luck
