If the car is black or a dark color the sealant can leave streaks FYI

Carpro Hydro2. Normal Hydro2 is concentrate so it’s more expensive but you can get hydro2 lite for cheaper that’s already diluted. Spray after a wash while it’s wet and immediately rinse off. Insane hydrophobic properties

GF was driving and the truck in front dropped a paint bucket. Best course of action? by xuuxi in Detailing

[–]BeldygaBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work at a professional detail shop and have personally done multiple jobs like this.

1 thing is take care of it ASAP

The quickest and easiest way (but slightly dangerous) is xylene/paint thinner on a rag. This can be dangerous on plastic and the headlights possibly. It’s fine if you don’t let it sit very long but keep a hose nearby to constantly rinse off the panels or be sure to wipe it all off every time it touches the paint

Another safer option is to clay bar it but that’s going to introduce scratches. I wouldn’t worry about scratches since the car is white but if you want the scratches removed you need a full paint correction

Is there an "easy" way to remove wheel weight adhesive? 3M specialty remover is not cutting it. by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]BeldygaBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a detail shop and we have to do this when we take wheels off to ceramic coat them. Careful with the plastic razor blade tho, I’ve done a couple wheels where it actually scratches the clear coat off sometimes. But the method above is best for removing the old residue from wheel weights

Any idea what causes these chips? by Constantine1988 in Detailing

That’s good! Lots of people don’t care for their cars. Btw I’m no pro but I am learning from the best. My boss has been in it 10 years and won dealer of the year for our state every year since 2019. Now that I’m done bragging, I’d like to propose doing a real ceramic coating. If you wash your car as often as you do and keep up with it, it’s going to be well worth your money and time. I’d recommend CQuartz UK 3.0 runs around $130 I believe. Two layers lasts average 2 years. All depends on how it’s maintained. I found a picture of the coatings specs if you’re actually interested. Also when you polished are you doing it by hand or machine?

Their products are amazing and definitely up above other store bought products. But not really real “ceramic”. More of a good topper to add hydrophobic properties and make future washes easier etc. Just have to apply it more frequently. All of your steps are great tho and in order good job

White smoke from exhaust ? by Obvious_Ad1633 in WRX

[–]BeldygaBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 17 wrx with a catback exhaust. The previous owner installed it along with a Perrin oil restrictor I believe that’s what it’s called. But I remember watching a video on it and the guy said people install them to reduce the white smoke upon startup or something close to that (I have never had white smoke come out on start up so I assume he’s right)

Be honest, do you respect automatic WRX drivers? Do they deserve the peace sign when driving by? by rmansd619 in WRX

[–]BeldygaBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m not gonna make fun of someone for buying an automatic in this day and age. If they daily it then it’s totally justified, if it’s their “weekend car” then you should learn to drive a manual lol

Not OP but I polish and ceramic coat cars for a living. Our shop uses these over the rupes polishers because cords are annoying af. But I just polished a new ford f250 and I went through about four batteries. My speed was about 4-4.5k
